The Heart’s Pursuit

The Heart’s Pursuit

The Heart’s Pursuit

A jilted bride desperate to save her family from ruin.

A bounty hunter seeking vengeance for a ravaged past.

An arduous trek toward justice—or redemption.

Silver Mattlock and Jared Newman know traveling together is a bad idea. Bad for Silver’s already tarnished reputation in her small Colorado town. Bad for bounty hunter Jared’s secret, single-minded mission for revenge. But Silver is determined to track down the rogue who left her at the altar and stole the last remnant of her father’s fortune. And Jared’s in a hurry to hunt down the murderer who destroyed his family—even if Silver is too distractingly beautiful for comfort.

The pair takes off over mountain and desert, past bleak homesteads and raw mining towns, hot on the trail of the two villains who took what wasn’t theirs to take. Soon supplies dwindle, secrets emerge, and suspicion leave Silver and Jared at odds when they need each other most. To confront an enemy deadlier than desert rattlesnakes and rocky cliffs, Silver and Jared must learn to forgive and trust and face the question they haven’t dared voice: What happens next?

  • The descriptions of life on the trail were graphic. I could feel the disappointment after a difficult day of riding – being exhausted and having to eat hardtack and beans for dinner. I could feel the roughness of the ground under a blanket and being so exhausted that sleep came anyway. The Heart’s Pursuit is a very good book and I recommend it.

  • Robin Lee Hatcher created a great tale of the importance of allowing God to dole out justice. True redemption can only be found in Him. The Heart’s Pursuit is a great read.

  • This was the kind of book I love!!! I read it in a little over 4 hours and was so disappointed when I realized that the story was over! Robin Hatcher is a master wordsmith and this was an awesome storyline. As always her characters were well developed and lifelike. I felt as if I was part of the action. Hatcher does an impeccable job of teaching the difference between justice and revenge in this novel. If you love westerns, historical romances, and just great reading then this is the book for you.

  • Here is another out of the box and out of my comfort zone book. This is my very first Christian Western Romance that I have read. It is a great read and very hard to put down! You are drawn immediately into the characters of Silver Matlock and Jared Newman. How do you trust a stranger let alone a bounty hunter? These answers are waiting to be found in within the pages of this book. I loved the love story between Jared and Silver blossom and how they let God work in their lives. It is mystery, love story and redemption all wrapped in one.

  • Robin Lee Hatcher has been one of my favorite Christian Western authors and every time I see her name on a request, I immediately agree to review them even before I know what they are going to be about. They are simply that good! I love her attention to detail from the wording she uses on her character’s dialogue to the detailed descriptions of the towns her characters ride in to. I love strong female characters that aren’t afraid to take on whatever responsibilities life tosses their way and such is the case of Silver Matlock. While she is afraid of the unknown, she is willing to take chances most women wouldn’t like riding out late at night to convince a bounty hunter, she’s going whether he agrees to it or not. This one easily rates a 5 out of 5 western stars in my book.

  • The story has a taste of the old TV westerns to it — the bounty hunter chasing down the bad guys, passing through towns, spending lots of days in the saddle and nights on the hard ground under the stars. Of course, the pretty girl traveling with the bounty hunter might not have been standard fare to those shows but definitely made this story more interesting.

Silver and Jared were both characters I enjoyed meeting. Watching them work through the baggage they carried from past hurts and trying to navigate their way together through difficult circumstances made for a very good story. Some of the twists of the story were pretty predictable, but others caught me off guard.

  • I enjoyed traveling across Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, and Nevada with the characters as I have been to several of the places mentioned. I can relate to Jared and his desire for revenge as I have experienced lots of pain in my day and have had thoughts of revenge myself. But I have seen the effects of anger and bitterness in people and have learned that the need for revenge can destroy you if you are not careful. Fortunately, I saw this in a very close family member and I decided that only God can judge and it is my job to forgive so I don’t let the bitterness affect me. This is the third book I have recently read from Robin and I can honestly say that she is now one of my favorite authors.

  • I love this author, and I love this book. Robin Lee Hatcher is a very consistent writer. I highly recommend this book!
