Aloha Reef Christmas eNovellas

Holy Night:

One sinister phone call has derailed their wedding. Will they let it tear them apart forever?

A Christmas wedding on the beach—what could be more perfect? Poinsettias and fragrant pikake blossoms, soft sand and mistletoe, the gentle sound of the surf and the wedding march played on a ukulele. This wedding has been a long time coming, with Bane’s trust issues and Leia’s worries about her childlike sister, Eva.

Now they can hardly wait for the day to arrive. Thrilled to be a bridesmaid, Eva keeps trying on her ruffled dress. The tent is reserved, the caterers paid. Everything is going as planned—until Leia’s phone rings and her world skids out of control. A muffled voice informs Leia that Eva’s been kidnapped and will be killed unless Leia calls off the wedding without explanation—and no police! If she disobeys instructions and tells Bane, she’ll risk her beloved sister’s life. But how can she ever handle this without his help? And how can he ever trust her if she lies to him now?

Silent Night:

As Christmas day nears, Bree and her faithful search-and-rescue dog Samson follow the trail of a troubling mystery into the snowy forests of Rock Harbor.

Bree Matthews is preparing for Christmas guests, but her heart is reeling from the recent and tender loss of her unborn child. Her sister-in-law, Lauri, suddenly turns up on the doorstep of the lighthouse home Bree shares with her husband, Kade, in Rock Harbor. Secretive and withdrawn, Lauri seems curiously intent on discovering what happened to a parachuter who disappeared in the North Woods along Lake Superior’s icy shore.

As Bree and Samson, her search-and-rescue dog, plunge into the search, Bree wonders if Lauri may know more than she’s admitted about the parachuter. And then the clues lead them to the trail of a young woman whose family fears the worst about her disappearance.

Will the search on this snowy, silent night lead Bree and Samson to more than clues about the missing girl? And will Bree’s prayer for a baby ever be answered?

  • What a fun story! I really liked Bree … she just seemed so down-to-earth and a little feisty. My kind of woman! The mystery part of the story happened pretty quickly (but the book is only 80 pages!), but it was still an intriguing plot.

I really enjoyed the secondary story as well, which revolved around the relationship between an adoptive mom, a birth mom, and the baby given up for adoption several years prior. It was just a sweet story and really made me think.

  • Holy Night is another fun story from Colleen Coble! Although I haven’t read the other books in the Aloha Reef series, I was able to jump right in and really enjoyed getting to know Bane, Leia, Eva, and their friends/family. Bane and Leia seemed like such a “power” couple, and I was excited to see how they would respond to everything that was thrown at them. With that said, I was a little disappointed with Bane’s reaction to a few things. It just seemed … insensitive! (Perhaps reading the rest of the series will help me understand better!)

  • Holy Night – What more could you want? A wedding on the beach sounds great and at Christmas time. This novella by Colleen was a nice quick holiday read. You could almost smell the pikake blossoms (or in my case imagine their fragrance as I am not sure what they smell like) as well as the sea and hear the waves crashing as you settle in to read this book. Bane and Leia have been waiting for what seems forever for their wedding but will a phone call stop it all. There is mystery and suspense in this book that will keep you reading long into the night.

Silent Night – I found myself wanting to reach through the book from page one to give Bree a hug. Bree has suffered a loss when her sister in law shows up. Lauri seems to have something she is hiding and starts searching to solve the mystery of a parachuter who has disappeared. This was a book full of mystery and like Holy Night kept me up late wanting to finish this book. Colleen does a good job in grabbing you very quickly and holding your attention right to the end. I have not read any other of books from the Rock Harbor series and found it very easy to follow.

  • HOLY NIGHT – I have not read any of the Aloha Reef series, but thoroughly enjoyed this novella. In her trademark style, Coble expertly weaves romance and suspense into a story that also highlights how past hurts can impact current relationships.

SILENT NIGHT – Colleen Coble’s Rock Harbor series is well-loved by her readers, and it was a delight to revisit Bree and her family and see her on the trail with her SAR dog Samson. This is a perfect read for a cold night by the fireplace. I can’t imagine traipsing through the snow like Bree and Samson do during their searches and was happy to be warm while I read.

  • Silent Night….The Rock Harbor Series is one of my favorite series. It was really neat to read about a more mature Lauri too, since Kade had so many problems with her before. I just enjoyed the entire story! And this story is just what we have learned to love and expect from Colleen Coble!

Holy Night…Colleen Coble does is again! She creates a fast pace story full of so much suspense that you just can’t put the book down. It can easily be read in one setting. The characters are awesome, so well developed that you feel like they are part of your world. Each scene that happens seems so very real.

  • I have to admit that I am quite partial to Colleen Coble. I have yet to read a book from her that I didn’t like. There is just something about the way she draws you in to the book. With each and every page I want to know more and i hate to put the book down until I do. This book is no exception. She grabbed my attention from almost page one. The characters seem real and are going through real life problems, emotions, and life. After you have been in the book for a while Bree, Kade and even Samson seem very real and you want to know how things will turn out for them. I also love how it is set by the coast. I’m sure you will enjoy this treasure!

  • Plain Peace: I enjoyed catching up with my favorite characters and meeting new ones. Anna’s romantic dilemma made a dramatic conflict for this story, and her grandmother’s quirky habits added humor and fun throughout. I loved the way that the ending seemed to wrap up all the loose ends with a neat bow.

Silent Night: I really enjoyed this addition to the Rock Harbor series. The search-and-rescues are exciting and throwing adoption stories and missing people into the mix only ups the ante.

Holy Night: I really enjoy Colleen Coble’s writing style and liked that. I would be interested in reading other books in this series – but I’d like to start at the beginning.

  • It never ceases to amaze me how wonderful the books by Colleen Coble are. From the first book of hers I read to this one I have loved every minute of reading her works. This book was a joy for me. I love the books that she sets on the East Coast of the US, but this one had a fun change. It’s in Hawaii! It’s a lovely setting and filled with amazing characters who you just want to know all about, especially Leia and Eva. The mystery behind the kidnapping and all the events that take place keep you on the edge of your seat and not wanting to put the book down. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I am sure you will too!!
