  • WAS AN OKAY BOOK

I really liked the characters – especially Sondra, the pastor’s wife who felt such pressure to keep up the “I have everything together” routine. She is so worried about tarnishing her husband’s reputation in some way, that she really goes over-board to try and be everything to all people – especially the ladies in her church. She is such a well-rounded character in the book and I really related to her.

  • MOM’S NIGHT OUT…REVIEW

I could relate to Allyson and Sondra in so many ways. My kids are teenagers now and my mothering challenges have changed, but I well remember the haggard days of mothering littles. The story is a bit far-fetched and not quite plausible and I don’t believe that every dad out there is as clueless as these men seemed to be, but the story is endearing. I loved the Christian elements, I loved the focus on motherhood and its importance. The scene with Bones and Allyson in the police station is beautiful as this huge intimidating biker/tattoo artist encourages a harried, doubting young mom.

I haven’t seen the film yet, but it’s at our dollar theater and so my sister and I are going. As far as I can tell, this book is a true to the film novelization and it’s laugh out loud funny.

  • MOMS NIGHT OUT REVIEW

I just finished reading “Moms’ Night Out” by Tricia Goyer and the corresponding “Moms’ Night Out and Other Things I Miss…” by Kerri Pomarolli.

These books are amazing. I really don’t know what else to say about them. If you are a mother of young children, I urge you to grab both of these books as soon as you can get your hot little hands on them. I have yet to see the movie but I can’t wait to see it now that I’ve read the books. The fiction book is hilarious and completely honest. It hits on every feeling most of us mothers have – wanting to put on a facade for others, not being honest with each other, struggling but believing we’re the only one struggling – but puts a humorous twist on everything. The devotions are extremely down-to-earth and pretty quick but very relevant.

  • REVIEW: MOMS’ NIGHT OUT

I love how moms at varying stages – the young single mom, the pastor’s wife with teenager, the always-wanted-to-be-a-mom mom, the got-it-together mom – discover their similarities and blow their façades in this fast-paced adventure. The rapid sequence of events – completely different than originally envisioned – not a moment to catch a breath, just plowing forward as events demand, hoping (and praying) for limited injury and loss of life along the way – that’s exactly what I feel like so often.

  • FUNNY AND REAL

I found myself laughing out loud at several points in the book because I could indeed see this situation unfolding before my eyes. I like that this book touches on the fact that parents don’t always have the answers or have it all together, and yet that is not the most important thing – love and family far outweighs that and is what is truly important.

  • A BLOG TOUR AND REVIEW

Tricia kept the book very much in line with the movie, with a few extras, and it was cute, inspiring and fun. I found myself laughing out loud on more than one occasion, knowing that the various situations are so real, happening to any one of us, on any given day. It was inspiring to know that life happens and yet we are great mom’s that just need time out to recharge and that is okay to admit!

  • MOM’S NIGHT OUT BY TRICIA GOYER

I read this book and saw the movie and absolutely love them both! Tricia Goyer did a wonderful job sticking to the movie. This is one book that resembles the movie very closely, which I’m thankful for!

I found these circumstances hilarious. I had no problem relating to Allyson. I felt like at some times during the story, I was reading about myself and my family! I’ve had that desperation feeling and I’ve had that longing for adult interaction. I’ve also had those planned trips that never turned out like I thought they would.

  • MOMS’ NIGHT OUT NOVELIZATION BY TRICIA GOYER

    It made me laugh.
    It made me relate.
    It made me think.
It truly was like a night out and I grabbed for it when I wanted to laugh and unwind.

I loved the inclusion of Bridget, the single mom. I would of liked to see an older single mom included with Allyson, Sondra and Izzy but at least there was one, even if much younger. Single moms have their own battles that are different than stay-at-home moms, because as much as we want to raise our kids and love them like crazy, we simply can’t stay at home without any income. But besides her, I was able to relate in some part,to every mom in this book. Besides being a lot of fun, it had a great message. I can’t wait to watch the movie, but am pretty sure Tricia Goyer did better on the novelization. Aren’t all books better than the movie, no matter how good the movie is? ;)

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

  • WHAT I’M READING

As for the book, it was a fun read. I took it at face value. It is fiction. And some of us honestly do some days feel a bit trapped. Maybe stuck and tired of the same old laundry and dishes and bath-time…repeat…? lol Do it all for the Lord. Its not so bad then. However if you are just looking for a silly and entertaining read, this is a good book. It is not meant to be other than a story, one that had me giggling quite a bit too. At no time is she encouraging moms to “run away” from their families and go on wild and crazy adventures. It IS a comedy though; perhaps some of us have been there. IN some ways, long ago? And in all of the mess that these ladies make in their night out, there is still such a sweet and true message about the joys and the beauty of being a mom. Inspiring, funny too

  • MOMS’ NIGHT OUT DEVOTIONAL AND NOVELIZATION

As a rule, I don’t like novelizations. I try to avoid them. MOM’S NIGHT OUT is about par for the course. It doesn’t read like a novel, it does read like a novelization. But Tricia Goyer did a good job with it. Some of it was laugh-out-loud funny, and exciting. I actually want to see the movie now, it sounds hilarious.

This is a great portrayal of the crazy life with young kids and clueless men. I actually related most to Sondra as I am that woman. The pastor’s wife with the man who needs me to keep track of where everything is, and a teenage daughter…. But I’ve been in Allyson’s position too. So any mom could relate to this book, whether as Izzy, Sondra, or Allyson.

I do recommend MOM’S NIGHT OUT. I give it 4.5 stars.

This book was hilarious! For the first couple chapters I felt like I was reading pages out of my own life, and all the mishaps that occur as they just try to enjoy an evening out had me laughing out loud. Fiction book always gets high marks from me if it can make me laugh, and this one did.

I loved all the characters in this book, each lovably flawed. I could so relate to Allison, because she keeps trying to make their night fun even when plans start to fall apart, to the point of trying too hard to make it work sometimes (which is probably what I would do). If you want to laugh your head off, be reminded of what a real mom looks like, and get some encouragement and be told that everything is gonna be OK, you will definitely want to read Mom’s Night Out.

I went to go see the movie before I read the book. The book goes right along with the movie. I’m telling you — it is completely light hearted and really gave the inspiration I need as a blogger and as a mom.

I can totally relate to Allison. She is starting a blog and as a mom — she feels like she has nothing to say. I can remember feeling like her in those early years when my kids were little. • A LAUGH OUT LOUD STORY!

Oh my gosh, the laughing I did while reading this one, and after relaying the story to the hubby, he laughed too. He also agreed seeing the movie is a must.
I think many moms, and dads too, will appreciate the real nature behind the parenting in the story. Kids are chaotic, keep you moving and always on the go, keep you on your toes and yet still bring you more joy than anything else. This story really showcases that beautifully and so much more.
Tricia also stays true to her love of God, and shows us why faith can be so important. The messages in this story were received loud and clear.
Sondra is my favorite of the main moms. She tries to be perfect on the outside, all the while screaming inside. When she finally finds her voice it’s truly admirable how she uses it.
I also really liked Bones. He’s the big, scary biker, well, on the outside anyway, but inside he is the softest, nicest and friendliest guy around. Him and the cabbie were kind of heroic at times, and they won me over right away.
A new favorite for me. I’m surprised it can happen but clearly Tricia’s stories just keep getting better for me. Again, I can’t wait to see the movie, which inspired the story.

  • MOM’S NIGHT OUT BY TRICIA GOYER BLOG TOUR & BOOK REVIEW + WIN $200 VISA GIFT CARD!

I know I have mentioned before that I will pretty much read anything that is written by Tricia Goyer, so the fact that she was the one that wrote the novelization further sealed the deal that I had to read this book. I could tell from the very beginning that someone that was a mom wrote this book. There were several instances through the book where I could absolutely relate to all of the moms in this group of friends. I think most mothers will find this book to easy to relate to, laugh out loud funny and heartwarming.

  • WEEKLY REVIEWS

Moms’ Night Out was a great book that happen to fall into my lap this month! It celebrates how everything can go wrong and still turn out all right. “All Allyson and her friends want is a peaceful, grown-up evening of dinner and conversation”. Ha! We should al know that when you have kids, husbands, friends, jobs there is no real “mommy” time. Being a Mom has to be one of the most demanding jobs out there. This book is hilarious and so very true. From the “carpet feelers” of dust to the crazy driving trying to find your children scenes. Adventure is jam packed in this story and I cannot wait to see the film! I was rather shocked I enjoyed this as much as I did. It is definitely for a parent audience.

  • GREAT FOR NON-MOVIE GOERS!

It’s hard to make a novelization of a movie, but Tricia did a great job adding all the important pieces and adding important pieces where needed. Like the part where Bridget realizes that all the women are as eager to find Phoenix as she is and she isn’t alone in this motherhood thing. I totally missed that when I watched the movie.

Reading the novel of MNO was like watching it all over again in my mind. But better. Because, I got a little more out of it due to the skill Tricia had in writing the story.

I did find MOMS’ NIGHT OUT entertaining in a frantic, over the top way. I especially liked Sondra who has spent her entire marriage trying to be the “perfect” pastor’s wife, when being the real Sondra was all she needed to do.

  • MOMS’ NIGHT OUT BY TRICIA GOYER

Like so many other moms, I am my toughest critic. I needed the beautiful reminder in Moms’ Night Out that I am enough, just as I am. It’s time for me to forgive myself for my shortcomings. Doing this doesn’t mean I stop trying to do better in areas that need improvement, but it does mean that God’s love and grace and my family’s willingness to share the journey mean that I can quit beating myself up and live out my days with joy!

I laughed. I nodded in agreement. I cried. I saw myself in Allyson’s shoes. I could be mom they based Allyson off of. Mom, blogger, kids are about the same age, husband gone on business trips, crazy chaos. It’s my life. Ha!

Moms’ Night Out was a humorous look at life as a mom and a reminder that life is not always what it seems. The grass is not always greener on the other side. All moms go through the same struggles, some are just better at faking it better than others.

Surely you’ve heard of the Moms’ Night Out movie by now. I haven’t seen the movie but I read the book and ohmygoodness it was so funny! Tricia Goyer did a great job of writing the story based on the screenplay. I especially liked the role of the pastors wife, she cracked me up and I saw a lot of myself in her. I think every mother could relate to the things in this book.
This was well written and grabbed by attention from the first page. It had me laughing so much that I was afraid I’d fall off of the treadmill (I multitask). It took a little under two hours to read so would make a great vacation book too.

  • MOM’S NIGHT OUT

Tricia does a great job of turning the movie into a book that’s fun to read, but reading the book after watching the movie was a bit tough for me since I already knew everything that was going to happen. The thing I enjoyed most was seeing how Tricia was able to take the way the characters used body language, eye rolls, faces, etc. and describe them just right so someone who had not seen the movie would be able to get the same understanding that moviegoers did. While this is a fun read, I’d suggest either the movie or the book not both.

I appreciate Tricia’s gift of story telling and her novelization of Mom’s Night Out did not disappoint.
Goyer drew a clear picture through her words of the mercy and far-reaching love of Christ not just to overwhelmed mothers but to everyone who calls on Him. She brought the characters to life and reading the book was just as enjoyable as watching the movie if not more.

  • LITFUSE PUBLICITY: MOMS’ NIGHT OUT BY TRICIA GOYER AND MOMS’ NIGHT OUT AND OTHER THINGS I MISS DEVO BY KERRI POMAROLLI #GROW4CHRIST #BOOKREVIEW

Okay, no matter how much I enjoy Tricia Goyer’s books (search my blog, you’ll see) I was a bit skeptical about this book, because, for me I don’t need a “moms’ night out” – I’m simply not a mom who needs a break from my children. That isn’t saying that there are days where I’m frazzled and worn out but I still wouldn’t want to be away from them if I had the choice to stay in and be with them. That said – I’m so glad I read this book! Yes, I’m glad. It had me laughing out loud – not that a high speed chase should be funny but Tricia can make it funny – I’m looking forward to taking my children to see the movie. As I read I would laugh and then find myself having to read segments out loud to my children and my 12 year old is like “that’s just crazy” which is her way……

The books are both incredibly real, which is refreshing, and give hope to all moms! They are also extremely laugh out loud hilarious! But be prepared, as they will touch your heart and make you cry as well. I absolutely loved reading each and every page as they were words I needed desperately to see. Tricia Goyer and Kerri Pomarolli don’t candy coat the beloved, but often challenging, role of mommy hood. They let us know that we’re not alone in our moments of doubt, our episodes of frustration and the days we lose our temper. I felt like I’d been given a big hug when I was done reading!

  • MOM’S NIGHT OUT {THE BOOK & A DEVOTIONAL}

Both the book and movie are full of great humor and even though the circumstances within are a bit far stretched they still remain relatable. More important than the fun and humor is the underlying message of encouragement to moms everywhere, whether your a working mother or a stay at home mother, that YOU are important and what your doing is important! Sometimes us moms just need to be reminded of that truth in the midst of laundry piles, sinks of overflowing dishes, and toilets that need to be cleaned.

I loved this book. Honestly it took me less than a day to read. I found myself chuckling often as I read the sometimes over the top antics that prevailed through the pages. I can’t really put myself completely in the place of the main character. Yes I am at home with my kids all day (I work from home and home-school). However, I have the most amazing husband ever. I never have to worry if I go out and leave the kids at home. To be honest his capabilities blow me out of the water. When I go out he doesn’t ‘babysit’ he’s just being a Dad and he’s awesome at it!

If you are in need of a really good laugh and a few moments to escape stress, this is the book for you. I don’t know a Mom out there that could not relate to much of the craziness of daily life that happens in this book. We all have times when it just seems like too much! In the book the moms get to take that much needed break from daily life and that is when everything goes really crazy.

If you don’t laugh pretty much through the whole book I would be surprised. It really is very funny and although not likely to happen in anyone’s real life, it seems very real! it’s just one nutty thing happening after another and really makes you want to see the movie.

My hat’s perpetually off to Tricia Goyer. I know enough about her to know she’s raised children who are grown, is a grandmother, and then turned around and adopted three more children who are under the age of 5. • REVIEW: MOMS’ NIGHT OUT NOVELIZATION BY TRICIA GOYER AND THE COMPANION DEVOTIONAL

Even though I haven’t seen the movie, I have been enjoying reading the novelization of the Moms Night Out movie by Tricia Goyer while waiting at baseball practices and in doctor’s offices. As I said, I haven’t seen the movie, so I can’t compare it to the novel that Tricia Goyer has written. The book is funny, although a bit exaggerated at times. I’ve had some really bad days. I’ve had some miserable Sunday mornings. I’ve hidden in my closet to devour chocolate. But after parenting 9 kids for 18 years, I still haven’t experienced anything as crazy as Ally, Izzy and Sondra do in one week, let alone in one night. That’s a good thing. As stressed out as I may be, I can tell myself, well at least I haven’t … (no more plot spoilers, I promise).

  • “MOMS’ NIGHT OUT” {A REVIEW}

Moms’ Night Out by Tricia Goyer is by far the funniest book EVER! Two chapters in and I honestly felt like someone had followed me around for material. But then it got better (and not like my life).

Allyson and her friends are in desperate need of a moms’ night out. They arrange for their husband’s to keep their kids and (with a little apprehension) head out for dinner. When things don’t go as planned things get interesting. Bikes, Tattoo parlors, and a police station visit later they all discover something about themselves that they never would have known before.

Reading this book definitely increased my desire to go see the movie (and I am going to see what I can do about that next week). But it also made me realize even more that I am not alone. I am allowed to fail. AND I am the mother that God wanted for my children.

Every mom needs this book. Just for the laugh factor alone but also because they will see themselves in the pages of this book.

And hey- go see the movie!!!!!

I read this book and laughed the whole time. It made me think of my sister and how we try so hard not to forget who we *really* are even though our identities are so tied up in being Mom. Neither the book or the devotional disappointed me. 5 stars. LOVE! I love that Kerri just gets you. She gets the whole mom thing. She gets the need to spend time with Jesus with the hustle and bustle that goes on around us. Simple.

Mom’s Night Out is a great book for any Mom to read and think on. I can’t wait to go see the movie too! The book is a novelization of the movie and I want to see how close the two are. The way this normally goes is that the book is first and then the movie so this is a first for me going the other way! I have to say though of the two books I love the devotional more. This is perfect for the busy mom and the mom who sometimes feels that she needs some time to herself. The best way to centralize ourselves in our own lives is to center ourselves in God first.

Oh my goodness, I don’t think I have ever laughed so much at a book in my life, now I seriously can’t wait to see the movie. This is very humorous story about some of the everyday incidences that can occur with children. I especially liked that Allyson was trying to be a mommy blogger and she finally learned that she did have something to say. I found this to be a very uplifting movie for moms who might be feeling a bit overwelmed and who might view themselves in a negative light, they need to see that they are very important to their children and their husbands.

I began reading the book and on the very first page when Allyson is typing her blog post and is distracted I could completely relate…and began to think about all I had to still do…and then refocused and kept reading! :) This is a book that was fun, so fun to read, but yet thought-provoking as I could relate to so much throughout it and yet also at the same time comforting as I was reminded that I am not alone.

  • JUST A TEENY BIT TOO FAR-FETCHED BUT STILL LOVED

I enjoyed the situational comedy and all of the crazy antics and silly characters like Bones. It was a little bit too much in the ridiculous scenarios that would never really happen. I feel like the first half was pretty true to a mom’s life but then it went a little too far with the tattoo parlor, missing baby and ensuing drama. Don’t get me wrong; I enjoyed the book. But I feel like being based on a movie contributed to some of the far fetched action.

  • “MOMS’ NIGHT OUT” BY TRICIA GOYER & DEVOTIONAL BY KERRI POMAROLLI

Oh my. Everything that could go wrong does go wrong in “Moms’ Night Out”. I don’t know what I cracked-up at more—the cabbie or Bones’ and his Pinterest! Plus, Allyson is a (mommy) blogger!

  • BOOK REVIEW : MOMS’ NIGHT OUT

I loved – loved – loved the book!! It was a quick read, full of comedy and truth! I connected immediately with the characters and found them real and likable. I loved that the main message was delivered by a biker while sitting in a police station. Such a fun story! I think everyone should read this and then go watch the movie!!

  • BOOK REVIEW: MOMS’ NIGHT OUT

What a fun book! I can’t tell you how many times I laughed out loud while reading this. Moms–and dads–will be able to relate to the situations presented in Moms’ Night Out. While the sequence of events were exaggerated to some degree (true to movie-like form), they were also believable. It didn’t take a stretch of the imagination to concede that Murphy’s Law would likely rear its head just when a frazzled mom made plans to relax with friends.

  • TEARS AND LAUGHTER-A HEARTWARMING STORY

I’m one of the “few” moms that haven’t had a chance to see “Mom’s Night Out” so I was excited about the opportunity to read and review the novelization of the movie. Initially, I found myself trying to be as partial as possible, while reading the book and not let myself get “drawn into the hype” that surrounded the book, but as I got deeper into reading the book and wiping away the tears from both the laughter and “I’ve been there” feelings, this is such a breathe of fresh air for moms who do it all and don’t get the breaks.
Tricia really help bring the characters alive and if you haven’t seen the movie yet, I imagine you can capture the same feeling that others are experiencing as they are able to get the time to go out and see the movie, but the book, “Mom’s Night Out” helps…

  • MOM’S NIGHT OUT

Not a fan of movies? This novelization of the Mom’s night out movie was just as funny as the movie. The small devotional guide, “Moms’ Night Out and Other Things I Miss: Devotions To Help You Survive”, will have you laughing at the insane craziness of the author, and shenanigans of her children.
I found myself laughing through it and nodding as she took the extreme circumstances that she has faced in mothering, and hopefully embellished a little to make them more humorous for the audience.

  • MOMS’ NIGHT OUT BY TRICIA GOYER

Learning that life is about your family, your work, being content with who you are, is a huge step. Being happy, peaceful, content with our life is not what we’re taught. We have to enjoy life, not let it drag us down. “No matter who you are, what you do, how far you run. Jesus will always be lovin’ you with His arms open wide. Just for bein’ you.” In God’s eyes we are enough, just the way we are.
