  • I absolutely loved the whole setting of Italy! This author really knows how to transport you to another country and time! I actually almost felt like I was there! All of the little historical tidbits were super awesome and this book is really making me want to visit Italy!…

  • Austenitis says:

I was so ridiculously happy when Lisa T. Bergren’s newest book arrived in my mailbox earlier this week – and when I finally had time to settle in and read it yesterday, I discovered my happiness was well-deserved. This book is worth buying, worth owning, and worth reading again and again. The adventures kept me turning pages as fast as I could read them.

  • Readers who have been waiting for the next installment of Lisa T. Bergren’s Grand Tour series will be happy to know that Glittering Promises serves as a fitting conclusion.

Though at first I had a difficult time remembering the events that led up to the third book (and a short recap prior to the beginning of the book would certainly have been welcome!), I soon became absorbed in the continuing saga of the Kensingtons and Morgans. Bergren included some twists I did not see coming (though another was telegraphed pretty well), and the resolution of the Cora-Will-Pierre love triangle was especially satisfying.

I greatly enjoyed the whole series and highly recommend it to fans of historical fiction.

  • Ms. Bergren has a magic pen when it comes to describing places; I could easily imagine I was there with her characters on the Grand Tour. I have been to some of the places mentioned in this book and I was very happy to relive them through her words. This was a very satisfying wrap up to a quite enjoyable series.

  • Glittering Promises by Lisa T. Bergren is a sensational conclusion to the Grand Tour Series. Lisa’s writing shines (or one could say glitters) in her final installment. Readers are given one last chance to revisit old characters for a proper farewell.

Bergren’s attention to detail is extravagant. Even though I have never been to Italy, Bergren convinced me through her writing that I was in Italy. Love that descriptive writing!

  • “Glittering Promises” is the third and final book in Bergren’s Grand Tour series and I must say that it brings the series to a very satisfying conclusion. Although a thick 400+ pages, the story was so well written and compelling that I found myself surprised when I reached the end so quickly. If I ever find the time, I plan to read the entire series again, one after the other. It is that good.

  • Wow, the drama did not let up in the this last book for Cora and Will. She has been chased, captured, people are trying to kill her and she has 3 men all wanting to be with her! Which one will she choose?

  • Enjoyable Conclusion to an enjoyable series. I liked touring Europe with the Group on their Grand Tour. I liked seeing Cora find herself and see herself as God saw her.

  • After trekking across Europe with the Kensington and Morgan clans for three whole books, I can safely say that this is one of my favorite series … ever! Glittering Promises was a great conclusion!!!

I was so pleased that the ending to this series was as wonderful as it was. I’m definitely not ready for the series to be over, though, and would love to read more about these families if the author ever chooses to write more!

  • A New Leaf says:

This was an awesome conclusion to this series. But I have to say… I really wouldn’t mind reading more about Cora’s life! The story is so good that I wanted to know more, more, more. I love that this story has intrigue, mystery, romance {a smidgen which is just fine by me!} and history. Reading this series is like getting a history lesson.

  • GLITTERING PROMISES is a really thick book – over 400 pages – but it draws the series out to a satisfying conclusion. It was very well done, as Ms. Bergren brought the Kensington family saga through many different trials to an ending that readers will be happy with.

  • Have you ever taken a great vacation and hated to see it end but at the same time glad it was over? That’s a bit how I felt about reading the last book of the Grand Tour series. I enjoyed reading about the wonderful places the family went and yet, knowing the tour was winding down was a bit of a relief. They were finally headed home to explore their future as different people. Hopefully, better men and women.

  • Glittering Promises is the third book and final book in Lisa T. Bergrens Grand Tour Series. If you’ve read books 1 & 2, you won’t want to miss Glittering Promises. If you haven’t read the first two books yet, you really must go back and read them before reading book 3. There is so much back information contained in the first two books that you really won’t be able to enjoy book 3 without having read them first.

Glittering Promises is a great read. There are many exciting moments, as well as tender family moments, and the growing faith of a young women learning to trust God with everything in her life.

  • Excellent ending to the Grand Tour series!! Loved this finale and how everything wrapped up. Totally pulled me in and I enjoyed the richness of detail and the characters as they matured. Wonderful series I have on my shelf!

  • The Grand Tour Series is a fantastic series and I am sorry to see it end. Lisa T. Bergren truly brings this story to a close that honors her characters and their stories. I truly enjoyed all three books in this series, finding myself anxious to read the next one. Lisa T. Bergren writes with authority about Europe and the world in 1913, all aspects of life and business in 1913, society, and Montana. As I read this novel I felt completely immersed in this world that Lisa T. Bergren created. I could not put this book down and found myself surprised when I got to the end. This novel has a little bit of everything: romance, suspense, action, and faith. Lisa T. Bergren shows not just the physical and emotional changes these characters go through but also spiritual changes, bringing them closer to God. The characters are well written and deep. Where they may seem shallow and superficial, as you go deeper into who they really are you find out it is just the opposite. It has been an honor to read this series and review it. If you enjoy Christian Historical Fiction, you will enjoy this book and this series. I look forward to seeing what Lisa T. Bergren comes out with next. I give this book and this series 5 stars.

  • Romance, intrigue and and self discovery convalesce in Glittering Promises. For three books readers have been drawn in to the captivating world of the rich and infamous while exploring the architectural and cultural marvels of Europe via proxy. The third instalment is as nuanced historically as its predecessors with the perfect landscape physically and emotionally for a complex coming of age story. With tenuous relationships and new family ties constantly put to the test, Cora is desperate to find her true identity in the midst of her colliding worlds. Lisa executes several daring plot twists flawlessly while maintaing the integrity of the characters and themes that have been imbedded within the story since the onset. As much a story about spiritual awakening and personal acceptance.

  • By The Book says:

Glittering Promises is the concluding novel in Lisa T. Bergren’s sweeping The Grand Tour series. Cora Diehl Kensington has certainly matured since she was introduced as a humble Montana farm girl. Throughout the series Cora has had to wrestle with her identity and place in the world. In this final book Cora steps confidently into her future — a great conclusion to this grand saga.

Lisa Bergren has created a series fraught with danger, deception, and illusions amidst the backdrop of Europe of the early 1900s. Times certainly have changed — women’s rights, collapse of social barriers — but the truths of who we are in the world and in God remain the same. Cora discovers the power of love and forgiveness as she embarks on the life she is carving out for herself.

  • I love how Lisa’s writing really paints a picture for you of where her characters are. Not only in their destination but also in their lives. She has a very good style of pulling you into the characters thoughts and emotions and really getting you into their heads which helps connect you to the story and keep you invested in the outcome. You can be pretty confident in picking up this series that it is going to be a good read 🙂
The one thing I would advise with this book is to make sure that you have read the first two before picking this one up so you can continue along on Cora’s exciting adventure!!

  • I found Glittering Promises to be a good ending to the trilogy. Although I would have liked to read less of Cora’s doubts about Will and their jealousies towards other people showing attention to the other. Other than that, it was a solid read that will leave readers satisfied. I enjoyed reading about the Italian and Roman history, and thought Bergren did an excellent job of incorporating it into the story. I hope Bergren returns to tell us more of Cora’s return to Montana and how her siblings fare after their return from the grand tour.

  • In Glittering Promises, Cora’s rags-to-riches journey continues as she discovers who she really is, who she wants to be, and the price involved in each decision. Will it cost her the love of the man she really wants? How will her decision define her future? Cora discovers that “all that glitters isn’t gold” as she untangles who truly loves her for herself, who wants to control her and her fortune, and what God wants for her life.

  • As a romance, it’s probably pretty obvious that Glittering Promises wasn’t my favorite, but as a coming of age tale, it is definitely worth the read, along with the previous two books in the series.

  • From the beautiful covers to the interesting characters, engaging dialog and vivid prose, Lisa T. Bergren has written a winning series – and Glittering Promises provides a satisfying conclusion to a rich story.

  • There isn’t a historical series that has been more of a whirlwind than this atmospheric trilogy revolving around a girl coming of age in the most unusual circumstances. Classifying this as a “historical” is fair yet somehow doesn’t seem fitting since this novel covers so much ground (so much more than merely a historical delight), and seems unafraid to tackle deep-seated emotional scars as well as the delights of each city it visits – from the City of Lights to the Ruins of Rome.

  • I enjoyed seeing Italy through the characters eyes and watching the romances blossom and another one fade away. It all seemed like a simpler time back then, yet danger and fear still hung overhead.

  • Glittering Promises doesn’t disappoint as it wraps up loose ends and gives a happy ending. Despite being over 400 pages, I read the book fairly quickly, mostly because I was hooked into the intriguing plot. Overall, Glittering Promises is a wonderful end to the series, but I do hope the author revisits the characters in the near future.

  • As with the second book of the Grand Tour series, Glittering Promises takes off almost immediately after the closing scene of the previous title. This is a series you need to read in the order in which they were released. This is the final title, and it’s set entirely in Italy. For those of you who have read the previous two books, polish up your Italian, grab a grape-based drink (be it wine or juice) and settle in for more travelogues, drama, and heartbreak.

Glittering Promises contains plenty of twists and revelations. I couldn’t put this book down. I kept telling myself, “One more chapter before bed,” and I ended up staying very late in order to finish it! The ending left me in tears and wanting more.

  • Set against the glorious backdrop of the cities and hillsides of Italy, “Glittering Promises” transports readers to a time and a place that is so delightful they won’t want to leave! Featuring the same cast of characters that readers have come to know and love, Bergren’s latest book is a satisfying conclusion to the Grand Tour series.

  • WV Stitcher says:

I did enjoy the rich historical details of the journey that we take with the characters. I felt like I was on the Grand tour with them. The author does an amazing job of describing places and events really allowing the story to come to life.

  • If you like historical romance and want to escape into beautiful European cities, this will be an enjoyable series.

  • Lisa Bergren really has a way with words. I have been blessed to visit Rome and through her depictions I feel as though I’ve also been to the Tuscan countryside (and now it’s on my bucket list).

I was worried (because I am a worrier) about how the story would come together and end. I could not forsee working all this out but Lisa did in a satisfying way. It was a good ending to good trilogy.

I love that the overall running theme of Glittering Promises is learning the embrace the love of the Heavenly Father- HE is our One, True, Forever Love!!!!

  • Glittering Promises is an intriguing mix of romance, adventure, mystery, and faith. I recommend this entire series to fans of good historical fiction with a Christian perspective.

  • This is book three in The Grand Tour Series and I’ve been so anxious to read it! It did not disappoint! You can read this book as a stand alone book, however, you’re going to miss out on a great series, so I totally recommend you get the first two books and read them, too. You won’t be disappointed!

  • The conclusion to the “Grand Tour” series promised to be full of drama – and that promise did not go unfulfilled! From health issues to job woes…from travel dangers to numerous threats to the heart…Glittering Promises is engaging and, overall, satisfying.

  • This was quite the roller coaster ride, and the writing was above par with the character conflicts, the historic detail, and the beautiful backdrop of Italy.

  • What a splendid completion of The Grand Tour Series! I was absolutely swept away in the story, and found it to be an even better completion to the series than I’d first anticipated, leaving me in delighted awe once I finished the story! For sure Glittering Promises is my favorite book out of all the novels in The Grand Tour series, and I just loved the way the tour ended as well as how Cora came to “find” herself in Christ after struggling with her identity in the previous books.

  • I think Glittering Promises is the best book of all three books! It had so many adventures, history, love/romance, and unexpected events that I was on the edge of my seat the whole book!

  • I felt a little bit of whiplash reading this part of the trilogy because it seemed things were happening quickly, but it was a wonderful read and I was sad to close the back cover.

  • Lisa’s writing enchants me and I can hardly believe this series is coming to an end. I suppose I will have to go on a tangent of reading her teen fantasy books of which I am not yet familiar.

  • I really enjoyed this third book because it answers all of the questions you have from the first and second books. There was so much going on in this entire series, and Ms. Bergren does a fantastic job of pulling all of the tension, twists and turns and unhealthy relationships together to give readers a most amazing finale that will stick with you for many days to come!

You really need to read all three books to understand the full story. This series is well worth your time and money, you will not be disappointed!

  • Glittering Promises is a stunning finale to the Grand Tour Series.

I loved how I was thrown for a loop so many times, expecting Cora or Will or any of the other characters to act one way only to find that they acted in a completely different–completely perfect–way (perfect meaning exactly-how-they-should-have).

Exactly when I thought all was well, tension made the happy-ending I thought I saw coming grind to a halt. Then when things couldn’t get any worse, well…the ending is ah-mazing.

  • You won’t want to miss the stunning conclusion to the Grand Tour series. Full of intrigue and strategy, business and pleasure, this heartwrenching love story is the perfect ending to this trilogy. I love the way that Bergren wraps up each detail and finishes out the story. Although you think you know the ultimate romantic conclusion, Bergren keeps you guessing – and I never would’ve predicted the final players in the battle between ‘good’ and evil.’

  • Out of all the books I’ve anticipated reading this fall, Glittering Promises was at or near the top. I have loved reading Lisa Bergren’s Grand Tour series – the characters are just fantastic and I love all the rich locations and history in the books. Glittering Promises completely met my expectations and I just loved it!

  • Christy Award winner, Lisa Bergren writes in a way that draws you in and makes you feel as if you are touring alongside them. I couldn’t believe that Pierre returns to this story, how I wish someone would have slapped him!

  • History, romance, family drama and suspense all bundled together into one very entertaining story. The Cinderella story continues.

  • As much as I loved about the book, there was one thing that I REALLY disliked: The book ended! Oh the nerve, the author only wrote three books in this series? That’s robbery! What am I supposed to do now? 😉 In reality though, this series is definitely in my top ten!Overall, I believe this was one of the most well written series I have ever read. I just loved the setting, the plot was wonderful, and, need I mention Will? This series will be one of your favorites for sure!

  • I found the beginning of Glittering Promises to be a bit slow, but it quickly gained momentum. The love triangle of Cora, Pierre, and Will, was compelling in itself! I wasn’t ever sure who Cora was destined to marry. But my goodness, the end was an absolute surprise to me! Through her words, Lisa T. Bergren painted vivid images of Europe on every page. The history, architecture and stories of the Grand Tour is a delightful education for readers! Oh, but don’t let me forget the passion! The baths at Saturnia- be still my heart! Will and Cora’s interlude at Cascate del Mulino made my pulse race…

  • This is another book that I think has a stunning cover that must be commented on. It is beautiful and sets the stage for the story inside. I could hardly wait to read this book when I got it and made myself wait until I had finished a few other books first.

I am a big fan of Lisa T. Bergren’s Grand Tour series. I felt like I have traveled with the characters through Europe and have seen the many sights that they have seen. I’ve been put back into 1913 and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I have yet to be disappointed from a story told by Lisa T. Bergren.

One of my favorite parts of this book is the historical notes section at the end. I love reading not only how the story came to be, but about the struggles that Bergren had in writing this book.

  • The Grand Tour Series is a wonderful read. The incredible sights and sounds of Europe in the early 1900s are brought to life on each page. The three book series allows Bergren the time and space to fully develop each character and delve into depths of the story; and yet she has managed to do so without slowing down the pace of the story. It’s full of fast paced action, beautiful locations and endearing characters. The ending is more completely fleshed out than most fiction books these days. A very satisfying conclusion to a fabulous journey!

  • Overall, I enjoyed having the opportunity to finish the Grand Tour series by reading this title. The characters were quite familiar at this point in time and I loved seeing how they all grew and matured during the short summer time frame. You saw how outside forces kept trying to thwart Cora’s ability to fully develop into the new role she was placed into when the summer began. And, the tension is high for her romance with Will as the nobleman from France, Pierre, continues to vie for her heart even after being told she only has eyes for Will.
One thing I loved about this particular title was all the lush descriptions of Italy. It had me longing to be on location to experience the sights and smells ‘in the flesh’.

  • Barb Shelton says:

Having no prior knowledge of Cora’s story made it a mystery as I began to peruse, and excitingly turned into one of the most compelling stories I have read. Ms Bergren was an unknown author to me, but now – she is a favorite on my list of exceptional writers. Her books will certainly begin appearing on my bookshelves from now on.

  • A lovely conclusion to an amazing series!

I was so excited to find Glittering Promises in my mailbox! I have followed the series from the beginning and I’ve loved every single installment. That being said, I’m incredibly sad to have read the final pages. Nonetheless, I’m glad to have watched the Kensingtons grow and mature on this Grand Tour. I will share my thoughts without spoilers, but it should go without saying that you need to find your own copy and dive in!

  • Life isn’t as easy as you might think for the daughter of Wallace Kensington (Montana’s Copper King). She has won her battle to have controlling interest of the Diehl Kensington Mine, and now is learning to manage the new gift’s God has given her. Another challenge that both Cora and her siblings face is the constant press hounding for the latest story of America’s newest heiress. Cora wonders how to reconcile the privileges and responsibilities of her new life, and still honor the past.

  • Espionage within plotting to destroy or bring freedom? Does Wallace Kensington plan on restoring his wealth to his daughter or is he using her for his own gain?

  • Decisions prove to be futile in this story or is it just Glittering Promises? Another good one by Lisa Tawn Bergren!

  • The IE Mommy says:

Does the Grand Tour Series really have to end? Glittering Promises is the last book in the series and I am sad to see these characters go.

I have enjoyed traveling with the characters and watching their faith grow. The author Lisa T. Bergren weaves faith throughout the books which is inspiring. I would recommend that you read the first two books in the series Grace Consequences and Glamorous Illusions because they are just as fantastic as the last.

Glittering Promises takes place in Italy my favorite country so I thoroughly loved being able to travel there throughout the story. Through the authors imaginative pen I was able to see great details right down to the velvet seat covering in the Gondola. She paints such a fresh picture that you there is not one detail that is missed.

I see Cora as a good example for Christian young women to look up to. She holds herself with great respect and always puts God first. Her relationship with Will takes has many challenges but doesn’t any new young relationship? I would highly recommend Glittering Promises to young teen readers because it is a wonderful example of how to put God first in your life and its relationships.

  • I loved the time period it was set in, and the detailed description Bergren uses. Instead of just reading, I took a journey through some of Italy’s most breathtaking places. Glittering Promises will find a home on many people’s favorite list. I know it’s on mine!

  • Bergren had a great way of developing the characters and describing in detail the places they were. The book kept me guessing as to what came next.

  • What a stunning conclusion to one of my favorite series! The author takes the final book in the Grand Tour series to focus more or relationships- those of Cora and her father, and of her travelmates. Some incredibly heartbreaking things happen to our main characters and no one is left untouched.

  • Overall I enjoyed my 1900’s summer vacation to England, Austria, France, and Italy with dashing heroes, wonderful balls, and experiencing the interesting sights and people. Though the journey is over, I am satisfied with the way things turned out and how neatly Lisa cut off every loose thread.

  • Cara Putman says:

I have thoroughly enjoyed Lisa T Bergren’s Grand Tour through Europe and the restoration of a family. The characters are real, the locations so alive that I want to hop the next plane.

  • Once again, I was blown away by the quality of Bergren’s writing, and by my intense longing to visit Europe, and in particular, Italy.

  • These books have given me a little bit of everything all wrapped into one. They were like a big birthday cake make from scratch providing: history, romance, adventure, action, and best of all, drama!

  • These books have given me a little bit of everything all wrapped into one. They were like a big birthday cake made from scratch providing: history, romance, adventure, action, and best of all, drama!

  • Lisa Bergren has never failed to bring her readers a new thrilling, touching, and memorable read — and Glittering Promises is no exception! The Grand Tour series was really interesting and I enjoyed learning about all the history behind the famous cities that they visited. I love history, so I think this part of the book was my personal favorite to read!

  • The final installment in this series finds us reading some very familiar characters. I like when we are able to spend time with people we feel like we already know. This book continues a lot of the themes and plotlines introduced in the earlier books. I found that made a few things feel a little repetitive, but overall there was enough new stuff to make it all feel fresh.

  • Lisa T. Bergren brings her Grand Tour series to a grand conclusion with Glittering Promises. What a saga this has been as Cora has been swept away from her life in Montana to a tour of Europe with the father she never knew existed and her new-found half-siblings! Bergren has saved plenty of action and suspense for this final novel as the group must still take care to avoid those who would harm Cora.

  • I have to say I am sad that the Grand Tour series is coming to an end. It has been one of my fave series to read this year, and Bergren is at the top of my list of fave historical fiction writers! Glittering Promises with a large book (over 400 pages!) but it was a delighterful conclusion to this fantastic series.

  • I have loved this series from the beginning and this latest book is no different. Cora discovered that she is a heiress…something that one might think is every little girl’s dream. She has to make financial decisions by thinking of siblings she didn’t know existed. I can imagine being in Cora’s place, but I honestly don’t think I would want the sudden, difficult decision-making. On top of the money, Cora is having difficulty with her relationship with Will. They aren’t following God’s plan and are letting jealousies get in the way. As a love interest, I still loved Will’s character. He comes off as such a gentleman.

  • This book has all the action, mystery, suspense and romance that the other books in this series had along with the perfect building up to the finale. I was not disappointed, a little shocked and surprised at the true colors of a couple of the characters. But that made a for a good twist to the story. So I suggest you read the series to find out what was so surprising about the characters.

Who will Cora choose to marry, If she marries at all?

  • After reading the first two books in the series (Glamorous Illusions and Grave Consequences) I wondered what else could be in store for the strong Cora Kensington and boy Lisa Bergren did not disappoint. With twists and turns at every corner Cora had to learn to stand on her own two legs, stand on her faith and stand on who God created her to be. Just when you think you have things figured out things change quickly and you find yourself left standing there with the wind knocked out of you…just as in life, you just never know what to expect.

  • I was pleased that suspense, mystery, and even sorrow were seamlessly woven into the story. It was encouraging to see some elements within the narrative that did not follow the typical Christian historical romance script.

  • I think in order to get the full picture of Europe, and the places Cora and her half-siblings visit it would be best to wait until the series is completed and available, or perhaps re-read as they are published. That will not be a hardship, because this is the type of novel where I expect that each time I read it, I will read or remember something new that I missed the last times around.

  • The word that best describes this book, and in fact the series as a whole is this: complete. Upon finishing I felt a fullness and a satisfaction that had me lingering just a little bit as I sat there and absorbed everything I had gained.

  • As the capstone to the story of a young woman’s coming of age in extraordinary circumstances, Glittering Promises — and indeed the Grand Tour series as a whole — are a reading experience not to be missed.
