Smitten Book Club

Smitten Book Club

The century-old Gentlewoman’s Guide to Love and Courtship is no ordinary book club choice. But for the little book club in Smitten, Vermont, it might be their best pick yet!

The thick, leathery tome Heather pulled out of the dusty cardboard box was definitely coming home with her. Not only was The Gentlewoman’s Guide to Love and Courtship an appealing curiosity by virtue of its title; it was also written by Smitten, Vermont native Pearl Chambers, a local gentlewoman from three generations back.

Little did Heather know the repercussions this little curiosity would have on her and her friends’ romantic exploits.

When Heather and her fellow book club members begin passing the book around, their respective interpretations are unleashed on their respective love lives . . . for better or for worse. Is it a mystery? An idealist fantasy? An intimation of Jane Austen? As romantic love finds its way to each woman, the Guide proves itself both surprisingly prescient and hilariously irrelevant.

What’s more, a handwritten inscription indicates that the arcane book might hold the only extant clues leading to buried gold—exactly what one of the members needs to keep her house. How could they not go treasure hunting?

In this remarkable collaborative novel, besties Colleen Coble, Kristin Billerbeck, Denise Hunter, and Diann Hunt tackle the tale of the Gentlewoman’s Guide by writing for one book club member apiece. Smitten Book Club is a hopeful, hilarious story of friendship and healing, written by friends for friends.

  • I really enjoyed this latest trip back to Smitten. After reading the other books in this series, I’ve fallen in love with the little town and love to get introduced to new residents with each new book. Though the book is written by four different authors, each with their own writing style, the stories blend together seamlessly. If you weren’t told that there were multiple authors, you’d never know. Each character is relatable in their own way and their stories are fun and interesting to read. Every time I read a Smitten novel I find myself wish that it was as real place and that I could take a vacation there. If you’re looking for a quick, light-hearted read, pick up Smitten Book Club – you won’t be disappointed.

Oh, what a good book! It so happened, as a teacher, I was out of school for snow and was able to read this in just a few sittings! I’ve read books by each author and having them come together for four short stories was fun to read! I loved each story and the characters in each. Each had humor and some romance and I definitely want to read both Smitten and Secretly Smitten! I love books set in small towns and Smitten has won me over! I laughed at the advice in The Gentlewoman’s Guide to Love and Courtship but also could see some truth in Pearl’s words. I’m sure that would be an interesting read!

  • I liked the book club theme in this book, which is the reason I decided to read and review it… I liked that the women did not seem in a hurry to finish the book but wanted to take in its lessons as much as possible…Not only did the book they were reading help people in their relationships with their suitors, or potential suitors, it helped them come closer into relationship with each other by discussing something that was important to them…It was an inspiration to me to read about a group of women who came together to discuss the book “The Gentlewoman’s Guide to Love and Courtship” and that they helped each other in the process. It made me wonder what the next potential book the women might be discussing will be.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed Smitten and Secretly Smitten, so I was quite excited when Smitten Book Club released. While my favorite tropes like reunion romances and opposites attracting made appearances, there were also some unique plot developments that made the book even more enjoyable. The quotes by Pearl Chambers were hysterical and the subtle quest for the hidden treasure kept me reading because I just had to know where it was so cleverly stashed.

If you’re looking for an inspirational, satisfying story set in a small town with unique characters and heartwarming romance, then Smitten Book Club is one you don’t want to miss.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure. I loved watching the relationships grow between the friends and see how they stood by each other through life struggles. I think it’s great to have all 4 stories in the same book. We are able to move right in to the next story without pause. Each story while different, follows the same overall story of the treasure they hope to find. I loved the little “extras” included in the back of the book. What fun! I highly encourage you to give this book a read.

  • If you like short stories, then this series is great – like watching a sweet sitcom. All the characters are interwoven, but each person tells her own story. I really see a market for these books in this fast-paced time we live – these are the perfect length stories for workouts, waiting rooms, and sports sidelines!

  • This book will not only touch your heart, but it will encourage you to be a better friend and to look past your own hardships and reach out to someone else.

  • Having different authors for the four main characters really gives the book depth of perspective and gives each character her own voice, which is fun. Each little romance had a sweet little meet cute, and while it is indeed unlikely that four friends would find love consecutively, I was able to suspend my disbelief and enjoy this book in just a few days’ time. – See more at:

  • I fell in love with the four best friends from Smitten’s book club! Each member had their own story which allowed each character to be fully developed. I loved how each story was intertwined and all had the Gentlewomans Guide as a tying factor. A great read that you will want to share with your girlfriends!

  • Run don’t walk and pick up your copy! This by far was the best book in the Smitten series. I could not put it down until the very last page. It is out of this world great!

  • This novel is a pleasant collection of four short and quick romances. There are no complex plots here. Just light romance with fast resolution. This is a good choice for those who like short stories interrelated to a final resolution.

  • Written from a Christian perspective, Smitten Book Club focuses a lot on the characters development, rather than the mystery of the treasure.

  • This is such a great book! I love when authors collaborate to create one great story! I read this book almost in one day, I was so hooked on it! What a great idea behind the story. A nice new twist on traditional “book club” stories! Loved it!

  • The anthology as a whole is enjoyable. It does have a few continuity issues, and I would say it’s the weakest of the three Smitten novels. It’s a fun, easy, quick read, but it lacks the depth of the other novels. That said, it is full of romance and fun. I especially enjoyed Hunt’s “A New Chapter” and Hunter’s “Happily Ever After.”

  • Love from the past comes back, fulfilling a lifelong dream, coming to realize you ARE worth it. Oh and the friendships in this book are awesome. I loved the pairing of the women and men, but the friendships were so strong and realistic that it was great! The four authors really were in sync with the whole set. If you haven’t read book by one of these authors, this is a great way to be introduced. The faith element is woven throughout and not ‘in your face’ but absolutely there!
I rate this a 5/5. It is great and if you have read the others in the Smitten series, go grab it now! For just a fun, romantic read, it is good too!!

  • “Smitten Book Club” was written by four best friends about four best friends. All four novellas were written so well that together they read as one voice, as if they had been written by one author. These talented authors worked together to weave a wonderful story of sisterhood, love, hope and forever afters. I thoroughly loved this book and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a fun, feel-good, reading experience.

  • While I love romance novels, I’m not usually a fan of small books tucked all into one. I want to go deeper with each character and really get into the story, and usually there’s just not the time. The Smitten books are the perfect mix of both worlds, though: short, quick stories that are romantic and funny but blended together with the other stories in the book, allowing you to become close to each character and really get inside the drama.

I think I want to join the Smitten Book Club.

  • Four novellas written by four great authors filled with romance and mystery. Four stories that interweave between each story that make you want to read more.

  • A visit to Smitten, especially on a cold winter afternoon, is a retreat in and of itself.
The fact that you meet the really cool ladies of the book club and you experience their happy endings makes it even better.
The ladies of Smitten book club share more than just books. They share secrets, burdens, laughter, hope, and a tight friendship that weathers the storms.
They really are sisters at heart. As as I read, I had the feeling that the authors were sisters at heart too.
Smitten is one of those ideal small towns…on one hand, everyone knows your business before you do. On the other, people pull together and help each other readily. If your one of their own, they will stand behind you and work beside you. Charming setting, unique characters, and honey-sweet endings…it’s all here.

  • I loved each and every story, there wasn’t one that I didn’t like. Each of the stories had great heroes and heroines, with great plotting and pacing, and terrific dialogue. A winner the whole way round. With strong themes of faith and friendship, in the delightful town of Smitten. You won’t want to miss a single story, in this wonderful collection.

  • Written by four different authors, Smitten Book Club is a true example of what can be accomplished when friendship and talent collide in real life. Each author tells a separate story, each of which is linked together through the leading characters membership in a book club. The novella portrays the joys and sorrows of deep felt friendship and is filled with laughter, tears, and above all love. Upbeat and hopeful this novel is a fantastic read for those looking for inspiration and romance.

  • This book is the final result of the collaboration of four fine romance authors. I love this series, its a series full of friendship and love. It also shows us what really good friendship can do when people are open to it.

  • I liked all of the stories equally, so it was hard to pick a favorite. I think readers will fall in love with all of the couples. If you are looking for a great book to curl up with on a rainy day, make sure to visit the town of Smitten!

  • Four novella’s in one book by four wonderful authors. This was such a delightful read, four women in the Smitten book club searching for romance with a light mystery in the middle. Fun, fast paced, likeable characters that I hope to meet again.

  • I’m thankful for a review copy of a book that introduced me to the town of Smitten and it’s very special book club. Colleen Coble, Kristen Billerbeck, Diann Hunt and Denise Hunter, team up to write the third book in the Smitten series. If you haven’t read the other books before this one fear not, you won’t feel lost. There are four parts to this novel that are written by each of the author focusing on a different lady from the book club, who all live in the town of Smitten.

Love by the Book by Colleen Coble, Shelved Under Romance by Kristin Billerbeck, A New Chapter by Diann Hunt, and Happily Ever After by Denise Hunter. Each one of these segments give the reader peeks at a few of the book club meetings where they discuss the book, the treasure hunt and let’s not leave out match making!

  • I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the previous books in the Smitten series, and Smitten Book Club was no exception! All four authors did a great job including the main characters from the other novellas, and it was fun to continue reading about their stories throughout the other stories. The idea of a book possibly giving clues to a hidden treasure was fun, and I loved the hint of mystery woven throughout the book. With four talented authors contributing to this book, I don’t see how anyone could be disappointed! Highly recommended!

  • Moments says:

Each of the four novellas are enjoyable to read and a sweet love story that is just wonderful to snuggle in and read on these cold, wintery days. I love the quotes that are shared at the beginning of each chapter as these really adds so much and really makes the reader get into the book club choice as well! Now I want to go out and find my own “treasure” book to read in a book club!

  • What a fun read! I have read the previous two books and this one I think could be the best. I like the idea of book clubs and it made this story fun. Not only do the girls meet but they also cook food to go along with their books! So this book, like the two previous is set up as four “stories” yet all of them going together. There is also an ongoing “mystery” that flows throughout the book. My favorite stories were about Abby by Kristin Billerbeck and Molly by Denise Hunter, though all of them are good. Each author has their own wit and personality and I like how that comes across in this book. I also really like the cover on this book, it’s a cozy feeling.
The setting is still the lovely Smitten, Vermont which if it was real, I would love to visit.

  • Although I have never read the first 2 books in this series (“Smitten” and “Secretly Smitten), I greatly enjoyed reading “Smitten Book Club”! I think what I found most fun of all was that this book was written by four separate authors, separated into four separate “books” but each story comes together to make one big book!

  • The four Novella’s in this book; Love by the Book.. by Colleen Coble, Shelved Under Romance.. by Kristin Billerbeck, A New Chapter.. by Diann Hunt, Happily Ever After.. by Denise Hunter, are just a really fantastic read! I thoroughly enjoyed following the romantic lives of each of these four ladies. I loved each character, and I really don’t have a favorite!

  • This is a novel about book club members written by 4 different authors. There are many people who already belong to book clubs and there are others who wish they did. This group of stories have romance and a little suspense.

  • I’m not sure what it is, but each time I have read one of the books from the Smitten series I have been completely enthralled. Smitten Book Club is no exception! It is the third novella in the series, but you do not have to have read the previous books to enjoy this one.

This collection of four stories, each about a member of the book club in Smitten, Vermont, grabs your attention from the beginning and never lets go. Each story builds on the previous one and you can hardly wait to find out what happens with the book club members. Woven throughout the novella is a wonderful example of friendship filled with sorrow, tears, joy and amazing love. Smitten is like any other small town USA, everyone knows what’s going on in your life. As you read about each woman you grow to love that little town and are inspired by their faith and hope. This is an excellent read!

  • It seemed like this Smitten collection was written just for me. Many of my interests were found in the stories, such as organic gardening and a healthy love for all things Jane Austen. It was cold and snowing outside as I read, so I just snuggled down and enjoyed the sweet town of Smitten.

  • I haven’t read the other Smitten books but I just might be trying to find them at my libraries because I so enjoyed the Smitten Book Club – a compilation of 4 books in one written by 4 gifted authors. The titles of the books within the book are Love by the Book by Colleen Coble, Shelved Under Romance by Kristin Billerbeck, A New Chapter by Diann Hunt, and Happily Ever After by Denise Hunter – and each has the author’s distinct writing style and flair and all are equally wonderful. I was thinking of reviewing each of the ‘books’ individually but I think since all four were so good that I’m just going to go with writing the review as one book since they all tie together and while they are written by a different author they are really just one book.

  • Smitten Book Club may be my favorite of the three Smitten books! Perhaps it’s because I love my book club ladies or maybe I’m just a sucker for a sweet story but regardless this is beautifully written story and one that I believe many women would love to read and discuss with their friends.

  • A great read!…I LOVE these characters and enjoyed the Gentlewoman’s Guide to Love and Courtship with it’s quirky little advice…All of these characters and stories are bonded with the same kind of story base. A relationship with a major rift that needs to be fixed and healed. How the authors take this base and grow a unique story from it is really cool! I highly recommend this book and these authors with their amazing range of characters and plots!…

  • An old leather-covered book is donated to the Smitten library book sale. Enclosed inside is a letter alluding to a treasure within. The title? “The Gentlewoman’s Guide to Love and Courtship.”

The four stories join the daily lives of Heather, Abby, Lia, and Molly and how they applied the Gentlewoman’s Guide. One quote I like from chapter headings ~*Once smitten, a suitor will understand what the ardent girl has always known: love is the most precious of all treasures.*~ My very favorite was the story of a little girl who used sign language and then spoke the most important words of all. All four stories wove into each other perfectly. These authors are so close, each story overlaps the other as if written by one! I look forward to reading the other two books, Smitten and Secretly Smitten.

  • This book was well written, I loved learning about each of the four characters and going on their love journeys, PLUS getting a little mystery and history through the Gentlewoman’s Guide to Love and Courtship book that they all have in common!

It was fun to read a book based around a group of friends in a book club – it made me really want to join one! 🙂

  • Four great friends, four short, sweet romances, and one great big mystery. Smitten Book Club is a lovely way to end this series.

I love that these books have been written as a collaboration between four authors who are also best friends. Their friendship brings added depth to the friendships of the characters in these books. The love between these women really shines through. I think each author did a great job creating three dimensional, authentic characters. People you actually come to care about even though you only have a short time to get to know them.

  • Smitten Book Club was a fun book to read. I really enjoyed this book I just wish each of the stories were longer and maybe their own books. I hated how the endings always seemed rushed.

  • Cute and fun, those are the two words that come to mind. Well this book was a given right from the cover, the authors, and right on through!
The cover is gorgeous! One of my faves this year so far.
I am a huge fan of three of these authors, Diann Hunt I had never read before so this was a great way to be introduced to her.
The flow of these stories is really great, the way one leads into the other. I really liked them all. But I think my favorite was the last one by Denise Hunter (I just love her anyway!) its more snarky and chick-lit-ish than the other three.
The characters were perfect with excellent development. I really liked all four of these friends. They all had unique stories in their lives. And they all met the man of their dreams in a different way. Very creative book! This was the only one in the series I read but it really make me wish I had read the others.

  • Smitten Book Club is a hopeful, hilarious story of friendship and healing, written by friends for friends.

  • I enjoyed this book very much. It is written in a different format, 4 different authors, 4 books all written in one book. Each author writes one book about one character, but all characters in the book are wrapped into all 4 books. This was the first time I have read a book in this type of format and loved it. The authors did a great job of making the story flow. The book takes place in Smitten, VT and is set around the library book sale and finding a book that is 3 generations old and has a mystery about it. Each character has their own story and the mystery book is tied into their story…….

  • I enjoyed all four novellas. They were cute, well written, and sweet. If you liked the first two books in the Smitten series, then you will want to read THE SMITTEN BOOK CLUB.

  • This book is an interesting read in that four different authors each take a Smitten Book Club member and give them all a great new love life while they are reading The Gentlewoman’s Guide to Love and Courtship and searching for long lost treasure. There is a lot of healing, great words of wisdom, and some awesome friendship in this great story. While Pearls wisdom might seem to be outdated, I think some of it still applies today. I have not read either of the other Smitten Books; Smitten and Secretly Smitten, you can bet they are now on my must read list.

  • The best thing about The Smitten Book Club is getting a taste of four different romance writers in one novel. The stories flow so seamlessly you don’t realize your making the move from one characters story into another one. The treasure hunt continues as each of the ladies finds more of the clues as they each take turns with the old book of dating and love advice from Pearl Chambers that showcases each new chapter within the short stories. You’ll find yourself wondering just how true this really are to current day romance tips and along the way you’ll find yourself charmed by the residents of Smitten who show us all what the real meaning of unconditional love really means. I personally give this one a 5 out of 5 stars.

  • This book was such fun to read and kept me happily occupied as I inched through car-rider pick-up lines at my children’s schools. The four individual stories are pieced like a quilt, sewn together seamlessly with an overall plot of friends encouraging one another to heal and find joy in life (with a dash of romance!)

It was interesting to see an organic farm take shape in Colleen Coble’s section, and I enjoyed reading how Kristin Billerbeck’s character, Abby, was crazy about Jane Austen. Me too! I missed the first two books in the Smitten series, and now I really must catch up!

The quotes from Pearl Chambers’ Gentlewoman’s Guide to Love and Courtship were hilarious … and yet they were filled with wisdom. I picked up a few tips that I can pass on to my daughters! 🙂

  • I have enjoyed the previous Smitten, Vermont, novels, and I was looking forward to reading this next installment just in time for Valentine’s Day! Overall, Smitten Book Club is a collection of four sweet romances that all tie together in friendship and a fun mystery.

  • The authors have done a wonderful job of blending the lives of these four women in the town of Smitten. They have obviously worked well together to pull these stories into one amazing novel. Each story is well told with charming detail of both the community and their characters. I feel as if I’ve been to Smitten through the lives of these young women whose lives have intertwined since childhood, and have seen each other through tough times and happy days. It’s a lovely compilation of circumstances and people overcoming somewhat overwhelming obstacles, and helping one another through difficult times to bring one another hope. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the stories told with imagination and romance.

  • This book delivered what it promised: a lighthearted, funny, clean romance. (Actually, Smitten Book Club delivers four romances for the price of one.)

Although written by four different authors, the book felt like one story by one author. The characters were consistent throughout, and the hidden gold mystery thread ran through the whole book, firmly tying the different stories together.

I found this to be an enjoyable, easy read. It’s fun, not life-changing.

  • You don’t really think an ages old book on romance and courtship could bring anything meaningful to present day dating, do you? Four good friends don’t think so either, but they read it in hopes that it will give them clues to a lost treasure, even if it just turns out that the old story isn’t true.

I applaud these four ladies for weaving together these characters into a story that I didn’t want to end.

  • I love how each story is unique, with each of the women woven into each others stories. While they have all have their own unique story like a tapestry, they are woven together. I also loved the friendship among the ladies. Their four stories will touch your heart and make you want to be a better friend. It just reminds you to realign your priorities in your friendships too. Just a wonderful book! I love the four different styles of the writing by each authors. I have read Smitten and Secretly Smitten, so I couldn’t wait for this release. I think readers will truly enjoy this unique adventure and will leave with a new meaning of friendship.

  • What a fun book! This book contains the talent of four authors. There are four different stories written about the ladies in the Smitten Book Club. They find an old book at a rummage sale that had been written by a lady from three generations back.

The book contains old-fashioned advice about love and romance. Although the advice was out dated the group was drawn to the book. They begin to pass it around and they never dreamed it would have such an impact on their lives. Maybe the advice was not so ridiculous after all for it really did seem to work.

I really enjoyed reading the little snippets of the Gentlewoman’s Guide To Love And Courtship.

  • I loved all the elements of Smitten Book Club. Dear friends that gather together weekly for book club meetings, a mystery involving hidden treasure, the charming location of Smitten, Vermont, kind neighbors that truly care about each other, sparkles of humor and of course, the sizzling romance! The Smitten series of books are cozy, charming and heartwarming. They’re the kind of stories that make you believe in true love and “happily ever after”.

  • Glancing at the cover of the book I knew there was no way I could go wrong! Are you kidding me? Colleen Coble, Kristin Billerbeck, Diann Hunt and Denise Hunter? All together? In one book? Litfuse Publicity had me at “hello”. Literally.

This is a very sweet book that’s not only really easy to read, but also pulls you in quickly and efficiently. I found myself anticipating grabbing the book each night before I went to bed to try to read a few more pages, hoping the characters would solve the great mystery that clearly lied within and that they would find (or see) the love that stood clearly in front of them.

  • What a wonderful installment in the Smitten series!
Once again I’ve fallen in love with these authors, the characters, the stories and Smitten.
The four stories contained within this book are rich in adventure, fun, friendship, romance and true love.
I have enjoyed this series so much, as I read, I felt a part of the community of Smitten- it’s a wonderful place to escape to.
This series has truly made its mark on my heart.
I’m not sure if the authors will write more books in the series, but if they do…I’ll be first in line for a copy!

  • Veronica's 'Views says:

The romance was cute in all the stories. This is more of a light-hearted book, but it still dealt with Christian themes of forgiveness and not judging others. The quotes from the Gentlewoman’s Guide were interesting and amusing and I liked the way it linked the stories together.

  • Once again we fall in love with the town of Smitten and its people and wish there really were such a place to visit. This time the focus is on Heather, Abby, Lia and Molly, four friends who not only are trying to read a book for their book club but, because of this book, are also going on a hunt for lost gold. Technically, “Smitten Book Club” is one story that connects through the lives of the four women. So that means we get four tales of romance as we watch them change and grow. All four authors know how to write characters that come alive off the page. Great storytelling, mystery and romance, what more could you ask for? I know: one more sequel! I recommend this book highly!

  • I have read collaborative works before, and often times they just don’t gel like I would like. This is the 3rd collaborative work for these women, and it works! They are dear friends, not just authors trying to understand one another and I think that makes all of the difference. Each one has their own unique struggles and joys, yet they are intertwined with each other. I really enjoyed reading each members story, and because it was written by a different author, it gave each person a distinct voice.
I love that when God is the center of the work (book) that it just easily flows together.

  • In this book each story is a love story. New love, returning love, unexpected love or a combination is found by each of the women in turn. In each case, when the going gets tough the women turn to prayer and to God to guide them through and show them the way. I don’t think that is something a lot of us think about in our love relationships, but if more people took the time to pray for guidance and to trust that there is a is a plan in place, things might go smoother for a lot of people. Trust, faith and prayer go a lot further than many of us realize.

  • This is such a fun and enjoyable book! I enjoyed it from the first page to the last.
I really think what makes this book special is that each of the characters is written by a different author and so each one has a distinct personality that really shines through

  • A New Leaf says:

It was hard to read, knowing that Dianne is gone. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I felt the plot was well developed and thought out. The book and its characters were engaging to read.

  • WORD Up! says:

“Smitten Book Club” is a fun and heartwarming anthology of novellas from four of Christian fiction’s best authors. Colleen Coble, Kristen Billerbeck, Diann Hunt and Denise Hunter contribute four stories to this collection in the series of novels about Smitten, Vermont. The common theme that runs through all four stories is that the gals are passing around a book on romance that apparently contains clues to a real-life treasure hidden in Smitten! This is a thoroughly satisfying weekend read.

  • I really liked this book for a couple different reasons. I enjoyed that each member of the book club was written by a different author. Not only did this make the writing style unique it also made the characters unique and more believable. The each had their own voice and they each dealt with love and other issues their own way. Even though that is how most characters are in books, these characters were different without trying to be. They were great characters and I have been to many book sales at libraries and have seen “old” books. However I have never seen a book with a “treasure” map. I loved this quaint little town and I live in Connecticut and have been to Vermont. This book made me want to go back. There are rarely towns that are willing to help each other like the residents of Smitten. Each author brought a great addition to this anthology and I can not wait for them to work together again.

  • I absolutely adored the premise behind the Smitten Book Club. An old book find full of sage advice from a local woman three generations ago finds its way through Smitten. There is the mystery of buried gold and whether Chambers hid clues to the treasure within the pages of her Gentlewoman’s Guide. There’s the fun of watching romance unfold throughout Smitten thanks to the book.

I thought each story was seamless and as cozy as a Vermont drive. The romances were natural, as were the book club members and their friendships and struggles. The mystery was a fun touch, too.

  • The overall story is one of community helping and pulling together to help one of their own – Molly. But it also tells how community can be there to help and support each and every member of the community. And since this is about life and how it plays out day-by-day, it also involves romance. Each lady finds love and their stories are sweetly told. I think you’ll find that these are folks you’d like to have as neighbors of your own.

  • Smitten Book Club is a wonderful book. It’s really four shorter books in one which makes for the best because you get to follow one storyline through four people! I love knowing more about my characters. This is very well written. I’ve been a fan of a few of the authors for a while, but the others I hadn’t heard of so now I’m going to have to check them out and see more about them. I really enjoyed this book. I wanted to find the gold too! I mean who doesn’t want gold. I really enjoyed going to the farm and climbing with the gang. Oh and I think I’d be just as bad at water rafting and I can’t swim. Not sure I could do the whole flying through the sky thing either. Pick up the book. Read it and experience all the things we’re scared to do in life.

  • The theme of helping their friend and a town coming and supporting a single mom really was great though and I did find this a quick and enjoyable read. I would recommend it.

  • Once again the ladies of Smitten are on the look-out for love for their friends, and each story revolves around a particular woman and the man who would become “the one” for her. These stories are full of fun and romance, and throughout the book, there is a central mystery that the ladies are trying to solve as well. There is also a sweet element of inspirational faith that is threaded throughout the book.

  • Four women, member of a book club are the protagonists in this novel. Each author has written the story of one of the women, Heather, Abby, Lia and Molly. Together they have many adventures, help each other out and each find the love of their life. If that sounds formulaic, it is. The thing is the book is still very enjoyable, in spite of being predictable. I love Smitten, Vermont and it is fun to read about such a perfect small town. Somewhat like Garrison Keillor’s Minnesota community of Lake Woebegone, the people in Smitten are all kind, help each other out, and have wonderful traditions. Unlike Minnesota they live with gorgeous mountain views. The book is relaxing and fun and frankly, realism is highly overrated.
