  • I would love to visit Jerusalem and this beautiful picture book with reflective narrative, including scripture, gives me a chance to glimpse what I might experience. A variety of pictures capture the sights and history of Israel and take you on a journey flying high above the Holy Land. What a wonderful way to experience a touch of the beauty and history of The Holy Land.

  • Now this book is a bit smaller than most of the coffee table books I have but the pictures are fascinating and would make a great conversation piece for family visitors to your home.

  • When I saw the beautiful pictures showcased in Israel – God’s Heart: Landscapes and Legacy of Israel, I knew I had to review this book. I wasn’t disappointed!

  • snidbits says:

The pictures are stunning! It just amazes me to see pictures of Capernaum, Nazareth and the Jordan River. And I like the narrative that runs through the book. It just all comes together to beautifully show such an important part of our Christian faith.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed paging through this book. The photographs are beautiful, and I loved seeing every part of the Holy Land, both up close and personal and from above. It was a great look at a place I may never get to experience firsthand, and Gafni provides photographs of both desolate areas and highly populated city areas.

  • This makes a wonderful gift for those who imagine Jesus walking the dusty paths of Israel. Each glossy page has a visual wonder in store, bright and colorful. Interesting facts and captions provide insight into each image. A treasure!

  • Like a lot of Christian’s I would love to go to the land that Jesus walked, and this book gave me a wonderful glimpse into this beautiful country of Israel.
The artist Ron Gafni is very gifted and makes you feel like you are experiences this landscape first and full of facts that will keep you turning the pages.

  • Last fall, I traveled to Jordan and Israel, and to say that the experience of being in that part of the world changed me forever is an understatement. For weeks, I couldn’t even really put into words the great beauty of those countries and the time I spent there.
So when I opened this book and saw the beautiful aerial photography of the landscapes that are forever etched in my mind, it took my breath away!

  • I really enjoyed this book, the photography is beautiful and it included a lot of historic and Biblical sites. The narratives along side the photography was also very interesting, including matching Biblical scripture and explanations of each photograph. A very interesting book with beautiful photography of part of the Holy Land, that I may never get to see in person.

  • Ripe with historical detail, God’s Word, and breathtaking pictures of both the old and modern Israel, Israel-God’s Heart is a treasure to be appreciated and visited again and again.

  • I really enjoyed this book. It was fun to flip through the pages and see all the different aspects of this wonderful land. It held breathtaking moments, and delightful scenes.

  • I was truly in awe of all the images included in this delightful book. My son and I used it in our home school lesson plans one day as a part of our cultural studies and history. We really enjoyed seeing the modern look of the places we have read about in the Bible.

  • The photographs throughout are beautiful. It was very cool to see pictures of the Holy Land and the sites mentioned throughout the Bible.

  • This book is packed with stunninng photographs of Israel and combined with Bible verses and commentary which bring even more meaning to the images. I was very impressed with the wide variety of photos contained in this book. Photos showing the packed city from an ariel view contrast with agricultural and animal photos.

  • Buzz4Mommies says:

The pictures are just breath taking. I never realized how diverse the landscape is. I always pictured a dusty dessert, not rich colors and even richer populated areas. Reading through this book I felt as though I was a tourist!

  • I liked the way these photos capture the exotic, arid beauty of this tiny, multi-storied nation. But while the images are captivating — indeed, many are especially intriguing — I failed to grasp the author’s vision for this work.

  • What a fun little book – especially for those who want a glimpse into Israel and and some of popular areas. I thought the photographs were beautiful. I love seeing landmarks and cities from high above and this book provides plenty of views.

  • I’ll be honest – I was in this for the pictures and they didn’t disappoint. I’ve looked through this book many times since I’ve received it and the photos are stunning. Just looking at them brings about a sense of peace in some cases and a thoughtfulness in others.

  • This is an absolutely gorgeous book! The pictures are breathtaking and it’s amazing to see these historical sites from a bird’s-eye-view. I would love to be able to have some of these pictures blown up on my wall. The devotional thoughts tied in to some of the pictures and were short and to the point.

  • If you’ve always wanted to visit Israel-this book will only enchant your desire further as you take in each breathtaking view of a country rich in culture, history, and beauty. If you’ve been to The Holy Land-this book will delightfully refresh your memories and probably make you yearn to visit again.

  • Jami's Words says:

Israel, God’s Heart is a beautiful “coffee table” arrangement of aerial photographs that will take your breath away.

  • This small hardback book holds many breathtaking photographs of scenic places in Israel. I love looking at the pictures and hope someday I can actually visit these epic places from the bible. I love the reflective nature of the author’s words. They remind me of God’s almighty plan for us and His infinite wisdom. This book, though small, is impressive and would be a wonderful coffee table book or conversation piece.

  • Israel – God’s Heart was a trip down memory lane. I particularly appreciated the inclusion of corresponding Bible verses and commentary about each picture. Biblical names and places often blur together for me; visiting Israel back in 2010 certainly made them come alive, but as time marches on, let’s just say my memory isn’t what it used to be. This book recaptures those memories, inspires me to make new ones, and tides me over until they become reality. Absolutely beautiful book!

  • This would make a great coffee table book or a book to go along with your Bible study. I found it also a very educational and unique way for even children to learn about and “see” Israel.

  • Though it is on the smaller side, as far as “coffee table” type books go, it has a tremendous amount of photos packed within the pages. The unique part about this book is the fact that almost all of the pictures are from above, giving us a “bird’s eye view” of various parts of Israel.

  • I don’t usually start a book review off by talking about the photography or the illustrations but it was one of my favorite things about this book. The aerial views were beautiful! It made me do some extra research to see what certain things looked like closeup. I really liked how it captured the absolute beauty of the Holy Land. My second favorite thing about this book is the narrative that goes along with some of the pictures. Using Scripture, the narrative reminds us of the greater purposes of life within our everyday lives. It is almost like a mini devotional in some sections and a tour guide/history lesson in others. It ties in modern Israel with the biblical times.

  • The most interesting part of the book was seeing what the modern town of Nazareth looks like. It is much more built up than I imagined from Scripture and it made me wonder if there were anywhere close to that many buildings there during Bible times.

  • In this book, you will find many of the familiar places you’ve read about in Scripture. How many of us wish we could travel overseas and see the Holy Land for ourselves? Since many of us will not have that opportunity, here is a wonderful glimpse that you can take in with your own eyes and see how beautiful the Holy Land really is. I thought this book was well done and just loved looking through the pictures.

  • I enjoyed looking through this book, reading the photo comments, and getting a view of Israel from above. The authors did a great job of putting this book together, and it would make a great coffee table book.

  • The photos in Israel – God’s Heart are stunning! Beautiful! Amazing! I’ve never been to Israel in person (it’s on my bucket list), but this book was the next best thing. What a blessing to read the narrative that went along with the photos, as well. The readings combined with the photos truly spoke to my heart and made me so thankful for God’s grace that makes it possible for me to be a part of God’s family and chosen people.

  • I enjoyed reading about Israel and learning about the amazing sites there. The history is rich and vital to many. As you look at the pictures, take time to enjoy the beauty and soak in the history of the Holy Land.

  • My father had always desired to visit the Holy Land and walk where his Saviour, Jesus, walked. That never happened. Dad was a knowledgeable and astute teacher of the Bible though a lay person. He would have thoroughly enjoyed this little book, Israel – God’s Heart for the lovely pictures and insightful text.

  • The book would make a nice addition to most Christian homes. The pictures are well done and intriguing, the landscapes are fascinating, and the devotional thoughts can be uplifting. The book can make a nice gift.

  • This is a timeless treasure of photos from Israel. I would recommend this beautiful book.

  • Israel-God’s Heart is a book filled with beautiful photography of the Holy Lands. I enjoyed getting to see the landscape and scenery—some of which was quite different from I had imagined.

This book would be a wonderful gift for someone planning a trip to Israel or for a photography buff.

  • More of Him says:

This is an absolutely gorgeous book! It is one I’ve looked through over and over again. It’s so uplifting, informational, and inspiring. I highly recommend this book and it would be a great book for yourself or as a gift.

  • As I looked through this wonderful little book, I felt like I was able to visit the Holy Land without leaving my home. It was so beautiful to see. God’s Heart is a wonderful way to describe what I saw in the pages of this book.

  • Fruitbearers says:

Ron Gafni’s aerial photography is remarkable. Kathleen Barrett’s Biblical narratives are insightful. In this book, the Holy Land’s ancient landscapes are beautifully captured while its legacy of God’s redemptive love story is clearly told. It is indeed a rare treat for anyone to be able to experience Israel from a bird’s eye view. It offers a unique perspective.

  • This is a beautifully photographed book of Israel that includes the story of God’s love for us all that has its roots in this historical place. Kathleen Barrett’s brief narratives walk us through God’s scriptural story of salvation for mankind. Ron Gafni’s colorful modern aerial images reflect Kathleen’s words.

  • Ron Gafni is a professional aerial photographer that has taken many beautiful pictures of the landscapes in Israel. Even if you have had the opportunity to visit the Holy Land (as I have), you will enjoy seeing it from a completely different perspective.

  • Going to Israel is many believers dream, but not everyone is able to go. This book is a great pictorial of the Holy Land, which includes pictures, Bible verses, descriptions of what you see as well as significant historical events which are tied in to them.

  • I know I probably will not be able to go Israel but it would be a dream to go. But this book helped me in seeing what you would see it is sure beautiful. The photos were absolutely gorgeous. I absolutely loved seeing them.

  • What a detailed glimpse into modern day Israel! This book weaves ancient history with today’s busy lifestyles, not just through gorgeous photography, but also through fantastic paragraphs on each page. The book is simply exquisite!

  • If you have ever imagined in your mind what certain places in the Bible look like today, then I have a book recommendation that you will want to check out!

Broken down into five sections, Israel- God’s Heart, offers a beautiful pictorial view through stunning full color modern-day photographs of the Holy Land. Some photographs are full page and some are smaller but all are a beautiful and vibrant representation of the land in which we read about in our bibles. The pictures were taken from an aerial view point. The author does a good job of bringing out the diversity of the land within Israel. The author also gives descriptions and information about each of the locations as well as scripture references when the location is one that the Bible refers to.

  • The photos in this book tell a story and I found them to be very interesting, I wish there had been a little more explanation with each. There’s a caption with each one and they include wildlife, landmarks such as the Dead Sea, and more. So much history in such a small book. Well worth having if you have any interest in Israel.

  • Noveltea says:

Flipping through the book I wasn’t overly impressed, but when I stopped and took time to look at each picture and read the description, then it came alive. This book is so neat, and full of amazing pictures from Israel. It made me really want to study the landscape and history of Israel more. I’ve read a lot of books (both fiction and nonfiction) that took place in Israel, and this book gave a actual look at a lot of the places I’ve read about. I’m quite pleased indeed that I own this book so I can look through it whenever I want to.

  • I have read through the book at least 20 times, seeing new things each time. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves photographs and wants to see the Holy Land. I give this book 5+ STARS.
