The Sound of Red Returning by Sue Duffy | Kindle Fire Giveaway and Blog Tour

**UPDATE: Winner of the Kindle fire is: Bryan Coppage from North Carolina!

Sue Duffy is back with a brand new three book series, Red Returning. The first release, The Sound of Red Returning, is a breathless and unexpected tale. After losing everyone she loves, concert pianist Liesl Bower has nowhere to go but to escape into her music. Searching for the peace she usually finds in her concertos and sonatas, Liesl can’t shake the feeling that she is being haunted by her past. As she’s giving a concert for the president in Washington, D.C., she looks out into the audience to see a man that she’s seen before — the night her professor was attacked — and now he’s back!

Romantic Times gives it 4 Stars: Book one in the Red Returning series starts out just right with political intrigue, suspense and just enough romance to keep readers guessing and interested. Well-defined secondary characters add that extra zing to the plot.

Publisher’s Weekly: The pop-pop-pop of surprise resolutions at the end makes a fine coda.

To celebrate, Sue has teamed up with her publisher, Kregel Publications, for the "Red Returning" Giveaway! One winner will receive a brand new Kindle Fire!

{More About The Sound of Red Returning}

After losing everyone she loves, concert pianist Liesl Bower has nowhere to go but to escape into her music. Searching for the peace she usually finds in her concertos and sonatas, Liesl can’t shake the feeling that she is being haunted by her past . . . and by someone following her. When she spots a familiar and eerie face in the audience of a concert she’s giving for the president in Washington, DC, the scariest day of her life comes back to her with a flash. It has been fifteen years since Liesl watched her beloved Harvard music mentor assaulted on a dark night in Moscow and just as long since the CIA disclosed to her that he’d been spying for Russia. She had seen that man--that eerie face--the night Professor Devoe was attacked. And now he’s back--and coming for her.

On the run and struggling to rely on the protection of CIA agent Ava Mullins and handsome newspaper reporter Cade O’Brien, Liesl learns she is the prey of an underground cell of Russian KGB agents determined to restore their country to its former Soviet might. But what she doesn’t know is that she is in possession of something--a piece of sheet music--that Russian intelligence is now frantic to find. Inside that music is a secret code, the hidden transcriptions of her deceased mentor, that clearly identify a Russian mole operating inside Israel’s Department of Defense, a mole with enough power and access to execute a daring assassination that no one would see coming.

Caught in a deadly conflict between American and Russian undercover agents, this innocent young pianist is just trying to survive her own personal trauma. Through it all, Liesl must learn that no matter how dark her world grows or how fiercely her enemies pursue her, God is still in control--if only she can yield herself to His grace. Read an excerpt.

1/23

Michele at My Life & Kids Library I love a story where God is just working in the background/behind the scenes and the main character finally realizes it at the end of their ordeal and totally gives their life to God. It's always nice when they find their true love when they have been through so much that they think they will never love again. I can't wait to read the next installment of this story!

Holly at 2 Kids and Tired Books I enjoyed this novel so much. These characters are likeable and you care for them immediately. The intrigue and suspense are fast paced, but perfect and not predictable. I loved the musical aspect and the cleverness of sending codes through sheet music. Amazing. I am thrilled that this is the first in a trilogy and I look forward to more from Sue Duffy.

Tina's Book Reviews I loved the way Duffy mixed romance, music and the intense mystery all together creating a intriguing character in Liesel who as a result of the past and present time periods, we see grow as a character. The best aspect is the actual reveal, I love when a book surprises me after I think I've solved it.

Amy at A Nest in the Rocks It's not easy to achieve the perfect balance of suspense and romance, of intrigue and honesty, of double agents and forgiveness, but that is exactly what Sue Duffy has done in The Sound of Red Returning. Definitely not predictable, this suspenseful story will keep you on your toes as you try to determine exactly whom is spying for whom and just who has no hidden angles.

Stacie at Hobbit Door I must admit I was pleasantly surprised. I could not put this book down after picking it up. It was very well written with some fascinating and surprising plot twists. I did not expect the plot twists (always a good sign). It had good pacing and I did not feel like quality was sacrificed by the length. There was sufficient fleshing out of each character without getting lost in rabbit trails.
