{More about Beauty for Ashes}

She’s a beautiful young widow. He’s a Southern gentleman with a thirst for adventure. Both need a place to call home.

After losing her husband in the Civil War, Carrie Daly is scared she will never have the family she longs for. Eligible bachelors are scarce in Hickory Ridge, Tennessee, but Carrie has found love. Not the weak-in-the-knees kind, but something practical. Still, she isn’t quite ready to set a wedding date with Nate Chastain.

Griff Rutledge is a former member of Charleston society, but has been estranged from his family for years. He’s determined to remain unattached, never settling in one place for too long. But when asked to train a Thoroughbred for an upcoming race in Hickory Ridge, he decides to stay awhile.

Despite objections from the townsfolk, and her fear that true happiness has eluded her, Carrie is drawn to Griff’s kindness and charm. It will take a leap of faith for them to open their hearts and claim God’s promise to give beauty for ashes.

Jess at From Me to You … Video, Photography, & Book Reviews This is a charming inspirational romance novel!!

Kianna’s Korner
Dorothy is a phenomenal author in that she immediately portrays a scenario that intrigued me. The happenings and where abouts of a young widow and a mysterious southerner sparked curiosity. She also painted a very vivid image of the town that I immediately felt embedded onto the wooden plank side walks of Hickory ridge.

Laura at Harvest Lane Cottage I think you’d enjoy this one, especially if you don’t want to have to skip pages with a blush.

3/13

Crystal at Cinnamon Hollow My heart ached for Carrie throughout this entire story. I cried with her, rejoiced with her and grew with her. There are MANY life lessons to be learned in this book. Carrie’s faith and endurance were tested and it was very easy to put yourself in her shoes and think about how you would handle the same situations. As a Christian, we are taught to forgive. I think Carrie’s forgiveness and ability to put others first is a testament to how we should all live. She definitely has more strength than I do and the lessons learned from reading Beauty for Ashes will remain with me and strengthen me. It is wonderful when a story can teach you so much! This was a great story and another I didn’t want to put down.

Brooke at I blog 4 books I truly enjoyed this book and look forward to seeing what will happen next in Hickory Ridge!

Pamela at Daysong Reflections With excellent characters, a great setting, a captivating story, and a touching romance, “Beauty for Ashes” has just about everything a lover of historical romance would require.

3/14

Marg at Simply Shop and Save Because I enjoyed this lighthearted, well written romance very much, I look forward to the continuation of the story of Hickory Ridge.

Kemi at Homemaking Organized Blog Another winner. I enjoyed this story. And man! That relationship between Carrie and her sister in law! When you want to smack a character you know you have a good book. Carrie was a very generous hearted woman. Much bigger than I could have been. I found this book to be well rounded. I wasn’t just looking for interaction between Carrie and Griff. There was a story with everyone. I like that in a book. So then I don’t get bored when the other characters are on scene. Even the kids were interesting.

Holly at Shelf Life One of the things I sincerely appreciate is Griff Rutledge. As a Charleston native, Dorothy Love’s character is a pure and true Charleston gentlemen (yes, to us there is Charleston, then the rest of the world). I love how she even used a prominent Charleston last name–and many more were mentioned in the novel. Her knowledge of the Charleston area astounded and impressed me immensely.

Lori at Morning Glories and Moonflowers You will fall in love with Carrie Daly!

3/15

Christy at Southern Sassy Things If possible, I think Dorothy Love’s sophomore novel is better than her first!  It’s been a long  time since I stayed up past midnight to finish a book to it’s very last page .

Jennifer at For Such a Time as This I really, really liked this book.

Alena at Little Bit Of Wonderful Dorothy Love has written a brilliant story of love, tears, trust, and redemption that I highly recommend to anyone in search of a story worth remembering!

3/16

Kelli at The Zen of Motherhood Beauty for Ashes is a fun, sweet read.

Kat at Reviews From The Heart If you’ve never read any of Dorothy Love’s book, please pick up this series. She will take you back to Hickory Ridge, Tennessee for a definite adventure in western historical fiction with some great romance thrown in for a treat! The best part of this book is that it can be read as a stand alone, but trust me, you’ll want to pick up Beyond All Measure to capture the whole story of the residents of Hickory Ridge!
