Reviews

  • Richly drawn characters make this story worth the read!

  • I wish I could have read this trilogy in order. I enjoyed this author immensely and the book was a real page turner, that I did not want to put down. The characters are brilliantly brought to life and I highly recommend this book for adults or older teens as I feel they would connect most.

  • This book swept me up right away into the story of Sally Bingham who is unfortunately engaged to a man who does not want her to pursue her own interests, such as making her get rid of her dog upon their marriage and other controlling aspects.

  • I may not agree with the choices that Sally is making, but the book is well written with vivid and complex characters.

  • This is the third and final book in the Lancaster of Legacy trilogy but I believe there are still more questions that need to be answered by the time you get to the end. Hopefully Kate will address these in a future novel. I love when you get a blend of the two cultures of Amish and English in one novel. It shows the similarities as well as differences between the two and shows that English can become Amish if they are willing to endure the hard work. It conveys that the things that one must give up isn’t necessarily as hard as you would think. In fact, I love the simplicity that the Amish living brings over the English life of living for wealthy and material things. I love that by the end Sally gets a sense of what belonging really means as well as being a part of something more!

  • Incredible, incredible story of family and forgiveness! So much happens in this book but it never leaves you lost. Loved every page!

  • I loved this book. Poor Sally, living her whole life without her mother and all the mystery surrounding her life as well. She has no idea where she came from or her heritage. I for one want a sequel to this book and really hope that author Kate Lloyd is going to do a second Forever Amish to take over where this one left off. I mean, I know that Sally is going to join the church, we’ve found out that much. And we know that she loves Armin and he loves her. He even repairs his family relationships because of her. So, now I want to know what happens next! I hate not knowing the rest of the story. Great read. Glad that Sally’s cousin hasn’t run off to be English and finds out just what kind of boy she’s seeing.

  • Book Reviews says:

Forever Amish is a great story of love, forgiveness, and finding peace. This is a definite must read Amish romance!

  • “Forever Amish” is a truly heartwarming story. Also a story of holding a family together even when secrets to impossible to believe are exposed. Sally Bingham is about learn things about herself that she would have never even dreamed about. –

  • I enjoyed this Amish fiction as the author sought to blend in a cast of outstanding characters with a little mystery in a satisfying story of forgiveness.

  • DebsHere says:

I love reading about the Amish and Kate Lloyd really kept me wanting more in this book. Sally really needed to get away, and this time against her father and fiancee’s approval she decides to take off to go meet Lizzie.

  • We have had a lot of rainy days here in the South and I began this book on one of those days. I started early in the morning while everyone else in the house was asleep. Kate Lloyd is a master at creating well developed characters. I could not put this book down. It was a wonderful story about forgivness. I have read the other books in this trilogy and it was nice knowing the characters as I began but this is a stand alone and can be read without having read the other two parts.

  • Moments says:

“Forever Amish” is book 3 in the Legacy of Lancaster Trilogy and this is a great conclusion to the series. Kate transports the reader to Bird-in-Hand, near Lancaster, and I love this setting as I would go their every summer with my family while growing up and have fond memories of these trips.

  • This was an Amish story about a woman that has no idea who she is, or where she is from. Her world is turned upside down and she is not sure what to think of the people she trusted. She has to forgive a lot of people and as she finds out the truth of her past she realizes that God had a plan for her. I love that the author included the lyrics to the song Amazing Grace at the end of the book. I am giving this book a 5/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own.

  • Overall, I enjoyed this book. Looking past the few unrealistic elements, I found this to be a good book. This was the first book I read by Lloyd and I am looking forward to reading other books from her in the future.

  • This book had an interesting blend of the Englisch world and Amish beliefs. It sends a great message about the connectedness of family. Sally’s father “Pops” (also known as Honest Ed) was my favorite character in Forever Amish. He sacrificed so much for his daughter. Even when she didn’t appreciate his efforts or understand his situation, he was patient and kind. Ed, you’re a tribute to all the good guys out there!

  • One thing that I enjoy about Amish Fiction is it’s ability to take us to a culture and life that many of us are not familiar with, yet desire. It is about simplicity and community, something many of us don’t have because in today’s society it’s all about go, go, go and don’t get close to people for fear of rejection. The simplicity found in the Amish lifestyle is something that has taught me ways to be simple despite all going on in my life.
Forever Amish was a truly heartwarming book about family, love and forgiveness. It is engaging from the very first pages, and while it is the third book in Legacy of Lancaster trilogy, it does well as a stand-alone novel. I felt that the characters continued to be well-developed and loved all the interactions throughout the book. A lovely pick for your summer reading list to be sure.
I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up!

  • The tale is very enjoyable to read, and the characters deal with many obstacles, joys and sorrows. The descriptions of scenes are breathtaking and easy to imagine. One aspect in this trilogy was how the community of both Amish and English people came together and worked side by side in all types of occasions. While there were some characters who didn’t want to be associating with anyone who wasn’t Amish, it made the tale more believable. I hope you make time to read, enjoy and share the trilogy Kate Lloyd wrote. If you do, maybe drop me a note and tell me if you liked one of the books more than the others.

  • Lizzie’s family is not your average run of the mill Amish family. You can see they are people who do not always do exactly as they are taught to do, but rather you can see their true human nature, just like all of us. They too, have to work at their lives and often learn through trial and error. A wonderful Amish book!

  • Best Reads says:

What a compelling read! Packed with emotion from the very first page, Sally’s distress is palpable. Her world is unraveling, exposing raw wounds she didn’t realize were festering. Her journey of discovery makes for a spellbinding story. I was as anxious and she was to put the puzzle pieces together. But oh how complicated her life becomes once she has the answers she is seeking. What a lovely, complicated mess!

  • Kate Lloyd is a wonderful writer and she cleverly uses her magic touch to write a great ending to the the Legacy of Lancaster Trilogy. I instantly connected with Sally within the first few chapters and I read through the book in one evening. Yes, the plot of a modern day woman visiting the Amish countryside has been to done several dozens times, but the plot here never felt old or boring. Overall, Forever Amish is a well-written Amish tale and I highly recommend it other readers.

  • This book was interesting in that it took a premise I had never seen done, in Amish books and built around it. The characters in this book did puzzle me a bit, they seemed a “bit out of character” for the general Amish story. Lizzie was sneaky and at times she would seem stressed by the bishop and at other times too nonchalant about him. It just struck me odd. Overall the bishop was one of my favorite characters, while he looked stern, he was a kind man. The story was enjoyable, a bit scattered and parts too quickly developed, while other parts lagged a bit. I did find that uncharacteristic premise the best part of the book. I give this book 4 stars for that fact alone. Kate Lloyd took something that I have never done in an Amish story and made an enjoyable story from it. 4 stars.

  • If you enjoy reading Amish stories, this one will definitely warm your heart!

  • I founds myself drawn into the mystery and romance of this story. I have enjoyed reading this series and this new addition did not disappoint me.

The author gives God the biggest roll in this book as he leads the characters on the path he has planned for each and every one of them.

    I highly recommend this book.

  • The characters are unique and likeable. The author did a nice job tying things up, I loved Armin and rooted for him and Sally to get together. If you like Amish fiction I think you’ll enjoy Sally’s journey.

  • I enjoyed this book very much. It shows that forgiving and loving your family is God’s plan for your life.

  • Cummins Life says:

I am a sucker for Amish books. I read them quickly, enjoy them thoroughly and find them overall delightful. There is something intriguing about the life of the Amish – the simplicity, the importance of faith, family and community.

This book is about discovery, family, love and forgiveness. And while I found some plot points predictable, there were several puzzle pieces I did not have placed correctly. Lloyd did a great job weaving this story and bringing the characters to life.

Another thing to note is that this book could be read as a stand alone. In general I always recommend reading complete series but if you weren’t able to, this book is enjoyable by itself.

  • the ramblings of miss aimymichelle says:

Kate Lloyd makes her stories more interesting and much more readable.

  • Veronica's 'Views says:

The plot felt a bit scattered or maybe it was more that Sally seemed that way, with her emotions all over the place. I really liked the focus on finding her mother and learning the truth about her origins, though I felt it was mentioned a lot. This story definitely has quite a bit happening throughout. I liked that forgiveness was discussed, as Sally had quite a lot of people to forgive in order to move on.

  • Forever Amish is definitely not your every day Amish novel. It’s not falsely happy and perky. It’s not despressingly serious. It’s emotionally real. It’s connected. It’s a rare look at a big, wild Amish family and how they relate, and you have to read it.

  • I must say this book had some unexpected turns that I did not expect. There is a mystery that Sally’s dad refuses to divulge and no matter how much she tries to pry it out of him, he is tight-lipped to the point of being obstinate. Frustrated at home, and with her upcoming marriage, she decides to go to a bed and breakfast to sort things out.

I absolutely LOVED the story. A great novel of forgiveness.

  • This book kept me glued to my chair!!! Kate writes with the aim of keeping the reader captivated from beginning to end. The last page leaves you wanting more!! I wanted this series to go on forever. It begins with elements of mystery, leading into romance, secrets and ultimately, forgiveness. Nothing good can come from lying and hiding the past, as the characters learn in the story. In fact, secrets really do more harm than we often think. They change lives, sometimes to the good, if we allow God to work through them, or the result can be devastating. It all depends on how much we allow Him to work out His plan.

  • I enjoyed the story of Sally and Armin, which was so romantic, and felt the entire story was a great mystery. There are many issues being dealt with in Forever Amish, with an overall feeling of family and forgiveness throughout.

  • A strong contrast between the Amish life and the modern ways of the non-Amish are well delineated throughout this fast-paced novel. The consequences that result from a life of deception are well portrayed throughout, and forgiveness becomes the focus in the lives of the characters in this complex story. The author has created a thought-provoking and strong moral thread in this final book in this series. This could easily be a stand-alone book, not reliant on the prequels.

  • As we come to the end of this series, I find myself wanting more and more, I want to sit in the rocking chair and become one of this great family, where generations all live and work together. Enjoy!

  • Forever Amish is a sweet story of mystery and chance!

  • Kate Lloyd wrote a nice story with characters that felt like family in Forever Amish. It also has a nice love story weaving its way into the story line.

  • I found this book to be better than the other two. Like Kate finally got her groove and really got into the story. I really enjoyed the telling of this tale. I understood where the characters were coming from and knew their history and background. It all came together in this installment and I felt like Forever Amish also got better the more I read it.

  • This is an interesting story about a man who ran from his family and the daughter who desperately wants to have a family to run to. The forgiveness and love shown by the Amish can be a great example to others. While this is the last book in the trilogy, it is not necessary to read the first two although you may want to because of the intriguing characters.

  • As with the other books in this trilogy it was an enjoyable read. Even if you have not read the other two books in the series you can read this as a stand alone but I guarantee that you end up going back and reading the other two in the series. Just like the other books in this series there is a little message to be found and this one is forgiveness. I really found myself liking Sally and pulling for her to find her happiness. This book kept me turning the pages well into the night as I found myself wanting to see what was going to happen. If you are not a fan of Amish I suggest you give this book a try as it is a good story for everyone.

  • I have read and enjoyed all three books in the Legacy of Lancaster Trilogy. Forever Amish is the third book in the series and is definitely my favorite! Don’t worry if you have not read the first two books in the series, this book can also be enjoyed as a stand alone novel.

Forever Amish was just so enjoyable. I really liked Sally Bingham and felt for her. Ah, and Armin…I really enjoyed him in the second book of the series, but liked him even more in this one.

I really enjoyed watching the relationships grow between all of the characters in this book, and liked the message of forgiveness that was woven throughout the story.

Forever Amish was a joy to read from start to finish and I would definitely recommend it to fans of Amish fiction.

  • Forever Amish by Kate Lloyd was another great Amish fiction book. I have really been getting into Amish fiction books and this one didn’t let me down. I loved the twists that this book took and it defiantly took me on a ride because I didn’t see some of things that happened happening that is for sure.

  • This book captured my attention from the beginning. The first half of this book hints at some kind of secret/the second half resolves the secret–which made it difficult to put the book down. A real page turner-with lots of twist and turns. A great read!

  • I have read all the books in the Legacy of Lancaster Trilogy, and this one was my favorite. This one flowed really, a lot better than the other two. It may be that it flowed so well because I liked the characters in this book better than in the first two. Kate Lloyd is an exceptional writer. Sometimes, I didn’t like Sally, but in the end I did. If you are looking for a great Amish read that will keep you entertained, and has a little mystery to it, then this is the book for you.

I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest review.

  • I liked the twist in this final book in the Legacy of Lancaster Trilogy. The mystery is kept a secret for much of the book about Sally’s family. We know that she has a sick father, but we don’t know anything about her mother or her Father’s family. However, we also get to know Lizzie and her family. I will admit that the whole meeting between Sally and Lizzie is a bit odd. I knew something was up, but I couldn’t figure it out at first. As the story grew, I started to have some suspicions as to what was up, but I liked how the story was withheld for so long.

  • WV Stitcher says:

I have read each book in The Legacy of Lancaster trilogy and each one seemed to be better than the last. Forever Amish was probably my favorite book in the series, because it flowed so well, and it touched on the topic of forgiveness and love, but the author provides a bit of mystery as well.

  • Thank you, Ms Lloyd, for another great book. I’ve enjoyed your Legacy of Lancaster Trilogy.

  • This book was not the typical Amish romance story. Where most heroines has some idea of their Amish background or connections, in this one, Sally has no idea. This was an okay book. Unfortunately, not one of my favorites.

  • Mommy Has to Work says:

Another great read by Kate Lloyd. She never disappoints!

  • Barb Shelton says:

The story between the covers of Forever Amish caused me to lose sleep. Not because it troubled me, only that I could not lay it on my bedside table and turn out the light. Kate Lloyd certainly does not write a boring story, she is a master storyteller. Even if I needed toothpicks to keep my eyes open, I intended to see what was on the next page…the next, and the next!

  • There is one thing about it, this is for sure not a boring Amish story. There are many twists and turns, most of them will take you off guard, and having you wondering what will happen next.

  • This Amish novel is a great story about forgiveness, love and a strong family unit.

  • Lloyd has done it again just when you thought that the Legacy of Lancaster Trilogy couldn’t get any better she writes the last book in the trilogy and it’s a keeper.

  • This is a definite stand alone book, even though it’s part of a series. You won’t be lost as to what’s going on or who is who, which is always nice. However, this book was so good, you’ll definitely want to read the others in the series. I really enjoyed this book because it was written from a totally different perspective and the theme of forgiveness and keeping secrets. I give this book a 5 out of 5 star rating

  • This is an excellent story by Kate Lloyd. The story of searching,
to see if there is more.
This is the story of Sally Bingham. She decides that a break is
needed before she says I do.
She gets away for the weekend, ending up in Amish country.
She stays in the home of an Amish woman. She learns about
the plain lifestyle. It is so uniquely different from her own.
While visiting she meets Armin a farmhand that dazzles her.
Could she give-up the lifestyle that she has known or
will she go through with her marriage?
This is a must read book!!
    5 stars!

  • This is a very touching story ! A story about love and forgiveness. Learning to forgive even when we don’t know why folks do things the way they do. A story about finding the love of God , who never leaves us, even if others abandon us. Kate has written a wonderful tale and shared with us the truth of God’s love and mercy. Shown us how to trust God for the answers to life’s problems and trials. I read this book and had not read the first two, but I loved the story and will not go back and read the first two. This was my first Kate Lloyd Story, but not may last !

  • I enjoyed this book. I liked the characters and I love Amish fiction. The only problem I had was I felt that the book wrapped up rather quickly. I remember having only 20-30 pages left and having a gut feeling that things were just going to be tied up more quickly than I like and most likely, with loose ends. So while I enjoyed the story, I wish the author had lingered a bit more on the ending.
