Seagrass Pier

In a secluded corner of Hope Beach, one woman must decipher a stranger’s memories . . . before they cost her everything.

Elin Summerall was one of the lucky ones. Not only did she get a heart transplant, but the donor was a perfect fit. A miraculously perfect fit.

But when Elin begins having violent flashbacks—and vivid dreams of being strangled—she realizes that she has been the recipient of more than just a new heart . . . Elin is remembering her donor’s murder.

Her strange affliction has attracted some unwanted attention: from the press, from the authorities . . . and from the killer himself. Now, living alone with her young daughter and aging mother, Elin is being stalked—by a man she’s only met in her nightmares.

The police are dubious of her story, but one off-duty FBI agent is eager to help her: Agent Marc Everton, the father of Elin’s daughter.

Of course, he doesn’t know about that. Yet.

Now, in a remote cottage on Hope Island, Elin and Marc must probe the secrets buried in her borrowed heart. And there’s no time to waste. One man is desperate to silence her—before she remembers too much.

  • Seagrass Pier is another wonderful book by Colleen Coble. It is filled with intrique and romance.

  • Wow! Colleen Coble has outdone herself once again! I haven’t read any of the other books in this series, but after what I just experienced, I definitely want to!

Seagrass Pier seized me in the first few pages. You begin with a thrill, an air of mystery, some suspense, and a dash of romance, all within the very first chapter. The story moved at the perfect speed as we hit the ground running with an addictive plot. It is a contemporary engaging work and I was truly on the edge of my seat the entire time, frantically turning pages to see what was going to happen next. If you like a book that moves fast and carries multiple key elements that require resolution, then this is definitely the book for you.

  • This is my first book in the Hope Beach series and I have to say that I wish I had discovered this series sooner. This book is top-notch in romantic suspense and very much in keeping with Colleen Coble’s writing style in her other romantic suspense series. With such a unique and well written plot I was literally hooked from the very first paragraph and it’s very rare that I can say that. It kept me guessing throughout the entire book, never really disclosing the killer until the last part of the story, and that kept my mind constantly working on whodunit theories. I absolutely loved the fast-paced feel of the book. In a nutshell, Colleen Coble is the Queen of Christian Romantic Suspense. She draws you in quickly and keeps you guessing. You can’t go wrong with this book. Highly recommended!

  • This book has it all, love, romance, family faith, and total suspense. I was glued to the book because I had to figure out the ending. I was surprised and very shocked when I got to the end of the book. Colleen Coble is a fantastic author and I love all of her books. This has to be one of my favorites. I give this book a 5/5. –

  • This book is a great addition to the Hope Beach Series, including many familiar faces from the previous books yet standing securely on its own. There are many diverse characters each adding to the depth of the story.

This book is very fast paced, with plenty of action and mystery. It is a bit graphic in violence with some mature themes, so I would give a small warning. But this book also has strong heroes, who refuse to cower in fear.

Overall, this was a fantastic book that had me glued to the page. the plot was riveting and thrilling. taunt with suspense and great character interaction and dialogue. A heart pounding book that you won’t want to miss!

  • Seagrass Pier by Colleen Coble keep me at the edge of my seat from the very beginning. I love books written by Colleen Coble and I am glad that I had the chance to read and review this one. This is a Hope Beach Novel part of a series. Elin thought that her life would be better when she was able to get a heart transplant. It turned out to be something she never would have expected. She receives help with her horrible problem from a person that she never would see again. I love the storyline and the twists and turns throughout the book. I give this book a 4/5. I was given this book by Litfuse Publicity Group and all opinions are my own.

  • A sit on the edge of your seat adventure unlike anything I have ever read before. I thought I had an idea of where Colleen Coble was going in the book, but the twists, turns and unexpected character adventure caught me completely off guard. To top it off you are dropped right in the middle of it from the first couple of pages, which was a brilliant way to draw the reader in fast.

  • Incredible novel! Full of suspense and mystery – always kept me on the edge of my seat! A definite must read!

  • “Seagrass Pier” was a page-turner from the very start and the suspense grew with each chapter. As the story progressed, the suspect list grew along with more than one surprising twist to the tale. Characters and dialogue were well developed and natural. As expected, a romance between Elin and Marc was inevitable yet 100% believable. Both Marc and Elin were flawed but admirable characters whose concern for others was obvious. Although not a predominate factor in the story, Marc and Elin’s faith during their trials was apparent.

  • I found the plot to Seagrass Pier intriguing. It’s not often I read about heart donors, but to add that the heroine remembers her donor’s last moments and who her killer is, that makes for some great suspense. Add that Elin’s paired with the one man she shares a past with and it’s a set up for great conflict and romance.

Seagrass Pier has all of this and more. I truly didn’t know who the bad guy was until the reveal. There was a beautiful secondary story about fear that I really enjoyed. There was a heartbreaking look at dementia and caregiving. Beyond the donor story there was also a treasure mystery. I thought maybe there would be too many things going on, but I don’t think that’s the case. I liked the diary/treasure story, too.

With the backdrop of the Outer Banks, I can’t think of a more entertaining summer read.

  • I love this book! Colleen takes us back to Hope’s Beach, and she also introduces us to cell memory. Memory that a person who has received a transplant may remember from the person who they received the transplant from. This book is full of suspense, romance, a sweet little girl named Josie.
Elin has received a heart transplant from a murdered woman named Laura. She has dreams of Laura’s murder which makes her very dangerous to the murderer. I haven’t read a book with this much suspense in a long time and I loved every minute of it.

  • Moments says:

I have really enjoyed Colleen’s Hope Beach series and “Seagrass Pier” is a great addition to the series! The setting is beautiful and a perfect backdrop for these stories and I have loved the characters in each of these books and I love that we get to “revisit” some of the characters once again. Elin and Marc are both strong main characters and they are so easy to connect with right away.

  • Coble has crafted a very interesting novel centering on “cell memory,” experiences heart transplant recipients have – memories of the donor. The theme of what really gives a person identity is huge in this book and would make a good discussion for a reading group. Add death threats and you have suspense. Bring in a FBI agent and you have the possibility for romance. A well written novel with lots of action and much to think about.

  • This was a great book. I was so involved in who the killer was that I forgot that I was reading a Christian book! I loved that only Marc believed her, and their story was definitely interesting. There is also a feeling of hope, because Elin got a heart, however no one expected what came with it. I am giving this book a 5/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own.

  • This was such a dynamic book. Unique for sure! Colleen has a way of making her characters jump off the page and right into your living room. The characters are so realistic and reachable. This story line seemed a bit far fetched and some authors wouldn’t have been able to pull it off, but Colleen skillfully convinced us of the probability with her words. She skillfully weaves budding romance in her novels that I just love. Probably my favorite part of her work is the suspense. Just enough to keep you on the seat of your chair without freaking you out. I read it in one sitting, which makes me feel bad that she takes so much effort and time to write it and then I just whip right through it! Well I do that because I can’t put it down, it was just that good!

  • I was more than surprised to find myself reading this late one night and getting pretty scared while walking around my own home. To me, that is a sign of a great novel! One that takes me beyond words on a page and instead places me in the heart-pounding action like Elin’s character who is being stalked in a cat and mouse like game of suspense. One of the best suspense novels I’ve read in quite some time and easily enough for me to give this one a 5 out of 5 stars in my book. Warning: You might want to read this one during the daytime! It’s pretty suspenseful to read at night!!!

  • All I can say is “WOW!”
A Five Star book!! I would recommend it to all readers. For those of you who think you don’t like mysteries, try this one! Colleen Coble uses her talents in characters, plot and intrigue to produce the BEST of her creations!!

  • I appreciate a book with believable characters, plots I can’t figure out and descriptions that make me feel as if I’m part of the story. Colleen Coble meets all my expectations and a little bit more in Seagrass Pier.
When you read a lot like I do, sometimes stories begin to all sound like the same with the same old tired story line. Coble never ceases to amaze me with a fresh perspective. This most recent offering from her will grab you and draw you in from the very beginning…and the way she keeps the story moving, you won’t stop until you turn the last page. • A genuinely awesome read. I enjoyed this book immensely. The plot and/or plots & story are so intense and gratifying. I think older teens and adults will really like this book.

  • This book is a nonstop thrill from start to finish!
I was completely hooked from page one and literally could not stop reading.
I was totally enthralled in the lives of the characters and all of the issues they were dealing with, not to mention the heart-stopping suspense!
This one will have you guessing until the very end!
If you are a fan of dynamite romantic suspense….don’t miss Seagrass Pier.
I personally cannot wait to check out more books in the series.

  • An entertaining and suspenseful story!

  • I loved this book! I flew through it! It was a fast paced romantic suspense novel that had strong characters that I immediately felt connected too. I enjoyed the story, the idea of cell memory from transplant organs is a new subject for me and I enjoyed it!

  • Best Reads says:

An adrenaline rush of a read! Kind of eerie, definitely goosebumpy, my heart revved up with every turned page. A unique premise gives this incredible suspense a real edge. And Elin and Marc’s complicated past made their romance that much more intense. I just couldn’t put this book down.

  • I really enjoyed the romance between Elin and Marc. Their dynamic as they work together to bring a killer to justice was fantastic. There are some big hurts that must be overcome and trust to be regained. This story does a great job of reminding us that God forgives and we need to as well.

The diary entries that transport the reader back in time and tell the history of the home really added a lot to the story for me as well. There are so many threads throughout this book that are interesting and also kept me guessing about who might be out to silence Elin.

  • This book was fantastic-I couldn’t put it down!! It was a mixture of suspense, drama and clean romance with an incredible story line. I read it within a couple of days although I would have loved to read it in one night, but life gets in the way. 😉 Within reading the first couple chapters, I was already hooked and impressed with the character plot and story line that I told several people about it and recommended they read it. The story line kept me guessing who the “bad buy” was the whole time-it was not predictable or boring. I also liked the historical mini story within the story about the owner of the house and how it tied into the main plot line.

  • Colleen Coble’s novels, for me, are marked by three factors.
The first factor is the setting, a locale that is always carefully described and full of charm. Beautiful shoreline, peaceful nights… and crime.
The second is a small “family” of main characters who you really come to love.
And the third factor is suspense. Colleen stirs a ton of mystery into her tales.

This novel was engaging with a capital E. If you’re in the market for a character driven who-done-it, with a stay in a lovely old beach house included, then this is your book.

What a great Summer 2014 Vacation Read this would be.

  • Colleen has such a way of writing that I was pulled into the mysterious dreams and suspense. Ooh, did I mention turns and twists that kept me reading way after bedtime?

  • I have been loving Colleen Coble’s Hope Beach series, and Seagrass Pier is another gripping read. An expert at romantic suspense, Coble raises the chill factor of this novel by adding the facet of cell memory into the story, and the danger stalking Elin and the accompanying emotions are palpable. . . .Tense moments abound in this story, making it impossible to put down.

  • A major theme throughout Seagrass Pier is the question of identity. Elin exhibits some markedly different behaviors after her surgery. Consequently, she starts to wonder if she’s losing losing her identity and taking on that which belonged to her heart’s donor.

This is a novel filled with various twists, turns and red herrings. We learn the identity of one “baddie” early on, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s game over. Little clues appear here and there that make you wonder if there’s more than one nefarious plot going on. I couldn’t make up my mind until almost the end. Despite several seemingly different story lines going on in the course of the novel, I wasn’t confused as each was clearly defined.

  • Book by Book says:

Colleen Coble does it again! Seagrass Pier is an intriguing blend of romance and suspense, full of twists, turns and sweet moments. It’s definitely worth a read this summer – you can’t go wrong with a Colleen Coble book.

  • I thought this was the best book in the series. There was lots of action, suspense and tension along with romance. There was more than one story going on at a time, but they were exciting and not difficult to keep track of. I thought the author did a great job weaving the different storylines together. I also enjoyed the Christian aspect of both main characters and how they dealt with their past sins or learned to deal with it, depending on the character. The both put God first and had a desire to help others. They were generous to strangers without expectation of being rewarded or having their generosity returned, but because it was how they believed God wanted them to act. I eagerly look forward to the next new series Colleen Coble has to offer.

  • My first thought is that the novel would get predictable, but thanks to the author’s great writing skills, all possible cliches were avoided. Overall, Seagrass Pier is a surprisingly modern day thriller that I enjoyed reading and I recommend to others.

  • This is another great book by one of my favorite authors. Colleen Coble has written another book for the Hope Beach Series; Seagrass Pier. I think what I like the most about the Hope Beach Series is the suspense mixed with a little romance. Colleen has a way of keeping you in suspense, leading you down a path and then throwing you a twist. I just love the way she develops the characters and the story throughout the whole book! Like the other books in this series, Seagrass Pier is set in a lovely area that Colleen describes so well you feel like you are there with her. Each of the characters is believable, and never seem contrived just to make the story move along. From the first few pages you are drawn to Elin and what is going on in her life. It never gets slow or bogged down and it will keep you going until the last page. I just loved it!!

  • My Thoughts About The Book: I am a huge Colleen Coble fan. Seagrass Pier is an awesome addition to the Hope Beach Series. Even though there are some familiar faces from the previous books in the series it is definitely a stand alone. Coble is a wonderful developer of the character and her characters in this book leap off the page. The book is very fast paced and you are drawn into the story from the start. There is plenty of action and mystery. The bit of graphic in violence and mature themes surprised me a bit, so I feel I should give a small warning. Still even with the violence and mature themes this was one fantastic read that had me glued to the chair from the very beginning. I could not put it down! If this book were a movie I would be at the premier. When I finished the last page I realized my heart was pounding and I had lost a whole day held captive in this story. It is a must read!

  • Just like the previous two books in her Hope Beach series, Seagrass Pier has just the right mix of romance and suspense. Colleen has put together an interesting cast of characters — several I would love to know in real life, and a few I would never want to run into. The suspense keeps the plot moving at a very intriguing pace and keeps you guessing about who the bad guys really are. The romance is very strong in the story and portrayed in ways I expect and appreciate in Christian fiction.

  • Elin had her hands full with her mothers declining health, lack of sleep due to the nightmares, people stalking her and FBI Agent Marc Everton, who happens to be Elin’s daughter’s father, who doesn’t know about his daughter. As usual, Colleen Coble and her awesome professional writing skills brings her fans and readers another nail biting suspense with a mixture of believable characters that will keep you awake at night because you have to see whodoneit!

  • Pinning down exactly what it is I enjoy about Colleen’s books isn’t easy. I’m not sure which component in her writing continually pulls me in, but what I do know, whatever the curiosity it always keeps me eagerly flipping the pages. Each of the “Hope Beach” novels have been the breezy kind of reads that define the term “beach read,” and while its setting does play host to reason why, it’s the deeper scars of the characters and its premise that keeps us engrossed (not to mention wishing we had a private beach to walk). Each one of the novelist’s books has unique individualities that could be pulled out of their respective pages or nice things that might be said about their characters, it’s the inclusive impression of each story…

  • Marc is the FBI agent in charge of finding who killed Laura, the donor of Elin’s heart. But, she has also drawn the attention of Laura’s killer who wants to silence her before she can give the FBI his name and description.

Will seeing Marc, an old friend push Elin to confess something she has been holding back from Marc?

There is another twist awaiting Elin that will turn this story upside down, so you really want to make sure and read this spellbinding book. You will not want to put this book down until you read the whole story. It’s full of action and twists that you won’t see coming.

  • Great story! I could not put the book down once I started.

  • This book will capture your attention from page one! Such a creative, out-of-the-box storyline. Filled with heart-pounding suspense “Seagrass Pier” will keep you guessing till the very end. Romantic suspense fans will love this book.

  • By The Book says:

Action-packed suspense is the hallmark of Colleen Coble’s newest offering in the popular Hope Beach series, Seagrass Pier. An old mystery and a new murder combine with stalkers, drug smugglers, and memories from a murder victim to form the background for a second chance romance. Combining all the things fans of romantic suspense would want, this novel is the perfect traveling companion for your next vacation.

All in all, I enjoyed Seagrass Pier. It’s beachy setting and suspense-filled pages are perfect for a summer read.

    Recommended.

  • A story filled to overflowing with mystery, intrigue, and action. This is the 3rd book in The Hope Beach Series.

  • Nothing Less says:

In a quick moment on a random lunch break at work, I opened the Kindle app on my phone (a hitherto hardly even glanced at app) and began reading…and I basically became glued to my phone for the next 48 hours. .. The writing was superb, characters relatable (even if I think perhaps the main character was a little too nonchalant about a killer stalking her! I’d have been scared beyond the ability to function!) and love story that you knew exactly where it was going but was exactly where you were rooting for it to go. There for a few different story lines and sometimes it felt maybe a little bit chaotic but that didn’t decrease the complete enjoyment that I felt through every turned (or swiped?) page.

  • Amy Bradsher says:

I can’t think of anything creepier than remembering someone else’s life. Forget the wanna-be murderer and the handsome FBI agent; you’ve got a fascinating story right there. Never knowing what’s real, what’s a dream, and what’s a cell memory would have me scared to walk around corners, but Elin’s both brave and tenacious, which makes her totally cheer-worthy.
Of course, it only gets better when you do consider the wanna-be murderer and the cute guy. And the adorable mystery-child and forgetful mother. The amazing beach location doesn’t hurt, either, and the appearances by other characters from this series add a layer of depth and polish that I appreciate.

  • This has been the best suspense series Colleen Coble has written, and this is the best of the series. As with the rest of the series, the book was set mostly in the Outer Banks, a favorite location of mine, which made it all the more interesting to me.

  • I loved this book. The suspense, mystery and action were all the perfect balance. Of course with any suspense, the goal of this reader and reviewer is to figure out who was trying to kill the heroine. I had it figured out, but there is a twist that you do not want to miss. Colleen Coble is a wonderful story teller and this book is just the result of that talent. A wonderful summer read. 5 stars from this reviewer.

  • Veronica's 'Views says:

I loved how Elin was determined to find the killer; the investigation was very interesting. The little romantic moments where Elin and Marc started to fall for each other were done well. I liked that they both had a strong faith, though Elin had a harder time forgiving herself for what had happened with Marc. There were many suspects and it was hard to figure out who the killer was; I loved the twist!

  • Packed with twists and turns that take the reader on a fast paced suspenseful ride, Seagrass Pier is probably my favorite book in Ms. Coble’s “A Hope Beach Novel” series. She has a knack for creating strong-willed, believable characters that once they pull you in, they never let go. Not even after you turn that last page.

I would highly recommend Seagrass Pier to anyone who enjoys a good clean suspenseful read. Ms. Coble always delivers well plotted and captivating novels that allows the reader to escape into a fast paced suspenseful world. This book reads as a stand-alone book but characters from the previous books are mentioned or have bit parts in this book. Go out an pick up a copy. I guarantee you, you will not be dissatisfied

  • As always Colleen has another hit with this installment in the Hope Beach series. I like that this book had a little bit of mystery mixed with a little romance. This story had me on the edge of my seat and not wanting to put the book down. It is hard to imagine what Elin went through thinking she was having flashbacks that she thinks come from her donor’s murder. I would have been scared out of my wits. At the same time it was interesting to read Elin’s story as you sometimes wonder what transplant recipients go through. Colleen did a good job with the characters in this book and making them seem like they could be someone you know. If you are looking for a good mystery I suggest you pick this book up.

  • “Seagrass Pier” is a thriller in that Elin’s life is in danger practically from the first page. Ms. Coble is dealing with issues that are fresh from a medical perspective and certainly worth exploring from a spiritual perspective.

  • Seagrass Pier by Colleen Coble is the must-read novel of a young woman whose life is turned upside down when she realizes that the woman whose heart she received during her transplant was violently murdered – and slowly, she is beginning to remember and relive the memories.

The suspense is palpable and not only will you find yourself drawn into the lives of the characters, but you’ll find yourself unable to out the book down until you find out how each and every unexpected twist within the plot resolves itself!

Whether this is your first – or first in a series of books you have read by Colleen Coble – chances are, it won’t be your last!

Colleen is a potent storyteller who does not disappoint.

A standalone novel that I highly recommend!

  • As always, Coble pens an interesting story that is hard to put down. If ever you’re in search of a quick romantic read with mysterious undertones, her books are some of the best you can reach for. The Hope Beach series, while not my all-time favorite by the author, is still a set of worthwhile reads. Hopefully, there will be more beach-set stories from Ms. Coble in the near future!

  • To me, the best sort of books are the ones that keep you turning pages and keep you on your toes with where the plot is going to go. I definitely did not see certain twists coming and I liked the unique story line of Elin’s new heart giving her visions and thoughts about the person who murdered the person who gave it to her. I could tell right away that there would be an interesting tension between Elin and Marc and I was curious to see if that would go anywhere as well. Colleen Coble has done a great job here of keeping this reader engaged in this characters that jump off of the pages and come to life in my head.

  • SEAGRASS PIER starts out chilling, and with little break stays that way most of the way through. I enjoy Ms. Coble’s books, she’s one of my top three favorite authors in the romantic suspense genre.

I did figure out who the killer was as soon as he walked into the pages of the books. But that didn’t ruin the story for me. I felt sorry for Elin, trying to balance a mother with dementia, a killer stalking her, and her daughter’s father showing up out of nowhere all at once. It’s a lot for any woman to deal with, even if she wasn’t suffering from nightly visions about the murder of the woman who donated her heart.

If you love romantic suspense, you will definately want to read SEAGRASS PIER. A great read.

  • This is my first read by Colleen Coble, so I wasn’t sure what to expect from her books. If you like a book that has a romantic suspense, you will definitely need to read SEAGRASS PIER. The book starts out a little chilling, capativating and definitely a page turner. This book had a lot going on and I felt really bad for Elin, but this book is an awesome summer read and I would read a book by Colleen Coble again!

  • This book is a page turner and may have you staying up late to find out what happens next. While this is book three of a series I feel like it stands pretty well on it’s own just in case you want to dig right in.

I have read many of Colleen’s books and really liked them but I feel like this is even better than her usual good book. Christian Romantic Suspense readers will enjoy this book.

  • I loved the whole premise of this book. Nightmares/flashbacks from an organ donor, an unsolved murder, a gorgeous, remote house on the beach, and an antique map that’s been hidden along with it’s secrets. Colleen Coble knows what her readers want! Of course, she delights us with a swoon worthy love story in the midst of the mystery, too. 🙂 My favorite character was Elin’s mother, Ruby. Due to a series of strokes, she’s experiencing early dementia and struggles for much of the story. Yet, through moments of clarity, she’s able to rise to the occasion and be a hero to her daughter. She deserves a round of applause! The beach, an old diary, a forgotten mystery, and a love story that seems destined to never happen kept me anxiously reading until the very end. Bravo Colleen Coble!

  • I’ve read several books by Colleen Coble, both contemporary and historical. I personally prefer her contemporary novels, and Seagrass Pier is excellent. At first I thought the plot was going to be like Double Blind: A Novel by Brandilyn Collins, but Seagrass Pier was quite different (although it came close to Brandilynn’s trademark “Seatbelt Suspense”, in that it was full of tension and hard to put down).

Seagrass Pier is the third book in the Hope Beach series, following Tidewater Inn and Rosemary Cottage. However, it can easily be read as a standalone title (I have read the previous two books—while all three books have the same location, they focus on different characters with only a few cameo appearances from the earlier books). Recommended for fans romantic suspense.

  • Happy Four says:

This book offers surprise, romance, mystery, thrills and suspense. The character of Elin drew me to her as I learned of her heart transplant, the passing of her husband and being a single mother raising her daughter Josie. The story unfolds and intertwines the characters in complex ways. I enjoyed having Elin’s mother as a character in the book and showing three generations residing together. Your pulse will race as there is danger for several of the characters and a few that appear to be innocent have evil motives. There is true love displayed on all levels including that between friends, romantic love and love a mother has for her children and the reverse. In a world filled with evil, murder and selfishness we are able to read of love and life.

  • I recently finished Seagrass Pier by Colleen Coble. I hadn’t read any of her books today and I was pleasantly surprised by the story.

The story focuses on a lady Elin Summerall who receives a ‘perfect match’ heart transplant from a young donor. However, shortly after receiving her new heart, Elin starts to have terrible nightmares and flashbacks she realizes that the person she received her heart from was murdered. I found this a little creepy. Imagine if you received an organ with a side of memories. In fact not just memories but also their likes and dislikes.

This story had me hooked from the beginning. In fact, I completely forgot that this was the third in the Hope Beach Series. I hadn’t read any of the other books in the series and honestly I didn’t notice. I knew a lot about the characters from the beginning. However I will have to go back and read them now.
I am not into scary books but this one is not really scary, but full of suspense, mixed with a love story.

I can honestly say it took me along time to guess who the true villain was. There were some extra plots in the book that confused me a little, maybe I wouldn’t have been confused with them if I had read the earlier books. However, for me they seemed a bit unnecessary. Saying that I really enjoyed this book. Full of suspense but no horror, blood, or guts.

    Definitely a great summer read!

  • Cara Putman says:

This is a beautiful story that will land on the keeper shelf of those who love romantic suspense or are fans of Colleen Coble’s books. If you haven’t tried one of her books yet, this is the one to read!

  • Once I picked up this book, I found I didn’t want to put it down; it drew me to turn the pages. When you read the blurb on the back of the book, you get the gist of what this book is about, but not the terror you are going to experience. You will never see what is about to happen, it was one thing after another, and kept changing until the end.

  • I am a big fan of the Hope Beach novels. I had to buy the first one after I read the second just because I knew it would be good. I’ve read a lot of books by Colleen and I really think her suspense/mystery books are the best. While there is tons of romance, it’s not the main focus of the story and the intrigue adds so much. That being said I do think the first two books are better but this book is great! Taking you back to Hope Beach we get wrapped up in another murder only this one is being remembered by someone who has the heart of the woman murdered. Talk about creepy. I don’t know if it’s possible for someone to have a transplant heart and then start acting like the previous owner of that heart. But in any case it makes for a great story line.

  • Colleen Coble never disappoints and Seagrass Pier delivers the mystery and intrigue that we’ve come to expect from her. While these characters didn’t have strong Godly pursuits as I’ve seen in other books by this author, they were moral and the book is a clean read as usual. I enjoyed the readings from the diary more than any other part of the book and would have liked to have known more about Georgina (maybe she could have her own book?)
I do enjoy how Colleen Coble works conniving people into her novels, she shows the good side of people and the bad side of humanity.

  • If you’re looking for a sweet and suspenseful read, then this did fit. I enjoyed reading it. It’s not very often that I’m still unsure how the plot elements would come together and who the villain would be in the end and it was nice to be surprised.

  • Preslaysa says:

Overall, the book was very compelling. I highly recommend!

  • Good mystery that head me guessing until the very end. I had never thought about having someone elses memories from getting a donated organ. It made for an interesting story element.

  • This genre of “Romantic Suspense” is getting under my skin. I do like me some suspense, but I guess that I’m also getting to be a closet romantic. This is the third book in the Hope Beach series. While they may have been written as stand alone, there are characters that you reconnect with from each book. The suspense is accelerator to floor excitement that never lets up once. While I’m not 100% sure about some of the “coincidences” that happened for plot lines, but they weren’t so overtly unrealistic that they detracted from the story. The romance is pretty evenly distributed throughout the book but it does wind up with a typical ending.

  • This book was Colleen Coble at her best. I have read the other two books in the Hope Beach Series, and they have all been good, but this was non-stop action from the very beginning. This book will grab a hold of you and not let go, it is easy to sit and read it all in one sitting. There were so many twists and turns in this book, I thought I was on a roller coaster. I also love the location of this series and the characters in this book were great, plus we got to meet some new characters. There is not just the intrigue and suspense going on with Elin and Marc, but also a hundred year old intrigue as well. Great job, as always, Colleen.

I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest review.

  • I was hooked from the very beginning and stayed that way until the of the story. The twists and turns of the story had me on the edge of my seat, turning pages until late into the night, trying to figure out who the murderer was and what the conclusion would be. This book is a keeper.

  • Mommy Has to Work says:

Oh how I love a good mystery! This book has mystery, romance, suspense – all great qualities to a great book!

  • Seagrass Pier (The Hope Beach Series) was a suspense novel I finished this past week. Elin receives a heart donation from a woman who was murdered. Through this plot there are several this going on but it is not overwhelming or hard to follow. She started to nightmares that are not recognizable. She knows they are not her own, but rather are from her heart donor. How can anyone in that situation have support or backing, let along someone believing in her claims. Threats on her life keep this book packed with suspense and second guessing of what will happen next. This is an easy read but remember it is not real life. Several of the plots are not realistic but it is a fictional book.

  • Colleen Coble…need I say more? I love being able to pick up a book from a favorite author knowing exactly what I’ll get, and not being disappointed! A great super fast read, Seagrass Pier will not disappoint. This is book 3 in a series, I would suggest reading books 1 and 2 first for the background stories.

  • This is a book that opens with a woman being strangled and just gains speed as you read. I totally fell in love with the characters even though I didn’t understand some of their decisions. The plot is what drew me from the beginning and kept me thoroughly enveloped in the pages til I was done. Excellent job!!

  • This book kept me engrossed the whole way through. Just when you thought you figured it out there was a new twist. I learned something about cell memory that I found facinating. Like Elin I learned that my real identity is in Christ Jesus. If you like to read books with suspense and romance you should like this one.

  • I really liked this book. It got my attention from page one and was a real thrilling storyline throughout. It was one of those books that I didn’t want to put down because I was enjoying it so much. This storyline was really different, but the author really was able to pull it off as believable. I love stories like where I grow to really love the characters and think about them long after I’ve put the book down.

  • Colleen Coble offers another compelling novel, rich in characters and mystery. Although this book is clean, as all of Colleen’s books, I felt it lacked the Godly depth in the character’s lives that I have discovered in other novels she has written.

The knowledge Elin has obtained from the heart she received was an interesting plot, and encouraged me to do additional research on this topic. Colleen is a detailed author who never disappoints to allow any loose ends at the conclusion of her writing.

The suspense held me at the edge of my seat until the conclusion of the final chapter. This would be an excellent summer read for your vacation. It comes highly recommended.

  • I was rather skeptical of this book as I haven’t really gotten into Colleen Coble’s other books, but this one was better than I expected. The mystery was intriguing enough and kept me guessing until the very end.The main characters were interesting enough.Overall this book wasn’t outstanding, but it was a good read and was overall enjoyable.

  • WORD Up! says:

Every time I pick up one of Colleen Coble’s books, it seems that she has become an even better writer. Her narrative and dialogue flow more smoothly with each novel. She builds meaty characters and has a gift for writing romantic suspense. I am a diehard armchair sleuth, and it was both gratifying and frustrating to figure out the whodunit at the point in the novel that I did. But “Seagrass Pier” is still an enjoyable way to get away for the weekend.

  • ‘Seagrass Pier’ by Colleen Coble is filled with drama and suspense. The ending was quite a shock. Coble does an excellent job of keeping readers guessing until the end. Don’t miss this third installment in the Hope Beach series. You don’t have to read the first two to thoroughly enjoy this one; however, you will certainly want to read them after this one.

  • Oh my word. Colleen Coble has done it again. I finished this book hours ago, and I’m still reeling from the surprise ending. I just don’t know what to do with myself. I mean, I have read a lot of books by Colleen Coble, but this one is probably her best.

  • WOW! Talk about eerie, this story was riveting, spine tingling and really made me think hard about the implications made by the recipient of the heart. Still there is romance, mystery, intrigue and much more in this story. I suggest you keep your lights on, your doors and windows locked while reading this book. You will not want to trust anyone. Sorry this is coming from my own fear and insecurities. Hee! Hee!

I highly recommend/dare you to read this book.

  • Seagrass Pier is the third book in the Hope Beach series is was SO GOOD! With a fast pace, and a serious amount of suspense, I GUARANTEE you will be up all night reading to find out what happens next. It really was full of twists, turns, action galore and amazing characters aplenty.

  • Seagrass Pier is a great book. The first two books really drew me into this series and Seagrass Pier did the same. From the start this book took a hold and kept hold up until the end. Colleen Coble writes a fast paced, action packed, keep you guessing until the end book. I enjoyed learning about new residents of Hope Beach and finding out about the others that I have met and loved from the other books.

  • From 7Eight says:

This is the first time I’ve heard of cell memory – where the recipient of an organ seems to recall and dream about things that happened to the donor. In this sorry Elin recalls things about the violent death of the donor of her heart. It’s interesting that the author has Elin’s mother suffering from dementia and losing her memory as Elin struggles as she recalls the memories of another person.

As Elin faces her widowhood, her mother’s illness, and her own confusion, she manages to also to be a single Mom to her little girl. The reader is filled with respect for Elin’s character.

Then there’s the character of Marc – who tries to work past his anger at Elin for denying him the knowledge that he is the father of her child. However, his anger doesn’t prevent him from taking on the responsibility for Elin’s safety and being involved in the life of their daughter.

The characterization is really well done. And there’s the underlying Christian theme of finding our identity in Love. As Elin struggles to come to terms with who she really is, her mother’s wisdom despite the dementia shines through:

It’s how we love, honey. And you love with your whole heart. God shines through you. Don’t ever let that change.”

I enjoyed the twists and turns of the story and the suspense sprinkled with romance and wisdom!

I’ll be looking out for more of Colleen Coble’s books.

  • All Grown Up says:

I had often wondered if the recipient took on characteristics, likes or dislikes from the organ donor, but I had never thought to delve into them “reliving” memories from the donor. Seagrass Pier does just that. It not only blew my mind but made it go in all sorts of directions with what if’s.

Colleen Coble is one of my all time favorite Christian Fiction authors, and I have to say Seagrass Pier is one of my new favorites by her!

  • The third book in the “Hope Beach” series is filled with twists and turns that will keep readers engaged from start to finish. I started this book one night and finished it before the next morning. I just could not put it down.

I found the underlying premise of the novel to be wonderfully intriguing, where Elin is having nightmares that are not her own, but rather from her heart donor. One woman gets a transplant, the other is murdered — with lots of thrills and suspense in between it all.

Colleen has always been one of my favorite authors. I loved how she keeps us guessing about who the villains are, and the ending does bring surprises. Marc also proves to be a stand-up guy who shows what it means to be a steadfast father and friend.
