Publishers Weekly:

Trust and betrayal are the themes of Christy Award–winning Kendig’s (Wolfsbane) fast-paced military suspense novel, the first in a new series featuring Capt. Dean Watters and his team. Deployed in Afghanistan, Watters and his team are unstoppable. But Zarah Zarrick, daughter of a retired general and now a Christian missionary teacher of young Afghan girls, is also unstoppable. She has the technical skills the Afghan terrorists covet, and to Watters’s dismay, she trusts that God will protect her. Separately and together, they must learn whom they can trust. As the stakes are raised higher and higher, Zarah and Watters stand against the wiles of terrorists and the skewed values of supposed friends to prove themselves to God, each other, and themselves.

RT Book Reviews:

Raptor 6 is a fast-paced, intriguing novel set in modern-day Afghanistan. The characters are believable, but there are a lot of them [yes, there are!] to keep track of. As the story progresses, readers are continually drawn into the suspense of what is going to happen to Zahrah and Dean and who is behind it all. This first installment of the Quiet Professionals series will leave readers anxious for more.”

Normally, Kendig’s opening scene has you hitting the ground running — and not slowing down until the final chapter! I felt Raptor 6 was a little different than this. It starts with an intense opening scene, but then goes back 6 months and shows how the character got there. But that’s not to say that it was hard to get into or too slow — oh no! There was still TONS of twists and surprises that kept me holding my breath throughout the book!

  • Along with historical, romance, and drama – I also really enjoy action movies and books. Especially when it combines suspense and action with faith and even a little romance.

The realities of military life are not glossed over in this book, neither are the faith struggles that can go along with this reality. Though this is a work of fiction, it still pays tribute to the sacrifices made by our military heroes.

I enjoyed the story line, the characters, the relationships, the suspense (the mole!), the writing – everything! This was my first read by Ronie Kendig but it won’t be my last.

This was different then the books I have been reading and a very nice different. It was good to have a Christian book that dealt with the reality of war. I also loved the added adventure while learning more on the psychosocial aspects of warfare and torture. Not mushy as the background love story builds. I hope so to continue reading this series.

I’m not sure how to describe this book. It’s one of those that has so many layers, once they’re peeled back, more and more appear. It is full of intensely gritty scenes that even though I found difficult to read, I couldn’t stop reading. The prose is mind-blowing and held me hostage from the first page to the last. The intensity of emotion in Raptor 6 tops every one of this author’s other books.

    Every. single. one.

For me, this new series is the best of the best to date from this author and I hope you enjoy reading the novel as much as I did. Again, I came away with an appreciation for the service men and women give to our country along with the sacrifice their families endure. While I read about the hardship of knowing an enemy, figuring out who is in the shadows seems much more dangerous, especially when there is a plethora of possible antagonists. Make time to read, share and enjoy the first book in her latest series, you won’t regret it!

When I heard about this book I was excited, but expecting the same old story. Girl meets soldier, girl falls in love, soldier leaves for active duty…

Raptor 6 was NOT that book. What I really enjoyed about this book was how much it centered on Dean Watters… it did not tiptoe around anything. It presented an authentic story.

I have a nasty habit of reading the end of a book before the beginning. It happens most often when I am really bored with a book and I want to get it over, or when I am so into a book that I can’t wait to read what happens. This book, was one of the latter. I wanted to know, so badly, what happens to Dean and Zahrah… I then went back and started the book over and still loved it.

I can’t wait to read the next story in the series!

Kendig holds nothing back in this novel. Not only is it an entertaining ride, it will also stretch you as a reader. Some parts are gritty, raw, and uncomfortable. But it’s war, and Kendig isn’t afraid to reveal it in its injustice, horror toward females, and the desperate need to hail our American heroes for the sacrifices they make.

Raptor 6 is a salute to our nation’s heroes and to the men and women who fight for our country behind-the-scenes with no pomp nor circumstance. SALUTE!

  • Ronie has created an incredible cast of characters for this novel. She has a marvelous talent for describing surroundings and action that put me in the middle of things. The plot was very carefully woven with enough twists to keep me guessing as to where it was going.

I’m looking forward to finding out the next segment of the overall story in the next book of this series.

It is a job well done and definitely deserving of 5 stars. I highly recommend this book.

Ronie Kendig writes with a passion for Special Forces and their cause without reservation or apology. While some of the foreign language words and phrases are difficult to grasp at first, and with no a glossary dedicated only to military terminology and acronymns, it was a bit difficult for me to get a handle on some of the communication. However, the context eventually sorted it out for me; it just takes a little work. Which compels the dedicated reader that much further into the book. With Ronie Kendig at the helm – is this really a bad thing?

5 stars for Special Ops action, suspense and a passion for others by Ronie Kendig!

While I have a great variety of literary genres in my personal library, I never thought Christian Military would be one of them. That is, until I began reading novels from author, Ronie Kendig. This is a whirlwind book. You never really know what is going to happen next. I’m not a huge fan or war/military books because it’s not something I’m familiar with. It’s a whole new world to me. I did, however, enjoy this book. It is full of suspense and intrigue. The first few pages take you from modern day to back in time. That confused me a bit. Though it also made me want to really read fast to go find out why this guy and this girl were captured and what had happened. If you like suspenseful books, Raptor 6 is for you!

We owe more than we know to the men of our Special Forces . This is a story of one of the kind of missions that they perform to help defend the United States. Zahrah is a woman who is at the mercy of men who wish to hack into the U.S. Military’s Intelligence Computers. The horrible decision that she must make will decide the future of others as well as her own. The question is. can she hold them off for enough time to save America. The author has written a book that will leave with breathless with fear. I give this book a 4/5. I was given this book by The Litfuse Publicity Group and all opinions are my own.

This book was a little different story than the one I usually read. But as I read more into the book I realized that it really was a good well written story. This has a continual mix of thriller, romance, terror and faith. I was totally in awe of the kind of job that The Special Forces do. Zahrah Zerrick is the kind of woman that knew how to be strong and help others even at the cost of her own life. –

Before you begin this novel, a warning! You won’t be able to put it down once you start, so you need to set aside some time where you won’t be disturbed. Chores won’t get done, dinner will be late, and the phone will have to wait until you get to the last page. The action is fast paced and does not stop until the final page, leaving you breathless wondering how it will all play out. For me, personally, this is one of Ronie’s best novels to date and I can’t wait to go back on tour with the Raptor 6 team! Hands down a well earned 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion and a MUST READ for fans of Special Forces fiction!!! I can only pray someone will make a movie out of this novel!

Raptor 6 was a great read! Packed with a ton of suspense and danger, there were several scenes that had me “on the edge” of my seat.

The story starts with an intense first chapter and then the story jumps back in time 6 months (to show what led up to that event), so we don’t get to find out what happens next until near the end of the book. It was an interesting beginning and definitely grabbed my attention, even though I’m not typically a huge fan of this type of opening.

I loved the characters and how believable the things that happened to them were (things were definitely not sugarcoated!). I couldn’t help but feel for them and got teary-eyed during parts of the story…the things they went through were terrible!

Kendig has written a fast paced military novel that grabs you on the very first page and doesn’t let go until the last! Warning: Don’t start this one before bed, because you won’t get any sleep until you finish the book! Even if military novels aren’t your “thing”, they will be after reading this one!
I appreciate the sensitivity to present military personnel with which Ms Kendig writes. She includes character sketches and a glossary of military terms that make reading the book a bit easier. In the end, through Dean’s character, Kendig pays great honor to our military men and women and the many times grave sacrifices they make to serve our country. This is an interesting story that is centered around a Green Beret Special Forces team. The team is working in Afghanistan. The author did a great job in making the action of the story feel very real. She even helped describe what life is like there and the tensions between Afghan people and American soldiers.

The plot centers around the theft of a super computer that contains information that can be used to bring down the American military and wreak havoc on the nation. A half American half Afghan woman who is the daughter of a retired American General is kidnapped. She has the expertise to hack into the stolen computer, and her captors will stop at nothing to get her to give them access to the computer. There is a love story between the leader of the Special Forces team and this woman.

  • Raptor 6 is a fast-paced, intense military thriller with a Christian theme to it, as well as a little romance. Ronie Kendig is a talented writer and she avoids all the typical character cliches; giving each character natural flaws, making them more believable. For me, the more realistic a character is, the more chance that I’m going to connect with them and whatever situation they are in. Overall, Raptor 6 is a well-crafted page-turner that I highly enjoyed reading and I’m looking forward to reading the upcoming second installment, Hawk.

Raptor 6 was an intriguing, enjoyable ride, with an interesting plot full of action, Christian thought, and romance. While Kendig made herculean efforts to tone down the expected foul language from the military, there were plenty of difficult issues that were addressed without alot of sugar coating. There were numerous times that I was surprised at some of the choices Kendig was making. These scenes are not the typical ones you might find in the standard Christian novel. She made some tough choices as her characters endured hardship and pain. God’s will is called into question. I was very impressed that she took such a hard-hitting, authentic approach to these moments. Raptor 6 is a commendable beginning to an exciting new series, “The Quiet Professionals”.

Raptor 6 grabs you from the first page and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end.

I thought that once I had read The Discarded Heroes series by Ms. Kendig, that nothing would be able to top it.Boy was I WRONG!(Thank goodness!) Action around every turned page, and the reality of the men and women that are currently deployed facing the risks and challenges that were throughout this story gave me a whole new appreciation for those wearing a uniform.

Having to constantly be on guard and ten steps ahead of your opponent actually caused me a little bit of anxiety as I felt the helplessness/hopelessness of the characters.

If you enjoy action and suspense, with a hint of romance, then this is the book for you!

Hackers, military computers and potential global terror these are just some of the elements the Raptor team has to deal with. And they have to deal with it in war-torn Afganistan. Not only are they up against a clever enemy they have to find and protect Zahrah while trying to keep alive. I started reading “Raptor 6″ already on the edge of my seat and Ms. Kendig did her level best to keep me there. This is a thriller as all the heroes lives are in great peril. On top of everything “Raptor 6″ is also a romance. Nail biting suspense in a wonderful page turner that will keep you up late at night. I am so looking forward to the next book in this series.

I just finished reading “Raptor 6″ by Ronie Kendig. I have to admit this is probably the first book of this type I have read. It took me a while to get into, to be honest. It is a military/action/thriller novel and I didn’t understand a lot of the setup that went on in the first half of the book. But by the second half, I was hooked. I was really understanding the plot and the details of the mission.

I think this book was very well-written and the story really did grab me after I understood the military side of it. This is the first book in a series, and now that I’ve read it I would be very interested to read the rest of the series. I recommend this book if you like stories in this genre.

Ok, full disclosure, get ready for some gushing! Now to figure out where to begin!
So if you couldn’t figure it out from that first line, I loved this book! Not that I was shocked by that since I’ve loved every Ronie Kendig novel out there! After meeting Dean Watters in some of Ronie’s previous books I was so excited to get his story, and man was it a good one!
Dean was a fantastic hero! I loved the way he was determined to do what was right and to protect others even if it cost him his life. He also had amazing leadership skills, knowing when to join in the fun and when to stop it, or when correction was needed, or an encouraging word was needed. I could not believe all the things he’d lived through in his past! It was so horrible and almost brought me to tears!

Raptor 6 is a book you will want to carve some time out of your day for as once you enter into the story it is extremely difficult to put down. I actually began reading my copy on my lunch hour and got so involved that I was almost late coming back from lunch.

Ms. Kendig has a knack for writing military novels depicting strong, believable characters. They pull you in and hold you captive in their world and while Raptor 6 is about the world at war, I didn’t want to leave.

This is an exceptionally well written military novel that I would highly recommend to anyone who love a fast paced adventure novel.

Once again, the author has brought us a story that is so authentic and makes you feel like you are really right there in the action. She has set up such a great start for what promises to be a very exciting series, full of complex team members and intensely dangerous missions.

I love that I can pick up one of Ronie Kendig’s books and immerse myself in a totally unique experience, full of danger, heroes, and the military. I can’t wait for the next book!

From the first page to the very last page of Raptor 6, Ronie Kendig keeps the action going at a very intense level. The details are not all pretty or pleasant, but they are extremely engaging and intriguing. I was appreciative of the list of acronyms at the beginning of the book and referred to them frequently to better understand the workings of the special forces and their operations.

I would think that a wide variety of readers could enjoy this story. From exciting military action, to an enjoyable level of romance, all infused with a healthy dose of faith, there is something for almost everyone. The story was not a quick, easy read but was definitely worth sticking with.

  • RAPTOR 6

Ronie Kendig is known for “Rapid-Fire Fiction,” so when I picked up Raptor 6, the first of her novels I’ve read, I expected to immediately be swept into an action-packed thrill ride. That’s not quite what happened. The novel does start out with a bang, but then things progress rather slowly as Kendig introduces characters and sets things up. But once the plot really begins rolling—probably about 60 pages in—it fires on all cylinders!

“Raptor 6” by Ronie Kendig was tough to get into – but that’s a good thing. This novel took off at a run from page one and it took me a few chapters to catch up. Luckily, the chapters are short, so page-wise, I wasn’t lost for very long. And once I did catch up with the story, I was hooked on this grown up military suspense read. I was also captivated by the undercurrent of Christian romance in this gritty novel.

The interaction of the main characters and the faith displayed by them has led me to pray that I would trust in and rely on God more than I would my husband or others I’ve become dependent upon.

Ronie has really upped the ante with “Raptor 6″. I promise you, her books just keep getting better with each one published.

As a military suspense, “Raptor 6″ is top notch. Heart-stopping scenes had me holding my breath – afraid to keep reading but unable to stop. I knew that everything would probably work out just fine at the end . . . but would it? The perfectly paced plot keep me turning the pages (and losing sleep) until I reached the end.

Going into this, I think I had very different expectations than what the story actually ended up resembling. Unlike Ronie’s prior works, this book is more about information gathering than actionable “excitement” – or the kind of breath-catching exploits that lead the heroes into danger around every corner. To be honest, it took me until ¼ the way in before I really washooked. Oh, there was nothing bad or uninteresting about the story, I just had to pause and realize that under her skillful hand, Ronie was taking a different direction with this first book in her brand-new series.

I have to admit to you, this was a pretty intense book and one that might not appeal to a lot of people, but I was raised as a military brat since my Dad was in the Army for 22 years, so I like reading about our soldiers from time to time and will watch war movies a good bit because Dad watched them a lot and it just got to be a part of my life.

This war is so very different than the one Dad was in while stationed in Korea and with a whole new ballgame of enemies that don’t play by the war book. So, there is some torture scenes that are a little messy and queasy but no worse in description than some serial killer books I have read.

This is a good solid story with God in the forefront of Zahrah’s reason for going to Afghanistan & trying to help these women & children.

I love Ronie Kendig’s writing. Her characters and story lines are all realistic, and she treats our men and women in the military with respect. No, she doesn’t make them super human characters who can do no wrong. She shows how normal people set aside their own hopes and dreams to fight for their country. I highly recommend this, and all of her books, to anyone who enjoys military fiction. You won’t be disappointed.

From page one, Ronie Kendig’s latest story takes off and doesn’t look back. In Raptor 6, the first in her new Quiet Professionals series about the Special Forces, we’re immediately thrust into the volatile world of international conflict. (Disclaimer: I received an e-copy of the book from Litfuse Publicity Group in exchange for my review.)

Kendig drops us into the action, then takes us back a few months to where the story begins. I like this method of storytelling because it gives me a hint of where we’re going. Although after a few chapters, I forgot what I’d read in the beginning because I was so caught up in the plot.

Raptor 6 takes you on a roller coaster ride of terror with increasing levels of romance, suspense, and intrigue. From Islamic terrorists to missionary teachers, Kendig will keep you guessing while keeping the action level high. If you’re a fan of Dee Henderson, you won’t want to miss this new series.

From the very first page the flow and sequence of words clues you in that there’s high drama and intense action. Although you quickly flash back in time to pick up the story from it’s starting point, the action level never dips low.

She quickly became one of my favorite authors, and I have devoured and enjoyed everything she has written, and she just keeps getting better and better with each book she writes.

This high stakes thriller is the beginning of a new series by Ronie Kendig and it promises to be amazing. I enjoyed the look into life in Afghanistan, both from Zarrah’s viewpoint and from the standpoint of the Special Forces stationed there. It’s definitely a different setting for a book than I usually read. It was exciting and thought provoking. There’s a strong message about surrendering all to God that’s expertly woven into the story that’s I appreciated as well.

…Kendig has a way to keep the story fast-paced, but not at the expense of each of the character’s story, all the developments and the heart of the novel. She knows her military – the good, the bad, the ugly. There’s plenty of mystery and action too. She manages to get your heart attached to the characters, root for their romance, get nervous (i.e. bite your nails off) waiting to see what will happen and close the last page while eagerly awaiting the next in the series…

    Ronie Kendig is a skillful writer in using her military upbringing to show us that the lives of these great men and women are just like ours. They face the same feelings we do. I loved the way she weaves what most see as coincidences of meetings and chance happenings into a story that shows God’s divine purpose in our lives. Her main characters, the dashing Captain Dean Watters and missionary school teacher Zahrah Zarrick are brought together in the war zone of Afghanistan of all places. Unaware that their lives are now intertwined as well as their hearts. While trying to keep Zahrah safe and out of harms way she is suddenly taken hostage. Dean and his team must then rescue her and stop computer hackers from finding and releasing military information before it is too late. From the first chapter till the end I was hooked. This is the first Military fiction that I have read and I plan on reading many more of her books. Great story…a must read…{I feel it helped me make a better connection to my son-in-law who served in Afghanistan, reading the names of places he too had been.}

I had high expectations from this book, as Ronie Kendig is one of my favorite authors, and I was not disappointed at all.

There was non-stop action throughout, with a great fast-paced plot, with quick moving chapters making this book both easy and impossible to put down–I realize that makes very little sense, but it’s true.

The characters were well written and developed over the course of the book, I really though that Zarah was very admirable, because even in chaos, not understanding what was going on she put others first when she would have had every reason to worry about herself.

Overall, this was an excellent action adventure, military thriller, filled with admirable characters and plenty of action and plot twists, none of which do I want to share with you. Fantastic read!
