Seven Christmases have passed since Sonia Pettit last heard from her daughter Jody. Since Jody’s departure, Sonia’s world has been turned upside down. Her husband has died of a broken heart, and her son, bitter over his sister’s destructive actions, has become rebellious.

Her greatest desire is to have her family together at Christmas, but after what Jody has put them all through, can Sonia truly forgive her daughter?

Jody Pettit O’Dair ran away to experience a life of adventure and excitement, but since her
departure, her world has been turned upside down. She’s been abandoned by the man she met and married, lost her job, and is unable to care for her two children. With nowhere else to turn, this prodigal daughter begins the long journey home and prays she will be welcomed after walking away so long ago.

Will Jody find forgiveness in the arms of her family as easily as she received it from God?

  • OUCH OR AMEN?

This book really resonated with me. My sister left home when she was a teen and I had to deal with the fall out and effect on my family that came as a result of it. While I understand now why she did what she did, it took me a long to figure it out and to forgive her.

  • A CHRISTMAS HOMECOMING BY MARYANN DIORIO

This was a very short book – only 53 pages – but what it lacks in pages it more than makes up for in the story. The reader meets Jody after she’s lost her job and while not much information is given as to why she left home, it’s easy to infer what did happen – so after a job loss and a husband that abandons her and their children she faces the reality that she must go home…..after seven long years.

  • MINI REVIEW AND BLOG TOUR: A CHRISTMAS HOMECOMING

I used to dislike parallel story lines, but this one is nicely executed. Seeing the way the two ladies are currently living their lives and how they make it back to one another made the ending even more touching.

Definitely a lovely holiday read! I plan on keeping this copy for quite a few years to come.

  • A SHORT STORY OF FORGIVENESS

This short ebook is a quick Christmas read with a great message of forgiveness and how hard finding that forgiveness can be. It provides a strong reminder of how much can be lost in families when hurts and regrets get in the way of relationships and what a change can come with love and reconciliation at this special time of year.

  • CHRISTMAS READ

The only thing that disappointed me about this story was that it was too short. The idea behind it was very nice, and there are no issues with this–it is completely clean. It is not a romance, but it is a feel-good Christmas story. It is perfect for those who love happy endings, although I must admit it is not believable. But I don’t think that is the attention.

  • A CHRISTMAS HOMECOMING

I truly believe that books don’t have to be too long to get their message across to the reader. Especially at this time of the year where we often have very little time to do anything but last minute shopping, work so we can pay the bills, and spend the evenings with family. That’s why I love it when you find an exceptional book you can squeeze in and still get something magical out of it. The Christmas season is more that just gift giving and the hustle and bustle of life, it’s about coming to realize what’s really important. It the season of hope and believing that the world in general will be a much better place if only for this time. This one rates a 4 out of 5 stars and is perfect for sitting by the fire with a great book!

  • God will always forgive a repentant sinner, but people are not always quite as willing to do the same. Hurt often gives way to bitterness, resentment, anger and hostility and it can take time and the healing work of the Holy Spirit to break down those walls in order for reconciliation to occur. I loved the way the author brought about reconciliation between Jody and her brother – I won’t say more because that would be a spoiler!

  • WILL GRAB YOUR HEART

This is truly the story of the prodigal son and, yes, we’ve seen that story done in so many ways over the years, but this story truly grabbed my heart and it was done in such a beautiful way. I absolutely loved the ending. It was beautiful how she created the healing of the family through the father who had passed away years earlier. This is a quick read yet you will be thinking of those characters for weeks afterward. Just a beautiful story – plain and simple – and I highly recommend reading this book!

  • A SHORT STORY TO BE SURE BUT WITH A LOT OF PUNCH!

‘A Christmas Homecoming’ is a short story to be sure but with a lot of punch!
As I read it I wondered at the plot and found myself in many ways reacting to one part or another. A Christmas Homecoming has many messages and guaranteed to make readers reflect how each and everyone of us would react.

  • BOOK REVIEW: A CHRISTMAS HOMECOMING AND A GIVEAWAY

MaryAnn Diorio crafts a wonderful story of forgiveness and love. The main point being that it’s never too late to seek forgiveness, in fact the main character in the story has waited 7 years to do so. If the author can create such a beautiful story in just 65 pages, I’m interested in checking out some of her full length novels to see what amazing stories she tells.

A Christmas Homecoming delves into the heavy topics of family and forgiveness. It really made me think about my life and how harboring anger and negative feelings is like a cancer to everyone involved. The holidays are not always a happy time but each of us has the ability to extend grace, if we are willing. The characters in the story are very real and easy to identify with.
