  • Letitia Suk’s book, “Getaway with God: The Everywoman’s Guide to Personal Retreat.” is amazing. This book centers around how to take time away to reconnect with God and refresh yourself.

  • If you are a retreat junkie, this is hands down a book you must have to help you plan your own retreat–complete with an already planned for you itinerary. Ms. Suk is very detailed and this book will save you a lot of stress work. She does it all except book the facility and pack your things.

  • If you are looking for way to recharge, this just might be the book for you.

While this book wasn’t quite what I was expecting, it was an enjoyable read nonetheless. It is well-organized and detailed and likely to be valuable for those looking for a spiritual retreat.

  • This book is a great resource for anyone wanting to experience personal spiritual retreats. Suk has practical suggestions for short ones of only a day to ones as long as five days. She gives practical ideas for planning the schedule, the place and the content. I highly recommend this book to those ready for alone time with God.

  • Getaway with God is full of great information on how to create a personal retreat. The author is experienced and offers practical advice. I like that she gives different versions and types of retreats.

  • Wow ~ this is a book you don’t want to miss if you are weary. Letitia Suk shares just how important it is to get away and renew ourselves in the Lord. She shares how we all have way to much to do on our never ending to do list and God gets left out.

  • I’ve never been on a retreat with just myself. I’ve been to Marriage Retreats and we have a ladies retreat coming up which I am so excited to attend, but I never thought about doing one on my own.The author, Letita Suk gives us ladies guidance and the tools we need to plan time away. Our time away doesn’t have to be long and it doesn’t have to be costly. We can do it on any budget. She gives us information about how to prepare and how to choose the best retreat for you.

  • A wonderful book to read and have on your shelf.

The author does a good job on giving you steps on going on a retreat and being more with God. I liked how she described about the retreats and how to go about them. She helped me learn more about doing a retreat since I really didn’t know much about them.

This is definitely recommend for readers that like to read about going on retreats and learning about them.

  • A wonderful book! I never thought to do a personal retreat. I look forward to implementing this book!

  • Reading “Getaway with God” made me feel like I was having coffee with an old friend. This book is written in such a way that it just pulls you in. I really like that there is a reference in the back of the of the book on places to go to for a retreat, as well as why you should take time for a personal retreat.

  • Best Reads says:

Suk compares a retreat to “snuggling up to God and letting Him love on you.” (p.21) And it isn`t as daunting as you might think with this book as your guide. It is really well laid out with lots of practical advice and plenty of options since one size doesn`t fit all when it comes to personal retreats.

  • Women looking for a resource to help them to find a way to renew their faith definitely should check out “Getaway with God.”

  • kcreatives says:

This book was refreshing. It was different. I loved her knowledge of the barriers to women getting away. And she showed grace in still urging women to do it and showed great benefits that come from it.

  • In the Pages says:

Do you long to getaway and spend time with God in quiet and alone?  I think we all do – but how in the world can one make that happen in the world in which we live?  Letitia Suk’s Getaway with God shows you exactly how to make that happen – from taking a short break to a week long retreat.  She is practical and tries to keep budget in mind as well as busy families.

  • Getaway with God is a really practical guide to making a personal retreat happen. I found the book to be very helpful, and I’m now convinced of the importance of going on a personal retreat. I’m sure I’ll be pulling out this book when I do.

  • Letitia Suk lays out the reasons personal retreats are so vital, and then she tells us exactly how to go about having one! Not only do we learn applicable truths (I picked up several gems of practical spiritual truth for my own life in the first few chapters) but we also are given the tools so that we know what to do with what we’ve just learned.

  • Letitia draws you in, like an old friend, and shows you how these special times can help you grow tremendously and to learn to relax in God’s presence! This is a wonderful book and I highly recommend it to you!

  • Getaway With God helps us to overcome all of the obstacles that stand in our way to planning a personal retreat. Letitia anticipates and addresses just about any question we could raise concerning personal retreat planning and provides us with guidelines and schedules to help us plan personal retreats of various lengths.

  • Getaway with God is a book I honestly had no clue if I would like it or not. If you are into retreats, or want to create a retreat this would be the best book for you , but if you like me and like devotionals, and short but sweet studies you can do in 5 min. or so, then this is not the right book for you.

  • More Of Him says:

Reading this book is like sitting down with a good friend and discussing all God has done in our lives. I love how the author is so open and honest and shares from her heart.

I really liked this book and am planning on doing my own retreat. This book gives you a deep desire to spend time with God alone.

  • Letitia Suk approaches the subject of getting away from it all and taking a personal retreat to focus on you and your relationship with God. As a stay-at-home mom, I feel like this is something that most moms could use, but we often can’t find the time or money to do something like this. Letitia talks about those things and she is really encouraging in the different types of retreats that she suggests.

  • Moments says:

Letitia shares her heart and her own personal experiences with retreats in her book, “Getaway with God: the everywoman’s guide to personal retreat.” This book is divided into two main sections, the first discussing why the reader should take a personal retreat. The whys can vary from woman to woman, but ultimately Letitia stresses the point that is necessary for the well-being of the woman, personally, and also her family.

  • The book reads like a chat with a friend, and while informational in style, is a easy and enjoyable book to read. I was impressed with the wealth of information she was able to share in a short space without making me feel overwhelmed or bored.

  • An easy read, this book is a great tool for those looking to spend more time with God. Many women long to getaway, but have no clue how to make it happen. Taking the time to read this book, the author gently guides the reader in the steps needed to make it a possibility. The cover is pretty, nice and inviting. Restful, peaceful, and pleasing to the eye, the cover image is just the beginning of what the reader will find when purchasing this book. Whether for yourself or a gift, this book would make a great read for this winter season. Take your time working through the pages; plan a “Getaway with God” this spring or summer.

  • Book Reviews says:

Letitia Suk shows you that a personal retreat can be for different reasons and even allows one that is for rest and relaxation. But she also shows how a retreat is meant to be a time to focus intently on God. I liked how she gave Bible study suggestions as well as physical tips like napping and taking walks.

  • This book was not exactly what I expected, but I liked it! This book is what I would call “very usable”. It gives you step-by-step instructions on how to do a “getaway with God”. But I think really you could use this for so much more. There are some great ideas in here for a woman’s retreat, Mother/Daughter weekend, anything really! It doesn’t have to be just a solo getaway.

  • I really like this book … but more than simply liking it, I found it to be an excellent resource for strengthening our relationship with God, growing closer to Him, and finding spiritual renewal. The word “getaway” is key here, for it involves removing ourselves from all that would distract us and spending one-on-one time with God. Easy to accomplish? Not really. Necessary and rewarding? Definitely! This is an important book for everyone. If you want to plan a personal retreat, this is a wonderful resource. If the idea of a personal retreat isn’t even on your radar, reading it just might change your mind.

  • This book gives you a very user friendly guide on how to plan and schedule your own Getaway with God. It covers where to go and what to plan depending on what you want to accomplish with your retreat. Highly recommend

  • “Get Away With God” is an inspired book filled with wonderful ideas and exercises to get you started on an intimate journey with God.

  • This book is exactly what it says it will be: a guide to personal retreats, getaways with God. She has great ideas of where to go on personal retreats from bed-and-breakfasts to hotels to retreat centers. (I like our cabin at 9,000 ft. in the Rocky Mountains!) Also, she includes several ideas of what to include in your retreat—journaling, reading, praying, taking walks/hikes, enjoying nature, etc. Many of these things I’ve done. Every time God meets me, and I come home with a renewed sense of purpose and a little better understanding of His character.

  • Cummins Life says:

I have never really thought about having a practical how-to guide for taking a personal retreat with the Lord but that is what this book is and it’s great! Both women that are new in their faith and seasoned believers will all benefit from Suk’s experiences and practical advice. After reading this book, I am empowered to start planning my own getaway with God and I have the ideas and tools needed to carry it out.

  • I like that the material is presented in a religious manner but one of personal heart to heart matter. Women can’t give out of empty cisterns whether to their family, friends, works, etc. When we make and take the time to get away with God, we can be refreshed, renewed, gain a new perspective and perhaps a new direction in life where God is leading.

  • After reading through Letitia Suk’s Getaway with God, I now see why some of my friends have been after me to do a weekend silent retreat. In this title, she walks through not just the WHY, but the HOW of a personal retreat. By personal retreat, she means just that: YOU alone with God. So this is NOT a large group retreat with a bunch of fellowship.

  • This book was a much needed reminder that making time to get away from the pressures of life and spending some time with the Lord is much needed. I loved how it focused on taking a personal retreat to be with the Lord and renewing ones heart and spirit, because it is so easy to get down with the day to day responsibilities and have ones walk with the Lord take the back burner. Filled with practical and excellent advice this book was a great and refreshing read for this tired, busy Mom.

  • Getaway with God is a short book and a quick read (just about 150 pages), but it packs a punch in its pages. Letitia has a soothing yet straightforward writing style that is easy and enjoyable to read. I’ve never gone on any type of solo retreat (just a yearly marriage retreat with my church), but this book makes me want to break out of my box, so to speak, and give it a try.

  • This book is an easy read and has a lot of tips of how to make a way for one to actually spend more time with God. I believe we all know how to do it, we just don’t make the time to do actually spend time with God. That’s what this book is about, actually putting our knowledge into action and getting alone with God!

  • This book is a quick read, very encouraging, and a great resource for anyone who wants to take a deeper step into their walk with God.

  • This book is a wonderful resource that offers women different ways to have retreats with a God. Knowing that each woman’s circumstance is different, the author provides solutions for various situations and budgets. As the new year approaches, now is the perfect time to plan a getaway with God. Whether it is just for a moment, or for an entire weekend, God desires for us to set aside time with Him to refocus our minds and hearts. This is a must read if you are planning a retreat in the future.

  • I was pleasantly surprised when I received this book. I was expecting a devotional. What I got was a mini devotional and then some. The book is about actually planning your own ‘Getaway’.
We all need time for ourselves whether we realize it or not. Whether it’s 20 minutes on Sunday evening with no family bothering you and a nice hot bubble bath. Or a weekend away these times refresh our souls and our spirits.

  • A very cute book to remind us how to find time for God in our lives.
