  • CATIE’S SECRET – REVIEW

I am collecting books, as I come by them, that embrace being different; that celebrate standing out. And when I had the chance to review Catie’s Secret I was quite surprised – pleasantly. Its a darling story about a caterpillar who is not quite like the others. It tells the story, with beautiful illustrations might I add, of the caterpillar turning into a butterfly (there’s some science for us home educators) and it also teaches how valuable we are, as God’s creation. The Biblical principles woven throughout this story are done in such a simple way. My oldest son (8) was not as interested as my younger ones (2 and 4) but for my two younger ones the colorful images and the simplicity of the story were captivating. My oldest did enjoy the “discussion questions” that come at the end of it.

  • GREAT KIDS BOOK TEACHING NOT TO BULLY

This was a great book that tells and shows kids in a fun way to be good to everyone. It does not matter what they look like. This is a great book to have in class rooms, especially with all the bullying there is in schools today. I loved that they were all fun animals and the pictures were beautiful. I can not wait to see what else the author writes. I am giving this book a 5/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own.

  • ANIMALS CAN REALLY TALK!

6yo Esmé loves books where animals can *really* talk. This is a fun read-aloud, since the various animal characters lend themselves to different pitches and accents, especially Catie Caterpillar’s “Chomp – gulp!”

What I enjoyed most were the educational opportunities of the book. There are questions at the end to lead a child into understanding how God has hidden special secrets inside his creation – and we shouldn’t tease others based on outward appearance.

Catie’s Secret is such an important book to have in your little ones’ libraries. Not only does it teach kids have a caterpillar turns into a butterfly, it teaches that God makes all things and that all things are different. More importantly though, it teaches children that teasing others is not okay. This book reinforces all 3 of these topics on ways young children can understand

  • LITFUSE GROUP: “CATIE’S SECRET” BY LAUREN NONEMAKER BOOK REVIEW

Your kids will absolutely adore this simple book and message, but the illustrations are truly the reason I rated this five stars. I appreciated the story, and the facts about caterpillars and butterflies was a wonderfully added treat. And I’m glad the author asked a few questions at the end of the story to drive home the Christian principles in the story. My daughter and I have raised butterflies (earlier this year), and so this book was even more fascinating since we had seen the life cycle of a butterfly up close. I recommend this book to young children and their families!

My kids are in love! They really adored this little book geared to kids and showing the importance of kindness. We are all different and even within a family need to practice kindness even amongst our differences. We are going to be on the look out for more God’s Secret Garden Adventures in this house. As a lover of reading myself, I am trying to instill in my children that same love of reading. These little garden creatures are endearing and addicting. My kids all have the book almost memorized from me having to read it to them so much. Definitely written wonderfully and in a voice that kids can love and understand.

Your child will love this really cute story about a caterpillar and how to treat other children, no matter what size, color or shape they are. It teaches forgiveness while the characters are having a great adventure all the while they are learning some life lessons.

At the end of the book there will be some trivia questions to ask your child or if you are a teacher, you can ask your class some of the questions. There is also a story challenge also that you can do. This is basically a learning lesson and would be good for homeschooled children or even children in a regular school.

What an adorable story. My daughter really enjoyed that Catie was a caterpillar and would turn into a beautiful butterfly.

This book teaches the lesson of forgiveness and how making fun of someone because of the way they look is not very kind.

A good story on how we should treat others who are different than we are. What we need to do when we hurt someone’s feeling.

  • CATIE’S SECRET BY LAURA ALLEN NONEMAKER

This story of two little bunnies and a caterpillar portrays differences in appearance. One of the bunnies said cruel things to the caterpillar, pointing out she was a yucky color and a creepy bug, and weird. The other bunny begged him to stop being cruel. Their uncle pointed out that although there are differences in appearance, beautiful secrets lived within. Important lessons about diversity can be easily learned from this story through humility, remorse, and the need to apologize in order to receive forgiveness. This is a sweet little book with colorful illustrations. There is a page of story challenge questions to ponder at the end of the book, and a page of butterfly facts. This is a great learning tool for young children.

I loved this book because of the message that it portrays to my daughter about teasing others and why it is not something you should do. The book teaches children that there is something special about everyone and no one deserves to be made fun of.

  • CHILDREN’S BOOK REVIEW: CATIE’S SECRET BY LAURA ALLEN NONEMAKER (GIVEAWAY)

This is a wonderful book, that teaches kids about being different, and that exteriors do not tell you everything about a person, that you need to get to know them better to learn about them! This is a really apt book for young kids in school, who might want to make fun of a new kid, one who has difficulties, or who had a hard time in school! Miss Grace and I had a very long discussion after reading the book, and I was pleased at how she understood that making fun of someone is bullying, and frequently because the person doesn’t know what they are talking about! This book would be great to read in class, at Sunday school, or for homeschoolers, to facilitate some great discussions! We highly recommend it!

  • GREAT LIFE LESSONS

Catie’s Secret is a colorfully illustrated nice Christian fiction children’s story. Since my five-year-old son has started Kindergarten, we get to experience a life less sheltered with him as he interacts and learns from other children at school. He has shared stories of the good and the not so good kids actions and experience and we try to learn from it all, including his own.

My children love books, so I can read Catie’s Secret over and over to them to help seal in the lessons. I love anything that will help me teach my boys and, my hope is that with that and a lot of prayer these lessons and knowledge will help them and stay with them.

This is a charming and cute children’s book that teaches children that GOD puts something special a secret inside of the most ordinary things, a nut, an egg, etc. It also has a great message that helps kids to understand that just because someone looks different, GOD loves them too, and that we should also love them. Written in a way that kids understand this is one book that is both encouraging and cute. This charming book will also help children understand that GOD put something special in them too. This is such an adorable book. My kids and I really loved the illustrations and characters. The story is delightful and really teaches a great lesson about not judging others. It really opened up a conversation for my kids and I. As a plus there is a section in the back to take the story challenge with some questions to talk about together about teasing and bullying. This is really a topic that more parents need to share with their children. I think it would help kids think twice about teasing others, or talk to an adult if they are bullied.

We also really enjoyed the butterfly facts section and had fun exploring the websites suggested. Butterflies are always so enchanting to children and it is a wonderful way to share God’s design!

  • CATIE’S SECRET BY LAURA ALLEN NONEMAKER BOOK REVIEW

This is a really cute book about a caterpillar named Catie. This wonderful book explains to children that teasing is wrong by using words and actions they will understand. All children should read what they can about how they should not tease each other and it can not be too early to start talking about it.

  • CUTE BOOK – EDUCATIONAL TOO.

Very fun and educational book. I loved how the book shares how we should treat others and not be mean about how others look too. This would be a great Easter Basket addition as well as great for a study on bugs, nature, spring, etc…

  • GREAT SCIENCE BOOK THAT TEACHES ABOUT THE GOLDEN RULE!

The science lesson is very much like the lesson in Very Hungry Caterpillar where the caterpillar turns into the butterfly at the end or the ugly duckling that turns into the swan. Animals changing is always fascinating to kids and great to work in early in life so that they understand. The difference in this book is that it takes it to the next level and teaches the kids that it is okay to be different and to never make fun of someone for being different. There aren’t enough books that teach kids the golden rule about treating people nicely. Bullying starts earlier and earlier now so it is great that this book tackles the hard issues and sets the young ones on the right path to apologizing.
