Singer Ginny Marshall is one signature away from the recording contract of her dreams—a deal that would guarantee success for the former foster child, who still struggles to bury the memories of her painful childhood. But Ginny needs advice from the one person who will look out for her best interests—her former fiancé, Brett Miller. She travels to the remote town of Glacier Bay, Alaska, where the town’s colorful characters and stunning scenery provide respite from LA’s pressures.
In Glacier Bay, Ginny discovers a box of old letters and is swept up in the love story between Clay, an early missionary to Alaska Territory, and Ellie, the woman who traveled there to be his children’s governess. When Ginny is reunited with Brett in Glacier Bay, will she discover—as Ellie did—that healing and love are sometimes found in the most unexpected places?

WOW!! I have to say this is my favorite book from Ocieanna and Tricia. I have read their other LFY books and this one blew me away. Awesome story! Awesome research, beautiful setting, beautiful historical side story. I just don’t know if I have enough word to describe how much I enjoyed this book.
Oh how I love a good story!
This particular book reminded me of The Notebook, but with a deeper moral compass. It was the letters and going from back-in-time to today, is what reminded me. The stories themselves were so very different, and for me, this was richer in the things I look for in a good book.
When I read a good Christian book, it has to have challenged my own morals and beliefs. Did I ask myself what I would do in that situation? Did I feel a tug on my heartstrings or did I shout out loud at the book in moments that were sensitive and intense? Did I smile lovingly when others I read about had good moments to smile about too? Yes, yes and yes!!!
So many reasons to love this book and none to complain about. It was THAT good!
I also loved the author’s personal notes in the back, complete with photos from their journey to Glacier Bay, Alaska. (View the photo slideshow below.)
I have, am and always will be a fan of these two ladies, and this book just emphasized why.
I fell in love with this book and it’s surroundings. The story told through the letters that Ginny read about Clay and Ellie was just precious. Ginny’s original reason for going to Glacier Bay was to get advice from Brett about her singing career. She never quite gets to ask him as she is diverted by Brett’s, Grandmother who has her read the letters of Ellie and Clay.
Tricia and Ocieanna have written a wonderful story of love, forgiveness, and true happiness. This is a must read for 2013.
This book was such an interesting read! There were 2 stories intertwined, one from the past and one in the present. And though it did take me until almost halfway through the book to finally get ‘into’ it…once I did it had ahold of me and I needed to see just what was going to happen! Loved all the characters, but my favourite was definitely ‘Grandma’ with her matchmaker mischievious ways! This book is a 4/5 for me!
I always find it extremely fascinating when I read a book that is co-authored. The writers did a beautiful job of capturing the scenery, making the characters feel like I could see them in my mind’s eye, and the inclusion of the drenching rain felt palpable!
This book is so amazing. It is two love stories from two different periods in time, combined into one. The stories of Ginny and Brett and Ellie and Clay as well as Janey and her siblings are so filled with raw emotion that I, literally, bawled my eyes out throughout the entire novel. God’s love is questioned. But His love is also apparent in the entire story. Both stories, actually!
I love how Tricia and Ocieanna write together. And the authors really did their research on the area of Glacier Bay. They have such compatibility as authors and it is so evident in their novels.
This is one of my favorite lines from the book:
… As heartbroken as we all are, we know our calling is here, and our Rock is the Lord.
When a book plays out like a movie in my head—even after I’ve closed the cover—I know it’s a keeper. And LFYIGBA passes that Wish-It-Were-a-Hallmark-Movie test with flying colors! This novel contains all the elements that capture my imagination: the stunning physical setting, the beautiful, torn-between-two-beaus heroine, the handsome, good-guy hero, and the feisty-but-wise grandma. Plus, there’s an intriguing story from the past told through a box of old letters, which adds depth to this sweetly romantic story.
This book intertwines a wonderful historical romance with a contemporary love story that leaves the reader with a sense of wonder about how generations can reach across the years to touch lives. The wonderful team of Goyer and Fleiss has again created a story that takes you directly into the lives and struggles of another place and time (their first book was Love Finds You in Victory Heights, Washington).
Through intense research and an actual visit to this fabulous setting, the reader can sense the majesty of the landscape and feel the cold bite of the wind. The local characters are based on real life residents of the town who obviously add quite a bit of color to the community.
LFY in Glacier Bay, Alaska is a delightful book with deep messages about forgiveness and trust.
LFY in Glacier Bay is a well-crafted love story written with care and attention to detail. The authors obviously delighted in Glacier Bay, which they researched on site, and their affection for this place is imbued in every page. The writing by these two experienced authors is as fine as you’ll find in a Christian romance. As I read the book, I often paused to savor a particularly well-turned phrase (“The life vest captured the pounding of his heartbeat…”). The story is peopled by kind, Christian characters—and a few who aren’t. If you love Christian romances and you’re looking for an easy escape to an intriguing time and place, you’ll find what you’re looking for in Love Finds You in Glacier Bay, Alaska.
When you read this book please take my advice and have a box of tissues ready along with ample time to devour each page. As you travel through Glacier Bay your attention to everyday mundane chores such as cleaning may be limited due to the fact that one simply cannot put this book down. I say travel because you really will be transported to Alaska through the pages of this truly heartwarming story minus the long underwear or as they say in my neck of the woods long johns.
One thing I found throughout this book was the love of the Lord, no matter how far back we went, He was their Rock. As soon as we meet Brett’s Grandmother, we see that she walks with Her Lord. She embraces Ginny with her love, and gives her a might gift….Ellie’s and Clay’s letters and journals. Oh how I never wanted this to end!
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book! Ginny and Brett’s story was cute but my favorite part was Clay and Ellie’s story. I honestly wouldn’t have minded if the whole book was about them, though reading it through the letters was pretty cool too! I loved the town it was set in and how everyone knew everyone and everything. This book made me laugh so much and I really liked it-definitely one I’ll recommend!
I loved the setting and how small the town of Glacier Bay was.
I also loved the “letters” that were in Love Finds You in Glacier Bay, Alaska – they were one of my favorite parts of the story. I found it interesting to read Ellie’s story firsthand. =)
The story flows cohesively through the pages. The characters are like-able and the ‘historical context’ of letters from generations ago integrates well into the novel. And, there is plenty of tension on the pages that has you hungry to read more.
I usually shy away from novels that are written by more than one author, but co-authors Tricia Goyer and Ocieanna Fleiss skillfully integrate the two love stories in this book. The authors explored the setting and captured the stunning scenery of Glacier Bay, as well as the colorful personalities of the town’s lively characters.
IF you love Christian romances blended with bits of history and mystery, set in a captivating locale, you’ll find it all in Love Finds You in Glacier Bay, Alaska.
Well first off – Is that not an absolutely gorgeous covert? And this book has a story to match! What a wonderful read this was.I absolutely love books like this.
There are even a few mysteries in this story. It keeps you guessing with lots of twists and turns. A few things are predictable (which is ok) but a lot of things are not!
It’s hard to even find the words to express how much I loved this book! When I realized the book would have both contemporary and historical sections, I was a bit apprehensive—usually in cases like that, I vastly prefer one plot line to the other. But I needn’t have worried—I equally loved both sections, and I was just as anxious as Ginny was to learn what happened to Clay and Ellie!
While Glacier Bay is largely the story of Ginny and Ellie, it’s also populated with quirky characters in a small town that I’d love to visit. I’d also love to know what happened to some of the minor characters, especially Kelly from the coffee house. Sequel, maybe?
Tricia Goyer and Ocieanna Fleiss have done an amazing job of pulling you into the story and making you a part of the small town culture of Gustavus, their characters feel familiar and you feel as if you have known them for your entire life, with two stories folded into one you will share in the heartache, the laughter and understand the healing that takes place as Ginny searches for direction.
So many wonderful messages fill the pages of this breathtaking book. The story reminded me that God does indeed work in mysterious ways and that He works all things for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. His plans are to prosper us and not harm us. He desires to give us hope and a future. Hallelujah!
I loved this book. I couldn’t put it down. It was like I was reading two stories in one-the historical story of Glacier Bay with Clay and Ellie, and the contemporary story with Ginny and Brett. I felt like I was there with the characters-like they were part of my family, and the authors did a beautiful job of painting the scenery of Glacier Bay with words. I learned so much about this area of Alaska, and now I want to go there even more than before (and I really have wanted to go)! I highly suggest reading Love Finds You in Glacier Bay, Alaska-it will make you laugh, and it will make you cry!
The Love Find You series is a great series of books and this book is no exception! Set in Glacier Bay Alaska, the setting makes for a wonderful story. I have never been to Alaska and I really enjoy reading about places that are so different from where I live. Alaska seems like a place I would love to visit!
I really enjoyed Love Finds You in Glacier Bay, Alaska. It’s amazing how the authors go between modern day GB, Alaska and the 1920s GB, Alaska. I loved reading the letters between Ellie and Clay and Ellie and her grandfather — to see the hardships and the love that results from perseverance and endurance. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys good, clean writing and a bit of a history lesson, as well as, a sweet romance.
I love a good romance novel, especially one that could be full of hope and promise. Love Finds You in Glacier Bay Alaska has just that, hope that a former romance can be reignited and promise that love actually does take place throughout all of history
Love Finds You In Glacier Bay Alaska is basically two love stories intertwined in one novel that will have you turning page after page until the end.
I was pleasantly surprised! Two authors come together, one who was on her deathbed…well she was seriously ill to write this nice piece of fiction about a present day romance and a historical one with some real history about Glacier Bay Alaska.
I loved Ginny so much and wished I could just tell her to trust and things will be better in your future. Grandma Ethel what can we say about her other than she was a sweet person and knew just what Ginny needed. Who could not help but fall in love with Brett, he was so patient and just wanted to be there for Ginny. I did not care for Danny from the first moment I read about him. I loved how the book would go back into the past with the letters. I found myself like Ginny wanting to hurry up and get to the next letter so I could see what was going on with Ellie and Clay. I think everyone should take a day or two and read this book. It makes you stop and think about things and to know things are not always as you think they are. I would now love to go visit Alaska and go to the places in that Ginny went to and see all the great people of this little town with a big heart. I don’t want to give to much away so I won’t go into specifics of what I read but I think you will like the ending as much or better than the beginning. I think the end was very fitting. Great job to these two authors. Well worth 5 stars in my book.
From the minute I opened the book I knew I was going to love it and by the time I flipped the last page this book made its mark and earned a spot in my permanent book collection. This was one of the best contemporary books I’ve read in a long while and it’s certainly my favorite by this writing duo.
This book was a visual treat! The author’s descriptive prose really brings the setting of Alaska to life, allowing me to easily picture Alaska in all it’s beauty! While the characters in the story were great, and easy to relate too, after all Ginny was dealing with past issues, issues that her new boyfriend new nothing about.I thought the chemistry between Ginny and Brett was great. For me though, it was the story that is revealed thru a box of old letters. The letters transported me back to the 1920′s revealing a remarkable love story. Even though the story shifts from past to present, the transition is always smoothly done. If your looking for a very well written story, that blends together a wonderful historical story, while also providing a great contemporary read as well, your not going to be disappointed with this book. A great story line with interesting characters and beautiful scenery made this another great addition to the Love Finds You series!
I really enjoyed this book. It had a great message, that anything is possible when you give it over to GOD. I recommend reading this great book to find out. Great job Tricia and Ocieanna, a wonderful collaboration. It made me see Alaska in a different light. This book was very well written.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest review for my participation in this blog tour.
I have a confession to make. I hardly ever read love stories. I don’t even listen to love songs either. I typically would not choose this genre to read or review. But, I love the authors and decided why not.
I’m so glad I did because I would have really missed out. I was completely blown away by Love Finds You In Glacier Bay. Yes, it’s fiction and yes, it’s a love story. Yet, it’s also so much more than that.

…a great curl-up-by-the-fire winter read! It is actually two stories in one, with one being set in the present and the other in the 1920s, told through a box of old letters. I loved this format of storytelling and got caught up in both story-lines as they unfolded in a somewhat-but-not-quite parallel way.
Wow I love, love this wonderfully written story by Tricia Goyer and Ocieanna Fleiss! Ginny’s trip back to Glacier Bay and her journey through the letters Grandma Ethel wanted her to read turned out to be one of the most beautiful and tender stories I have ever read. And I loved Grandma Ethel. She surely lived a loved and blessed life, even though it was simple and she didn’t have a lot of material things. She really knew what was really important in life. And she wanted to make sure Ginny found that out too. But it wasn’t always easy. And I appreciate how the authors show how important it is to make sure we are doing what God wants us to do in our everyday lives.
4.5 out of 5 stars, this is a tender novel about a woman trying to overcome her past while coming to terms with what and who she wants for her future. I was enraptured in this novel’s double dose of love! Ellie & Clay’s sweet and thrilling tale made a perfect backdrop to Ginny trying to overcome the hurt and heartache that she had become accustomed too. In addition, I thoroughly enjoyed the secondary characters throughout this novel from the mischievous Grandma Ethel to Ellie’s playfully joyful Grandfather they were all quite fun to read about!
I recommend this novel to anyone who likes historical & contemporary romances!!
The beauty of this book is the stash of old letters Ginny takes up reading. The letters chronicle a long-lost past that Ginny feels inexplicably drawn to. Even though you feel like you might know what will happen at the end of the story, I can just about guarantee that you don’t. Now I’m thinking of picking up a few more of the Love Finds You books!
**A Story That Stole My Heart**
The authors, Tricia and Ocieanna, have beautifully woven these lives, who lived nearly 100 years apart, together into this hard-to-put-down modern-day romance. Both of the characters grew and developed chapter by chapter; from being insecure and unsure about life, and about themselves, to having a confidence only God can give.
The strength of this novel is its setting. This is one in a series of romance novels taking place in various locations in the United States. The authors do a great job of weaving the history of the area into the story. One really gets a feel for the area.
The romance is pleasant. It would have been a bit slow but becomes quite interesting when paralleled with the historical story. The authors have done their research well.
The Christian themes are strong in this novel. Ginny is faced with the possibility of great success. And God has certainly given her a gifted voice. But is it what God wants?
Combining Ginny and Brett’s story with a love story through letters from the past made for a beautiful combination and this sweet romance flows smoothly between the two. This book captures the sentimental side in us all. There is wonderful wisdom found within the pages of this book! Adventure, romance, and heartache fill the pages as relationships are tested and unlikely friendships are formed.
I guess my focus was probably on Ginny and Brett’s story. I connected more with Ginny when she described herself as a person who grew up without a mom and dad, maybe because I spent a good part of my childhood without one of my real parents…It was interesting to learn that this is one of the novels that the publisher has produced out of their goal of fifty U.S. states.
This was a beautifully written story, with the words helping to visualize the beauty of Alaska. I have been there and I know how difficult it is to explain the immense beauty. I think the authors did a fantastic job in describing Alaska and also the hearts of Ginny and Brett.
I devoured this book as though I was starving and hadn’t eaten in days. It took me less than a day to read. Tricia and Ocieanna really dive into the rich history of the land and paint the beautiful picture that is Alaska. I was on the edge of my seat and had to know what Ginny would do next and what the outcome would be for Ellie, the woman in the letters. Reading about the two completely different time periods was fascinating. I love the way the authors developed both love stories simultaneously and ended it beautifully! What really touched me was seeing Ginny’s faith blossom through reading the letters and spending time with both Grandma Ethel and Brett. Any story that makes me laugh and cry out loud, regardless of my surroundings, is a best seller to me!
“Love Finds You in Glacier Bay, Alaska” is a skillful fusion of both contemporary and historical fiction in one novel. Up-and-coming singer Ginny Marshall is on the threshold of success with a contract waiting to be signed and an invitation to sing at the grammies. Not only that but famous music producer Danny Kingston has shown serious romantic interest in her as well. Her dreams are all coming true so why does Ginny feel so unsettled? Why can’t she forget Brett, her former fiance? A spontaneous decision takes Ginny to Alaska for the purpose of getting Brett’s advice but circumstances keep her there much longer than she had planned. While staying at the home of Brett’s grandmother, Ginny (and the reader) are given an intimate look into the lives of Ellie and Clay, earlier residents of the small Alaskan town by reading through a box of old letters.
Hearing the details made me hungry to read the book and I wasn’t disappointed. All those details and so many more were incorporated into the book causing Glacier Bay to come alive in my mind and making me want to visit it in person after visiting it on the page.
The story is woven between a contemporary search for someone who can understand you at the deepest soul level, and letters that detail a story from the 1920s that includes that part of Alaska. Through the letters, the heroine gains the courage to risk her heart to the one person who has ever really seen her. I have really enjoyed the books that Tricia Goyer and Ocieanna Fleiss co-author. This book is a delightful blend of the historical and the contemporary. And its a story that will call you back to the pages again and again.
This wonderful story is both a contemporary romance and a historical one as well. The tale of a past romance is woven in throughout the story of Ginny and Brett’s romance through the use of a box of old letters. With a stunning backdrop, interesting side characters, and an intriguing story line, Love Finds You in Glacier Bay Alaska has earned a place on my bookshelf. I will definitely want to read this inspiring book again.
If I could it would be more!
This book was simply AMAZING! I love how all of this was explained and worked into the story. It’s unlike any other book I’ve read!
The characters in this book are so colorful, caring, interesting, loving and lovable, I fell in love with them all, immediately, especially Brett’s Grandmother. I just wanted to hug her! She is wise beyond her years, and knows that Ginny and Brett are in love and belong together, and hints this to Ginny, too, in so many words! I LOVE Grandmother!
I feel like I’ve just returned from a trip to the most beautiful, solitary place in Alaska….at least in my mind, I have. I can easily picture Bud’s and the quaint little coffee shop. I can see very vividly the plane crash and the historical museum. I felt like I was the one learning of the love story between Ellie and Clay. I did thoroughly love the story of Ginny and Brett. With all of the nice things people said about Brett, I liked him from the beginning and thought Danny was just using Ginny.
I was a little bit confused when the story started, but by the end of the book, the two sets of stories were intertwined in a way that definitely made sense to me.
The authors did a great job of intertwining faith throughout this book and encouraging readers to trust God and His plans for them.
I usually enjoy books that feature two stories interwoven together, but I normally find that I am much more involved in one of the stories than the other and tend to almost skim through the “boring” one to get to the “good” one. No such problem here! I found both storylines equally compelling and entertaining.
We are treated to a story within a story. Ginny is learning all about Ellie’s story in order to help her figure out what she wants out of life. I loved Ellie’s story and the history of this wonderful town in Alaska. Ellie’s story is told in the form of letters that Ethel gives to Ginny. I connected more to the past story than the present, but still was moved by Ginny’s journey to wholeness.
I am a huge fan of the “Love Finds You” book series written by different authors about different cities throughout the country. And Love Finds You in Glacier Bay, Alaska did not disappoint! In fact, it was one of my favorites!
I love the mix of the two generations’ stories and the historical aspect it brought about Alaska. I also really love how they brought real people from Glacier Bay, Alaska into the story. It was written by two of my favorite authors, Fleiss and Goyer, and as always, their writing was flawless and held me on the edge of my seat to always find out what was going to happen next!
If you are looking for a great love story this winter, curl up with Love Finds You in Glacier Bay, Alaska!
This was an enjoyable read, and I really liked following the two stories and seeing how the old stories had an effect on Ginny. I liked the interactions between the characters, and how Ginny healed through her relationship with God and with her friends. I really liked the old-time story, and how it really added to the one set in present day. One of my favorite characters was Ellie’s grandfather, his faith and sense of contentment was inspiring.
This is a great story. I love the story within a story with the love letters. A perfect romance to curl up with for the winter! It made me want to visit Alaska! I love how the story brings the past into the present, and intertwines them! Great love sto
The conflict within Ginny was real and tangible. I actually felt terrible WITH her at times. I was taken by the aspect of the letters that wove their way through the book and I was in awe of the love that these two had for each other and the way that they managed to put their hurt aside to care for each other.
Overall, I really enjoyed the story, loved the characters and the setting and story-within-a-story. It’s a really good read for anyone who likes Christian romances or even historical novels.
This book is unique in that it weaves two stories into one. You find yourself traveling between two time periods throughout the book which makes this book all that more intriguing and thought provoking.
Ginny is a character that you grow to love and I found that as Ellie is introduced into the story through her letters I was brought more into the story. The letters between Clay and Ellie weave a picture of love that is more than feeling. Tricia Goyer and Ocieanna Fleiss do a wonderful job in not only telling a wonderful story but leaving you with food for thought. This was a book that was hard to put down and I thoroughly enjoyed the character development.
Heartwarming & Beautiful!
Grab a cup of tea and join these well-written characters whose lives are woven by generations before them. You will also luv the backdrop of Alaska, it adds such depth and beauty to the storyline. I know you will enjoy this story that is revealed thru a box of old letters just as I have.
It’s one of those stories that is so smooth. So seamless you forget that you’re really reading. The setting becomes a character, Brett’s Gram is a complete dear and what a fun surprise it was at the end of the story to find out who she really is. (shh, but I won’t tell for spoiler alerts)
I loved the descriptions of Alaska and I can actually imagine myself being there. I keep seeing the new movie based on a Nicholas Sparks sappy novel and I keep wondering why great novels like Love Finds You in Glacier Bay, Alaska and other Christian novels don’t get made into movies, as I wouldn’t mind watching them. Overall, I loved reading the book (which I read in one sitting) and I highly recommend it other readers.
The Alaskan setting, especially the town of Gustavus, is practically a character itself. It’s a small town where everybody knows everyone and are all up in each other’s business, but with the best of intentions. They support each other, cheer for each other, maybe even gossip a little about each other, but it’s definitely an interesting and scenic little town. This gorgeous setting and all of the photos I have seen from the authors’ research trip have me dreaming about taking a trip to Alaska some day.
Love Finds You in Glacier Bay, Alaska, is a heartwarming story of love . . . and more! Romance is very much a part of the tale, but another big draw for me was observing Ginny and Ellie grow and discover more about themselves. The descriptions of the surroundings made me feel like I was visiting Glacier Bay — and made me wish I could go there.
For a fun, touching read, settle in to your comfy reading spot for an enjoyable journey to Glacier Bay, Alaska. I think you’ll enjoy your trip.
As soon as the main character started discovering the beauty of Alaska, I was hooked. My family will be moving to Alaska in less than a month. After just one visit, I can picture everything Ginni saw, and my breath catches.
And I loved the way the authors wove the two love stories together. They enriched each other. “Glacier Bay” was an easy read. It took a bit to get going. But how enjoyable in the end! Kudos!
LOVE FINDS YOU IN GLACIER BAY, ALASKA is a truly sweet story that bridge the genre gap of historical and contemporary. Two stories are included in one. I thoroughly fell totally in love with Brett. What a man. And I also fell in love with Ellie in the historical part.
My favorite character was the independent and tenacious Grandma Ethel. Her one track mind (to find her grandson’s true love) moves the story along at a pleasant pace and when she shares a package of old love letters with Ginny I wasn’t able to put the book down! It’s endearing how a love story from the past combined with a present day romance are woven together so perfectly to heal the broken heart of a child.
absolutely loved the parallel romances and the remarkable way the two stories become interwoven together. I think that the struggles both Ginny and Ellie faced are so very relatable for women of all ages and walks of life. As we try to find our place in the world and strive to balance our hopes and dreams against the reality around us, we have to learn to follow God, because He is the only one who will fulfill our hearts and lives.
In Love Finds You in Glacier Bay Alaska, I meet up with some amazing women. I know that Ginny the main character was suppose to fill my heart. But it was Ellie and Clay, a story from long ago that tugged at it instead. This was a good story within a story by writing team Tricia Goyer and Ocieanna Fleiss. I like them like this. Now what I do not care for is the fantasy that a successful woman is going to throw away a wonderful career worth gob loads of money away for a life in the middle of nowhere with not a dime to rub together. That is not realistic at all. So please, writers, remember we ladies do have love in heart but common sense in our brains.
