I Want It All (David C. Cook, March 2016)

God created you for exceptional impact. Exceptional power. And exceptional blessings.

Gwen Smith knows how easy it is to dismiss God’s plans with the thoughts, I can’t make a big difference for God because I’m just an ordinary woman with an ordinary life. Yet God created us to join Him in doing amazing work in the world. He created us to live with abundant joy, courage, and influence. But not the joy, courage, and influence of the world. He offers His grace for each failure, His love that shatters hate, His peace that soothes the turmoil, His comfort, guidance, wisdom, rest, power, and significance. Every blessing He has for us is ours for the taking.

I Want It All will ignite a fire in your heart to experience more faith, more power, and more impact. More of Jesus. All of Jesus. Everything that God has for you.

  • ‘I WANT IT ALL’ BY GWEN SMITH

I Want It All by Gwen Smith is an uplifting, read. She intertwines stories of her own life, anecdotes of life, in with teaching and words of wisdom for moms/women who want a complete relationship with God, not just a surface one. It is easy to read through quickly, and miss some of the finer points, so my suggestion is to take your time, and mull over each chapter before moving on to the next one. It would be a great book to do with a group of girlfriends, or moms group while the kids are having their playdate!

  • ‘I WANT IT ALL’ REVIEW

The whole time I was reading this book I was thinking, “Finally, someone who gets what I am feeling and thinking!” One of my favorite parts of the book was when she talked about our obligations – our family, job(s), friends, community, and church. People depend on us for so many things, which is great. And we are to put our faith into action as God commands us. BUT, we can’t do so much that we are exhausted and weary. I am definitely in a phase of life where I am living this out. I want to serve others and be there for others, but I also know my limits. That is my phase right now. In ten years, I will be serving in different ways, and maybe in more ways. But right now, I’m good. Thank you, Gwen, for the assurance that this is okay. I don’t have to do it all!

  • ‘I WANT IT ALL’ BY GWEN SMITH

Gwen Smith reaches out to the younger, millennial generation of young women with her new book, I Want It All. In it, she addresses the urgent need for being a more faithful outlook and a deeper understanding of what it means to walk the Christian walk.

I enjoyed the fresh and smart attitude that Gwen brought to this serious subject. It was almost as if she was sitting across from you, chatting over coffee. And while the overall book is regarding an important and fascinating topic, it wasn’t a drudge to learn from this excited daughter of God.

I highly recommend this book for younger women who are looking to broaden their faith. (Older women could learn a few things too! I know I did!)

  • A BOOK REVIEW

I Want It All by Gwen Smith is one of my top five books this year by far! I Gwen bares her heart and reminds us that we have it all when we have Jesus in our life. She is raw and honest, and I found myself quoting a lot of what I read in the book on social media, underlining and highlighting tons of the book. It is a book that I will reference for many years and I absolutely love that the book includes a study guide, making it perfect for small group, ladies bible study and even personal study times. With each word written Gwen encourages us to have a heart that wants it all for Jesus.

I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up!

In this book, Gwen Smith does an amazing job of reminding us what race we should be running – the one toward God. She not only uses real-life stories to illustrate her points, but she brings us back to God’s word and how it relates to how our lives should look. She reminds us that we can have everything this world has to offer, but without God we have nothing.

  • ‘I WANT IT ALL’ BY GWEN SMITH {GREAT RESOURCE FOR CHRISTIAN WOMEN}

I Want it All by Gwen Smith is a wonderful book for the Christian woman who feels like something is ‘missing’ from her life; the career she never had, the home she wishes was hers, the ‘what-ifs’ that come from having regrets about decisions made in the past, and the feeling that each day holds the same mundane tasks. We Christian women know in our heads that Christ alone can complete us, redeem us, and is the source of our purpose, yet Smith moves beyond “head knowledge” and delves much deeper in discussing what it looks like–feels like–to excitedly embrace all that God has for us!

I Want it All guides the reader into a closer relationship with Christ. With funny anecdotes from her own experiences, she teaches with grace and authority. Perfect for women in any stage of their Christian life.

Each chapter has questions at the end for the reader to reflect on and there is a study guide in the back of the book. This author doesn’t shy away from the tough subjects and even tackles some that most people are afraid to talk about.

I love how down to earth and real the author was. It was so easy to relate to what she was saying and draw so much encouragement from it. I came away from reading this book so refreshed and inspired as it is so easy to get caught up in merely existing in between all of ones responsibilities. This book really dives into the awesome powers of our God and how life changing his love really is.

  • FINDING MY FAITH: ‘I WANT IT ALL’

One thing I loved about I Want It All is that it ignited a passion within me to continue my journey with God and become more like Jesus. It was incredible how a simple book could create this drive in me to be a better person. I’ll be honest; I’ve stayed away from Christian literature in the past because I always felt like the author portrayed themselves as a “perfect Christian,” which we all know doesn’t exist (except Jesus of course!). What kept me reading this book, was that Gwen Smith was 100% open, honest, and raw with her readers. She proved to me that even if you can’t be a “perfect Christian” you can continue to strive for that.

  • ‘I WANT IT ALL’ ~ A BOOK WORTH YOUR TIME TO READ

I think I can easily say that at one point or another we all want it all! It’s deep in our human nature. We are a greedy people. In this book Gwen talks about how we want it all, but reminds us that the ALL we should want is not of this world. The All needs to be the things that last for eternity. The All needs to be wanting more of God.

Each one of us has been chosen specifically by Him for His glory and we are important to Him. It is so easy to get caught up in the business of life and we forget to remember how significant we are to His plan and purpose.

Throughout the book, Gwen draws us back to the Word and helps us to focus on what really matters and how special we are. She challenges you to grow more deeply in your faith and not just be an ordinary Believer, but to be extraordinary and have a deeper impact on the world around you! To that I say Amen!

This is a wonderful book and I can highly recommend it to you!

  • GREAT SMALL GROUP RESOURCE

I Want It All doesn’t focus on ways to pursue attaining worldly things. Rather, it explores the manner in which one can grow in faith and have a deeper impact. The book is divided up into three sections – All the Faith, All the Power, and All the Impact, and it is written in a highly accessible manner. I really enjoyed reading this book, and I also felt challenged by it. This text also includes a study guide section, and it would make a terrific resource for a small group study.

  • GROW CLOSER TO GOD!

This is a book that had me searching my heart and focusing on what God wants for me and not what I want; focusing on what God thinks about me and not what the world thinks about me.

I love how Gwen shares her heart openly and gives us a glimpse into her life. I could relate to her thoughts so much and the things she goes through. I definitely felt some conviction from what she shares, too, and that’s always good for the soul. Sometimes what I focus on is not at all what God wants me to focus on and she gently, yet firmly, reminds me of this.

I could tell that she put a lot of thought and research into this book, too, and that’s always a plus for me. I love that she tells us some of the Greek for the words that she shares to give us a deeper understanding of God’s Word. The questions for each chapter are thought provoking and really helped me. Also, this would make this book perfect for a ladies Bible study or small group.

All in all, this was an excellent book. Gwen doesn’t adopt a lofty attitude but writes to us like we’re her friends. I love all the great Scriptures and the fact that is biblical. I got so much out of this book and I highly recommend it! I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

  • WHEN YOU’RE READY TO MAKE AN IMPACT: GWEN SMITH’S ‘I WANT IT ALL’

When I first saw this book’s cover, the title jumped out at me. I’m guilty of feeling like I always want more, so I thought it would encourage me to be content and satisfied with the gifts God’s given me. Instead, it pushed me into deep conviction.

Since the author is also a singer/songwriter, I was soon mesmerized by her poetic voice. Each chapter begins with a personal story from the author’s life, so in many ways, this reads like a memoir, which is my favorite type of non-fiction book. I love it when a writer is brave enough to allow thousands of strangers to peek into her heart. She’s also deeply knowledgeable about Scripture and how it applies to the life of the 21st century woman.

This book would be great for a women’s Bible Study or Book Club. Fresh, energetic, and inspiring!

This is a book that is so timely for me! Life is busy right now (but when is it not?) and I’m juggling everything but at the same time, wanting more of God. I don’t want to ever be too busy for God. Gwen got me hooked right from the beginning: “I want more. I want to live beyond ordinary. I want revival. Authentic soul-level revival. I want a maxed-out faith in Jesus that believes big things of God and waits in great expectation for how He is going to show up and show off on Main Street each day.”I love this! She so adequately sums up what I want.

  • ‘I WANT IT ALL’ BOOK REVIEW

God has put us on this earth to fulfill the plans He had for us before the world was spoke into existence. However, when life unfolds and routine and mundane sets in we often begin to feel ordinary…unimportant and forget that God has amazing plans for our lives. We stop dreaming the dreams God puts within our heart. Gwen reminds us that our God is able to do abundantly more than we can ask or imagine.

Gwen knows it can be easy for us to loose ourselves in the everyday and begin to dismiss God’s plans for our lives. Yet, we are created to join Him in walking out amazing kingdom work. No one is too ordinary for God to use. It’s in the ordinary that God’s glory shines through. Gwen shares how we can live abundantly, courageously, and joyfully in the place that God has planted us.

  • REFRESHER BUT NOT FRESH

Unfortunately for me, this was a miss. While it is always helpful to read about someone’s trials and how their faith gets them through as a refresher, this wasn’t anything new. A refresher, yes– fresh, no. Smith has her anecdotes and her scriptures but I never felt connected to the material. That isn’t to say other readers won’t find her material inspiring or appealing. It just didn’t lift me. And that’s okay. I still thought about her mission and problems and that might be all I needed from this book.

  • LIKE HAVING A GOOD CHAT WITH A WISE FRIEND

I like how she lays right out in front who this book is for, and what it’s about. And funny she says bit that about becoming good friends because that’s exactly the tone she adopts throughout I Want It All: friendly. Warm and upbeat, yet honest and real; chummy…sometimes downright folksy. Its tone, I believe, dictates that this book will find its greatest appeal in the under-40 crowd. And even though I can’t strictly count myself among these young folk, I found in reading her book that I want this woman as my friend–and I sensed she might actually want me for hers too.

From page one, I knew Gwen Smith and I would see eye to eye on a lot of stuff, because she’s all about dreaming big and aiming high–not for our own sake but because that’s what God wants for us, and for others.

In her transparent and honest voice, Gwen touches on several areas of what it means to have a relationship with God. Not just any relationship, but a deep friendship with the creator. An understanding of all he offers. In every chapter she zeroes in on his truth. As a follower of Jesus, I can have all the love, peace, joy, and grace God has to offer. All of it! Through life examples, scripture, and friendly conversation Gwen opens her heart to share how to have all God has to offer. If you are seeking a closer walk with the Father I highly recommend I Want It All. It’s filled with wisdom from a humble writer who’s chasing God with all her heart.

Every woman should read this book as she seeks out God.

  • ‘I WANT IT ALL’ {A LITFUSE PUBLICITY GROUP REVIEW}

I think the best books can make you feel the sting of conviction without making you feel that you’re being preached at, and Smith’s book meets that qualification for me. There were occasional places that dragged, but those were the topics that weren’t as relevant for me in my faith walk right now. If you’re wanting a great book to do a spiritual checkup with, this is wonderful book to read and to complete the scripture readings and reflection questions as you go.

  • EXCHANGE AN AVERAGE LIFE FOR GREATER IMPACT

When Gwen Smith says, “I Want It All”, she’s not talking about the things the world offers. She is talking about the joy, grace, love, wisdom, etc., that God offers so that we can join Him in doing an amazing work in the world.

There are three sections–All the Faith, All the Power, All the Impact–including a “For Your Reflection and Response” section that will help you apply what you’ve read to your life.

The book also includes a study guide to help you in your personal study or guide a small group discussion. We are not just ordinary women living ordinary lives–Smith shows us how God’s blessings are ours to receive and will help us join God in His work.

I Want It All is an excellent resource for small groups and for individual study. Smith encourages us to dream our dreams, think
