{More about Quilted by Christmas}

New from Abingdon Press’ Quilts of Love series | Quilted by Christmas

A grandmother’s last wish is to communicate God’s love through an Irish chain quilt.

Taryn McKenna believes she’s easy to forget. Abandoned by her parents and left behind when her high school sweetheart joined the army, she vows to never love again and throws herself into her love for the outdoors and the pursuit of a college degree—something no one else in her family has ever accomplished. Her goal, as a young teacher in the hills of North Carolina, is to leave a legacy in the lives of the middle‑schoolers she teaches.

When Taryn’s grandmother Jemma, the only other person who ever held her close, has a heart attack that reveals a fatal medical condition, Taryn is corralled into helping Grandma work on a final project—an Irish chain quilt that tells the story of her history and the love Jemma knows is out there for Taryn. As the pieces of the quilt come together, Taryn begins to see her value. Can she learn to believe that God will never leave her behind even though others have?

Quilts and secrets. Both are tying Taryn up in knots.

She knows that her secret will someday have to be exposed. It’s a secret that will rip her love apart again.

I had to read this book twice. And, yes, I cried both times, so you’d better have that box of tissues nearby as you near the end of this book.

  • I enjoyed this story of faith and heartache.

I love stories about Christmas and about people finding their way through tough situations that are true to life. Nothing is easy or simple or solved right away, these characters work through their issues together and separately finding out who they are and what they really care about, while trusting in their faith.

  • A NEW ADDITION TO THE QUILTS OF LOVE SERIES ~ QUILTED BY CHRISTMAS

I’m excited about being able to share another Quilts of Love Series book. This one is just in time for the holidays too. Quilted by Christmas is another wonderful addition to the series!

The book is a quick read but so enjoyable. All the way through the whole thing there is a large emphasis on God’s forgiveness. The characters are very believable and people you become attached to through the story. The bod with the grandmother is so special and something I can relate to in my life.

The quilt itself was woven into the story in a wonderful way. I loved how it was a big part of the story instead of an add-on.

This is a book I am sure you would enjoy and would make a great gift for Christmas!

  • QUILTED BY CHRISTMAS BY JODY BAILEY

Quilted by Christmas by Jodie Bailey is my most recent read of the Quilts of Love series and it was GREAT!! It’s actually the first book I’ve read by Jodie Bailey.

Jodie’s characters are well written and the story drew me into the book. There were parts of the book that were predictable, but the book was still VERY enjoyable. This book goes right up into the top 10 of the Quilts of Love that I have read. It’s perfect for an afternoon by the fire cuddled up with a warm drink and blanket and it will definitely get you in the mood for Christmas!

This novel drew me in from the very beginning. I think we all can relate to feelings of inadequacy and loss, and Taryn’s story could help you find some comfort. I also like the healing that takes place in Taryn’s life.

This was a cute, quick read. It dealt with some challenging issues and it did not make everything perfect, instead it dealt with real, flawed characters who one could sympathize with. It was a cute story and put one in mood for Christmas. I like the authors style of writing and found this book to be very enjoyable.

  • GREAT HOLIDAY READ!!

This festive book was a great read and I do have to say I was a bit emotional in parts thinking back about the time I had my grandmother here and how truly precious that time was. Jodie Bailey reminds us through Taryn that our actions really do impact those around us and positive actions really do bring out positive results in people!

One of the main things I came away with was the idea that what you say, hurts. We always hear that saying about sticks and stone can hurt but words can’t. This book clearly shows how that is so wrong and what we say does matter, for now and eternity. Words make such a difference!

The characters are very well written. I came away feeling like they were friends I could curl up with on these cold nights. This is the type of book you read when you want a sweet book. It is just that cute and light. Definitely looking out for other books by Jodie Bailey!

  • QUILTS OF LOVE | QUILTED BY CHRISTMAS – BOOK #REVIEW, KINDLE GIVEAWAY & “MERRY QUILTED” FACEBOOK PARTY!

I love Christmas themed books and Quilted by Christmas by Jodie Bailey was amazing! This was a adorable story about a couple that reunites after many years. They have a past they need to work through and they need to trust God and trust in His forgiveness if they can forgive one another. I loved the characters in this book. Justin and Taryn were both likeable. You found yourself routing for them both. I love when there are two strong awesome characters – it makes reading so pleasurable. Bailey really knows how to tell a story – she is new to me but I plan on looking at other books she has written because this one was so wonderful! Last of all the quilt part of the story is weaved in and was the centerpiece of the story. I loved that, too!

  • REVIEWING “QUILTED BY CHRISTMAS”

I am always a fan of books that have quilting themes because I feel that it adds heart and substance to the storyline. I enjoyed the way the author cleverly intertwined the quilting theme throughout the book and I found myself wanting to see the quilts in person. Gifting a quilt to someone is like giving someone a piece of you, and the general theme of quilt gifting in this book is a sweet one. I enjoyed the book and finished it in about a day, so it’s perfect for that plane ride home for the holidays or sitting in front of your fireplace for a couple cozy evenings. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys quilting related books with some romance and a lot of love thrown in.

  • QUITLED BY CHRISTMAS

I really enjoyed this story, and literally, once I started it, I couldn’t put down, I just had to find out what was going to happen with Taryn and Justin. This was a lovely holiday romance that kept me thoroughly entertained. Taryn’s grandmother, Jemma, was a real character, even though she was in the hospital she had more life in her than most people. I really enjoyed the faith element of this book and how close Taryn was with Jemma, it was a very refreshing read indeed.

  • QUILTED BY CHRISTMAS BY JODIE BAILEY (REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY)

A small mountain town in North Carolina. What a perfect setting for a North Carolina gal to read a book about and it is also a charming Christmas read. Gotta be good! So let’s see…..

High school sweethearts Taryn McKenna and Justin Callahan don’t quite make it to the altar. They go their separate ways – Taryn to college and Justin into the military. Twelve years pass. During that period of time the two have lived full lives. Taryn is a school teacher, loved, respected. Justin has returned from honorable military service to take over his father’s construction business.

Into the mix is a beloved grandmother – Jemma. Feisty, hard and robust as mountaineers go, beloved by granddaughter Taryn and Justin as well. But an accident looms and it brings down Jemma and lands her in the hospital.

I have just recently gotten hooked on the Quilts of Love series but I’ve only read 3, this was my third. I love getting to read different authors write stories from all different time periods and areas, and yet they still have the same thing in common, quilts. • LITFUSE PUBLICITY: QUILTED BY CHRISTMAS (QUILTS OF LOVE SERIES) BY JODIE BAILEY

The book is a good example of why “words will never hurt me” is so wrong – words that are spoken in anger and spite and left to fester cause wounds that can’t be seen but must be healed as much as an seen wound. As Justin Callahan arrives on the scene again and back into Taryn’s life she can’t seem to avoid him as her Grandmother keeps hiring to do odd jobs around her house – then Taryn finds the beginning of a quilt – and the mystery begins.

I am so glad to have discovered the writing of Jodie Bailey because I loved everything about Quilted by Christmas and believe all who read it will be blessed. While I’ve enjoyed every book I’ve read in the Quilts of Love series, some stand out for various reasons, and Quilted by Christmas falls into that category for me. With its character-driven narrative, small-town setting, engaging characters, emotional romance and plot, this is a story that pulls at the heartstrings. Jodie is a writer of quality and I would love to see more family relationship stories from her with the same Blue Ridge Mountain setting.

You know it is hard to pick a favorite with these great QOL books. Everytime I read a new one I think this is my favorite. I enjoyed this story so much. It is the first book I have read from this author, and I hope it is not the last one. A great story that we could all relate to. The rejection Taryn had felt all her life was paltable and my heart broke for her every time she replayed scenes of her past during the story. I loved Jemma, she is a fireball and I thought it was a cute nickname for a grandmother. Over all this story was a great read and I highly recommend it as a wonderful holiday story.

  • A BEAUTIFUL CHRISTMAS ROMANCE OF FORGIVENESS, REDEMPTION AND SECOND CHANCES!

Quilted by Christmas from Jodie Bailey takes an Irish Chain Quilt and weaves a story of high school romance that is given an opportunity for a second chance. After reading this one, it makes me want to break out my quilting supplies again while my daughters are still single. This is the story of redemption, forgiveness and second chances which I believe the author expressed beautifully in the characters of Taryn, Justin and Jemma. It outlines in a carefully constructed way the consequences of keeping some secrets that should never be kept. Such a perfect way to spend a cold crisp December evening, curled up by the fire and reading an exceptional romance such as this. A well deserved 5 out of 5 stars.

  • BOOK REVIEW: “QUILTED BY CHRISTMAS” BY JODIE BAILEY

Twelve years before Taryn and Justin had a great relationship but secrets broke them apart. Now Justin is back in town and Jemma, Taryn’s grandmother, knows exactly what to do to get them back together again. “Quilted By Christmas” is all about what happens when we are not open and honest with one another. They cause a great deal of pain and misunderstanding which, of course, gets in the way of the relationship. Ms. Bailey has given us a great deal of story that all works itself out over the creation of the Irish chain quilt. There are moments of great fun and moments of high emotion but through it all there is lots of love. This book will keep you thinking.

  • QUILTS OF LOVE, EVERY QUILT HAS A STORY

When I sat down to read this book, I didn’t realize I would have it finished within three hours! I couldn’t put it down! I loved every second of this book! The author did an amazing job describing the characters and putting you right in the middle of the story. It flowed very easily.

  • QUILT THEMED ROMANCE STITCHED WITH TRUTH

Quilted by Christmas is a charming love story filled with memorable characters, especially Taryn’s feisty grandmother Jemma. Set in North Carolina during the weeks leading up to Christmas, the story brings to light how our decisions can affect our life and those of others for many years to come.

  • A GRANDMOTHER’S LAST WISH

This is a story of second chances, something we all hope we have, especially when our life experiences don’t always turn out to be what we had hoped. Every book in this “Quilts of Love Series” has been such a joy to read. Each has its own message, however a common theme shines through all of them ! There is always hope, forgiveness, love, if only we give God a chance to lead us in our trudge through our daily challenges. This book, by Jodie Bailey, was no disappointment. It involves a very special quilt, as do all the books in the series, but is unique in how the author uses it as a focal point .
A fantastic book of hope and forgiveness that only comes when we trust in the Lord.

  • SWEET CHRISTMAS ROMANCE

Quilted by Christmas is a sweet, two-fold love story. Not only is there the requisite man-woman romance (after all, this is a romance novel), but there’s also the love story between Taryn and the God she thought she drove away. Both love stories are delightful in their own ways.

  • LOVE CAN CONQUER ANYTHING

This is a great story about how love can conquer anything. Love can open up our hearts so we can trust others with our pasts. I really liked the characters and the storyline. This series is not just about threading a needle, but also about the threads of life that make us who we are. This was a great book to get me in the holiday spirit. I am giving this book a 4/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own.

  • FORGIVENESS AT CHRISTMAS

I truly enjoyed this story. The characters felt real, and the situations were believable. The characters’ faith in God was evident, not overly preachy, and was touching. Faith, forgiveness, and resolution all took place in the novel and was weaved along the way effortlessly.

  • PERFECTION!

I am really enjoying this series and the latest installment by Bailey certainly does not disappoint! Quilted By Christmas is a tender story of relationships, mistakes, forgiveness and restoration. Taryn and Justin’s story will take readers on a true journey of introspection.
The characters are genuine and are easy to identify with. I absolutely loved Jemma! Bailey writes in such a way that the emotion jumps off the page and right into readers’ hearts. Bailey captures the restoration and redemption themes clearly through Taryn and Justin’s story and has me ready to celebrate our Savior’s birth in December…the One Who came to restore sinners to Himself.

  • BOOK REVIEW: QUILTED BY CHRISTMAS BY JODIE BAILEY

Quilted by Christmas by Jodie Bailey is a short and sweet novel that brings the magic of the holiday alive within a family and high school romance returned from the grave. Bailey gives readers the chance to learn the meanings of forgiveness in her novel, takes place in small North Carolina mountain town. The first novel I’ve read in the Quilts of Love series, I will be sure to read more of these darling books because Bailey made a strong impression as a storyteller and writer in Quilted by Christmas.

Combinding a spunky grandmother, an army hero, and a sweet high school teacher, Quilted by Christmas is a story of a broken high school romance that is rekindled between a hero’s return, a heroine’s redemption, and a grandmother’s love demonstrated through an Irish chain quilt. Bailey intric

  • QUILTED BY CHRISTMAS BY JODIE BAILEY | QUILTS OF LOVE #22 | STOP #1 OF MY SALUTE TO CHRISTMAS!

Quilted By Christmas is one of those books I just LOVE to read at this time of year.

It always makes – those of us who have struggled with a difficult past – feel better to know that we are NOT alone.

It holds a particularly strong attraction for me since I have been right where Taryn was… OH SO MANY TIMES…

There are very few people in this world who had a “perfect” childhood and even less who don’t at leasy know someone who had a rough time as some point in their life – so I believe almost everyone who reads this book will be able to identify with Taryn in one way or another.

  • BEAUTIFUL STORY OF GRACE

Every character in this beautiful story has something to offer. Learning from one’s mistakes is a tough pill to swallow. Throughout the story, there’s a gentle reminder of God’s grace and forgiveness. This story would be great to read with a teenage daughter. The book is quilted with threads of life, love, and all that gets mixed up with it.

  • QUILTED BY CHRISTMAS BU JODIE BAILEY

What a delightful holiday romance. I loved the idea of a second chance at love after so many years. It was encouraging to read how two people were able to overcome hurts and misunderstanding. It was fun to have a quilt at the center of their reunion. Well crafted characters, including a feisty grandmother, make this a good novel to read for Christmas.

  • I know I said earlier that Rival Hearts was my favorite Quilts of Love book, but I think it might be a tie between these two.

Quilted by Christmas is a heart warming tale of two people with a Past, whose paths cross after a prickly break up 12 years ago. Justin has been off in the military, and Taryn has gone through college and become a teacher. When his first words to her after all that time were “This was a bad idea,” it’s understandable that they continue to be edgy, and tenuous around each other. But he keeps coming around, offering to help with a project Taryn’s grandmother dumps in her lap after she is injured and unable to finish it herself.

Jodie Bailey weaves a tale that made my chest ache. How would things have been different if Taryn and Grandmother had not kept secrets?

  • QUILTED BY CHRISTMAS REVIEW

The story follows Taryn and Justin, who last saw each other as high school sweethearts. Unfortunately, they broke each other’s hearts. Now Justin is back in town and Taryn has a huge secret she’s been hiding from him. Now it turns out that all those years apart haven’t really changed their feelings toward one another.

I enjoyed this book. I thought it was well-written and I enjoyed the characters and the storyline.

  • QUILTED BY CHRISTMAS

This is a wonderful book that is very enjoyable. The characters, I found to be quite lovable. The author wrote relationships between the characters as though they were real. You just wanted to know more about them. Two of the characters, Taryn and Justin were written so well that you wanted to know more about their relationship with each other, their problems and struggles. The book was so realistic. The author introduced a few twists and turns that made you feel that you didn’t want it to end. I loved the way you put the places and settings in, which made the book feel even more real. The faith that the author added to the book is just wonderful. It put the frosting on the cake. KEEP ON WRITING because there is so much more all of us readers want to know. This will definitely go on my book shelf to read again.

  • LOVED THIS BOOK!

This book took me by surprise and I ended up really enjoying it. I’ve read a few of these quilt books and some are great some are just ok. This book is obviously set during the holiday season which adds a certain charm to the story line. Taryn’s life has been flipped upside-down and she has kept a secret for awhile. When her high school sweet heart returns home she is forced to think about the past and realize her own mistakes and forgive not only others but herself. The aspect I liked about this book is that the main character, Taryn, acknowledges that she made choices and understood her part in the pain from the past. She didn’t push all the blame on someone else, nor did she wallow in self pity. I think she was written well and the author created a really good story line.

  • QUILTED BY CHRISTMAS

An angsty romance that kept me squirming right to the very end. In fact, my tummy was in knots for most of the read. Bailey doesn’t play nice with her characters. She ups the tension and twists the plot and stretches the conflict so tight I didn’t see how a happily ever after was possible. She should be reported for cruelty to characters. :-)
