Chasing Famous

Chasing Famous

Chasing Famous (New Hope, April 2017)

Have you ever considered your life as an audition?

Regardless of who or where we are, we are constantly, often unconsciously, auditioning for a part. Loving wife. Amazing employee. Crafting queen. Socialite. All we really want is to be loved, affirmed, and accepted. What if we could learn to live the life we have always been auditioning for without all the stress?

Chasing Famous is a redemptive book that teaches us how to take the focus off ourselves and shift it back on to the glory of God. Written by a professional actress who readily admits that she is the most self-centered person she knows, Chasing Famous provides practical and sometimes humorous examples of scriptural truth that will help you master the natural self-centered tendencies of life. Once you’ve mastered these issues, and you can, your story will turn the spotlight on God where, you’ll soon discover, what it means to truly live.

  • Chasing Famous: Living the Life You’ve Always Auditioned For focuses on exploring the roles we play in our own lives. Biblical insights and thought questions help make this book a great text for study and reflection. Although an easy read, I found this book to be challenging as well as inspirational.

  • Patty Parker says:

I adored this book. I found myself feeling the gamut of emotions. From awe to conviction. From inspired to deeply moved. It’s been a few days since I completed this book in it’s entirety but one sentence continues to haunt me…in a good way. In chapter 12, the author says, “May we not miss the opportunity to be used by God where we are because we are so consumed with a desire to be used by God where we’re not.” May I truly be excited about the opportunities right in front of me. And may they all be for His glory.

  • This is a beautiful book well written story. A really well good message this book gives us to help us during our lives as well. We all need to remember that this is all for him. In all we do.

A challenge inspirational read this was. I am glad that this book is out there to help us

  • Theologically sound and convicting in every page, Chasing Famous challenges the reader to pursue God’s glory in all things. Whatever stage of life you find yourself in, this book is relevant. Whether a missionary on the field, an actor, or an influential business person, you are uniquely positioned to give God glory where you are, whatever the situation.

  • Lloyd shares how she found the meaning of true success in her relationship with God. It is a good book for young women who think their acceptance comes from their appearance. It would make a good study for a teen reading group as there are discussion questions after each chapter.

  • Through personal introspection and deeply moving stories, Lisa shares openly about the inner battles and the true costs that come from believing your value lies in the opinion of man. By shifting focus to using any platform we have to make the name of God famous, we open ourselves up to more abundant life, more meaningful relationships and the peace that transcends all understanding.

  • With this book you get what you read in way that soaks into your mind to make a deeper feeling. The author places the right amount of thoughts so that you as the readers can take and prolong your thinking on the subjects throughout the day. It is a good read for spiritual uplifting with a message laced in to get you back on the ground.

  • She Is says:

In Chasing Famous, Lisa does a good job of giving a call to action, while encouraging and empathizing with the obstacles you might face when pursuing your passion.

  • Chasing Famous by Lisa Lloyd is engaging and honest (I so appreciate her willingness to be vulnerable), and it gives us the freedom to abandon our own pursuits at fame and to channel that energy into making God famous instead. This is definitely a book I’m going to reread and incorporate into my daily walk to fully savor.

  • This book helps to remind readers that we were all created with and for a purpose. We are all meant to do something and be something. And I think that there are a great deal of people out there who could use this type of encouragement, especially when they might be feeling useless or are lacking direction. It is a reminder that we need that we need to fully trust in God’s plan for us in order to find our real purpose in life.

  • This book shows so many ways to live life without stress and to quit being the center of an audition. You will find spiritual quotes and life lessons to be learned. It will make you think and discover what it means to find god and truly live.

  • In Lisa Lloyd’s new book, Chasing Famous she asks us all to take a look at how we are living our lives and answer the question who are we trying to make famous? Are we living for God and serving Him or are we focusing on ourselves and our desires? Chasing Famous challenges us to take a deep look inside ourselves and decide if we are the person we were born to be.

  • I think this book would really appeal to anyone interested in acting. The bottom line of this book is that Lisa’s goal in life is to make God famous, and she’s passing along that challenge to the reader as well.

  • I loved this book. It was easy to read and very easy to relate to. I loved Lisa’s honesty, the personal experiences shared in this book, and how well she relates everything to scripture. I highly recommend this book.

  • snidbits says:

Lisa had me hooked from the first page: “But the Bible is clear – God wants to use the story of our lives to radiate His fame. We exist for Him. We’ve been rescued for Him.

  • I loved this book! I can’t say enough good things about this book! I highly recommend grabbing a copy! Are we trying to make ourselves famous or are we looking to make God our number one priority? Are we being obedient to him or to what we want? This book will grab you right away and you’ll be highlighting all over the pages!

  • CHASING FAMOUS is not simply a book about how Lisa makes God famous in her life (but her personal story is touching and you don’t want to miss it!). Lisa shows us how to “lengthen, elevate, and radiate” the fame of God’s Name in our personal stories, our talents, and in our everyday activities. When we are transparent and vulnerable, we let the world see the real us and how God is working in our lives–which encourages them to do the same. And He is glorified!

  • A great book for those days that need a little more sunshine!

  • If you’re struggling with the need to constantly “audition” for others, you’ll find comfort and encouragement in Lisa’s personal experience and the Scripture she weaves throughout this book. You’ll be challenged to live boldly for the fame of the One who has called you by name. You’ll learn that you can stop auditioning every day for the approval of others and rest in the approval of your Heavenly Father.

  • I loved “Chasing Famous” and feel so blessed by the faith-filled messages Lisa conveys throughout the book. It’s not about us, it’s all about Him and what He does through us to bring about His glory. Keeping the Lord as center stage keeps us centered on Him and the works He is fulfilling in us.

  • I was hesitant at first because how can my life as wife/mom/homemaker compare to this actress? But Lisa Lloyd removes all pretense immediately offering honest, heartfelt, and revealing guidance to live life in the Light of who God created each of us to be.

  • Ever want to be famous? Okay, maybe not like a celebrity, but within your own world? I recently read a book that gave me a great perspective on my gifts and glorifying God in everyday life. It really resonated with me as she shared her own story along the way.

  • I was very interested in reading this book as a woman who has struggled with self-esteem and purpose in life. The subtitle of this book is ”Living the Life You’ve Always Auditioned For” and is sure to capture the curiosity of most people. The author is Lisa Lloyd, an actress who can speak from experience. I love the point she makes through all the chapters of the book: turn the spotlight on GOD! And then you will discover what it means to truly live.

  • Moments says:

“Chasing Famous” is Lisa sharing her heart of getting back on track with chasing God and living life with God as the focus instead of herself.  Every day we are each trying to improve ourselves for a certain role, be the model wife, be the mom who has the perfect home and the perfect kids, be the woman who can juggle all the hats she has to wear.  However, it is not the life that God intended for each of us to live.

  • Have you thought about what it means to make God famous? What has God called you to in your life?

If you are not sure or are wrestling with what this looks like I strongly encourage you to pick up a copy of Lisa Lloyd’s Chasing Famous. It is a book you can read on your own or in a group study.

  • More of Him says:

This is a wonderful book! It inspires, refreshes and brings a whole new feeling into what we do in our lives. All the things we do matter – the little and the large – and as we do them, we need to do them for the glory of God and not focus on ourselves. I love this book (and intend to read it again!) and give it 5 out of 5 stars.

  • The author has written a book that is honest, transparent and encouraging. I loved the different topics she uses and how we can become stronger by making God famous.

  • Chasing Famous: Living the Life You’ve Always Auditioned For is an inspiring book about focusing on God and His glory instead of just ourselves. The author, Lisa Lloyd, is an actress, and she uses acting terms and analogies in the book.

  • I feel Chasing Famous is unique, in that it is written by an actor who sees things from a different perspective than most of us, who are the audience. Lloyd uses this unique perspective to teach we are to live for Christ Jesus and not for the gain of men (people.)

  • We lose focus on who we really should be trying to please when we are constantly rushing around and working to make everyone around us either like us or “applaud us” when we do the things in our daily lives. How crazy is it that we find ourselves “auditioning” for those around us when we should only seek His applause? We may not want to admit how often this can happen to us, but honestly, I can tell you that I definitely felt conviction on this one. That is truly what is important and I am grateful for this reminder to keep seeking to make God famous through my life and even through my blog. This book really did give just that push I needed to get back to what matters most. I highly encourage you to pick up a copy soon!

  • I loved Lloyd’s honesty and how she articulated her stories and how they apply to life. Not only did she use her own stories, she filtered Bible stories throughout that help us see ourselves the way God sees us.

  • This book would be great for college aged women and up who are trying to discern their path and calling. That said, it was just as relevant for me as a stay at home mom who sometimes feels like part of my calling (besides the mom piece!) is buried beneath dishes and laundry somewhere. I can assure you that you’ll walk away feeling refreshed and with a little more confidence to lean into what you feel

  • God is Love says:

Lisa’s storytelling style is engaging. I thought it was quite clever and fitting that as a seasoned actress, she chose to use terms from her industry as the titles for each chapter

  • I have really enjoyed reading through this book. It was very interesting to read how Lisa has compared using our lives for God to being famous. I liked how she showed the parallels of these two things and how she showed that our ultimate goal is to serve Christ and be famous for him.

  • Loyd has written an amazing transparent book that is honest & encouraging. I absolutely love the different topics that are used on how we can become stronger & make GOD famous. I strongly encourage others to read this book.

  • This book is excellent! I enjoyed Lisa’s style and the book’s subject. I highly recommend it!

  • This was another good book that addressed something most women struggle with, not ever feeling like enough and how that is such an elusive mirage. This book is a good reminder to take the focus off of ourselves and put it back on the Lord, that is the only way we are going to find contentment and peace. This book was well written and engaging to read and it was an excellent reminder of where my focus needs to be.
