Book 3 in Dorothy Love’s Hickory Ridge Romance series.

Ethan and Sophie long to share a future together. But the secrets they’re not sharing could tear them apart.

Sophie Caldwell has returned to Hickory Ridge, Tennessee, after years away. Despite the heartaches of her childhood, Sophie is determined to make a home, and a name, for herself in the growing town. A gifted writer, she plans to resurrect the local newspaper that so enchanted her as a girl.

Ethan Heyward’s idyllic childhood was shattered by a tragedy he has spent years trying to forget. An accomplished businessman and architect, he has built a majestic resort in the mountains above Hickory Ridge, drawing wealthy tourists from all over the country.

When Sophie interviews Ethan for the paper, he is impressed with her intelligence and astounded by her beauty. She’s equally intrigued but fears he will reject her if he learns about her shadowed past. Just as she summons the courage to tell him, Ethan’s own past unexpectedly and violently catches up with him, threatening not only his life but their budding romance.

  • EVERY PERFECT GIFT BY DOROTHY LOVE ~ LITFUSE BLOG TOUR

I am a sucker for a beautiful cover and that’s just what drew me to this book, that and the fact that it’s written by one of my new favorite authors Dorothy Love. While the cover does a great job of capturing the eye, it’s the story inside that makes this book a real winner!

I really enjoyed the setting as well as the historical feel of this story. I was also pleasantly surprised that the Greenbrier, the famous resort in WV was actually mentioned in the story, this reference easily allowed me to envision the resort that was created in Hickory Ridge. I enjoyed the character of Sophie, she was a strong character, even though she was dealing with issues from her past. Ethan seemed like someone who seemed to have it all, but as we learn about him we see that he is struggling with issues as well. While this is the third and final book in the Hickory Ridge Romance series it can easily be read as a stand alone work, although it’s such a lovely series that fans of historical inspirational romance will certainly want to read all three books. I have enjoyed this series and will miss my visits to Hickory Ridge.

  • SWEET AND CAPTIVATING ROMANCE

The book is very interesting from a historical point on view. The author touches on the difficulties of workers from different backgrounds working together. The book is seems very factual in how it handles the historical facts of the era.

This is a sweet story. I enjoyed the love and honor of the story and how we see these characters move beyond hurts with grace. I liked all the twists and turns that make the story interesting and keep you wanting to read to see what happens. I can highly recommend this lovely romance.

  • I have not read a book set in this time period before and I really enjoyed it. The setting of the book was so well described and I could imagine being there. The characters are developed wonderfully and I would like to read the previous two books so that I could read more about those characters. I really enjoy when books are part of series and we can read and then catch up on our favorite characters.I definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical romances and also to anyone who just enjoys a great romance story.

  • CAPTIVATING

  • EVERY PERFECT GIFT

This is a delightful Christmassy book with all the charm of an independent young woman out to prove herself and a successful, handsome man whose thoughts have been enveloped by work. Then he meets the reporter. The sparkles of interest were barely contained as their eyes met. Still, they were wary of each other. After all, something was going on at the resort that seemed odd to Sophie. Sophie, in turn, could be a threat to Ethan if she wrote something untoward. They are both hiding something as well. Add Ethan’s unexpected visitor from the past, and it all becomes quite an interesting read. The writing is warm and easy to read. I should point out that I didn’t have the opportunity to read the first two books of this series prior to reading this book. I had no problem following the story. Mrs. Love brought me up to the minute with no trouble. Well done.

  • REVIEW | EVERY PERFECT GIFT

I enjoyed this book, the characters in this book were very entertaining and believable. I especially like the character of Sophie, and her friend Gillie. Making their way in a setting not ready for independent strong women. It was very interesting to see the newspaper business from this inside view. All in all, a great story told by a very talented author.

I don’t generally like historical romances, but this one was a good one! I was intrigued right away and the love story, and the backgrounds, of the characters could fit in today’s society as well. A romance with lots of drama and mystery. A great read.

  • BOOK REVIEW: EVERY PERFECT GIFT

What a wonderful conclusion to a great historical romance series. Old friends are encountered and new are met. And some lingering mysteries are uncovered. Every Perfect Gift is a very satisfying ending. The characters are well-written and the setting of the small town and resort feel so real. I liked the way Love reintroduced characters from the first two books; it was really like going home again for Sophie and the reader! The theme of secrets and the consequences to ourselves and future generations was well-developed — perfect for a discussion group.

  • ENJOYABLE FUN!

Every perfect gift was a wonderful and inspiring book. I loved how strong Sophie is despite everything she has gone through. I am always a big fan of books with women of strong faith. This book had sweetness, humor, romance and intrigue and I was engrossed from the start. It only took me a couple of days to read it and that is always a testament to how good it is. I fell in love with the people of Hickory ridge. Even though I had not read the previous books in the series I was not lost yet now I yearn to read them to hear the back story of all these characters. Only in a well written book can you talk about controversial things such as rights for all and make it relevant to everyone.

  • A VERY ENJOYABLE ROMANCE

Every Perfect Gift is a very enjoyable romance with a little intrigue mixed in. I loved the last 1/3′d of the book. All the loose ends start to be tied together, Sophie’s parentage starts to be explained and the relationship between Sophie & Ethan keeps you wondering. Wonderful book – easily a 4 out 5 stars on my shelf!

I sat down to read Every Perfect Gift by Dorothy Love, on a day when frankly I was rather agitated. I had a very bad, no good day, and just wanted to escape for a bit, so I grabbed Every Perfect Gift, shut myself in my bedroom and started reading. I calmed down immediately! Dorothy Love’s writing style put me to ease, took me away from all my cares and worries and transported me right into Hickory Ridge! I believe this was the first one of Dorothy Love’s books I read, and it definitely will not be the last! I adore her writing style, and the way she interweaves the lives and spirituality together.

  • PERFECT HOLIDAY READ

The story is a Christmas treat. The relationship between Sophie and Ethan is a classic will she/won’t she and the reader doesn’t know until the very end. Sophie is a very complex and forward thinking woman for her time and Ms. Love gives her a perfect foil in Ethan – a man who is willing to look past social mores and believe in love. I found myself smiling as I read the passages where these two appeared. Sophie does finally learn her history and the hard lesson in life that we don’t always get what we want but we can make what we have the best it can be.

A very inspirational and satisfying holiday read.

I loved getting to know Sophie as an adult! While in some respects, she’s come into her own, she still struggles with the sting of rejection from the town where she grew up. It’s really amazing to watch how she continues to grow and puts aside her own judgments and prejudices against the townspeople of Hickory Ridge. The romance between Ethan and her is sweet. At times it drove me crazy that they wouldn’t just be open with each other, but I can understand not knowing if you can trust someone or not. Trust is earned after all! The cover of Every Perfect Gift made me happy. A beautiful woman all in white in a classic snow scene complete with red barn and church with a steeple. It reminds me of my New Hampshire roots. First impressions are everything and that’s really all it took to draw me in. It just got better from there!

This is the first Hickory Ridge Romance I’ve read and it will not be my last! Sophie is an inspirational character from the start; doing a “man’s job” and starting her own business in a time that this was unheard of for a woman in the 1800’s. Dorothy Love’s characters are so full of life that they seem to want to step out of the pages of the book. From the primary characters of Sophie and Ethan, to Sophie’s new friend Gillie, her old friend Robbie, and a host of other townspeople, each adds a unique perspective to the story. The plot progresses at a fairly even pace with highs and lows that reflect normal day-to-day life. A strong message on forgiveness permeates the story and I found the ending quite satisfying.

I enjoyed this final visit to Hickory Ridge. The town and this novel are filled with characters that were easy to connect with. Sophie endeared herself to me immediately.

  • EVERY PERFECT GIFT

The historical value of the book is “spot on” and very true for the time and that really makes the book even more enjoyable. The theme of the book is being able to overcome lifes obstacles and giving grace to one another. I picked up the book on a “lazy Saturday afternoon” and began reading and couldn’t stop.

  • BEAUTIFUL HISTORICAL ROMANCE

Ready for a sweet, Christian read? This is definitely it! Dorothy Love is one of those authors you can always count on to deliver quality romances where the characters quietly rely on God–or at least learn to rely on Him–and the romance never comes across as sappy. She is a skilled writer, and you will always find the story uplifting and completely appropriate.

  • GREAT READ

Every Perfect Gift is the final installment of the Hickory Ridge series from Dorothy Love and in my opinion, it was my favorite of the three books! With amazing descriptions of the time period, delightful characters, and a little romance thrown in, you will be brought back in time with each chapter read.

  • There were some very important topics discussed in this book. One of the most important was the idea of equality. This was touched upon in a couple ways. One was racial equality. As Sophie deal with her past, she must deal with the poor way she has been treated because of her suspected bloodline. Ethan has to deal with something similar but in a very different way.Written by A Casual Reader’s Blog on December 18 | e
