  • Although romance isn’t normally my favorite type of book to read, this one was truly adorable. The short story format really eliminated the extraneous fluff that I normally despise in romance novels. The characters are so tight-knit that the flow from one story to the next was very fluid. I loved the way that each story highlighted a different character, yet the entire book was blend of each story. Smitten is the kind of small town that I’d love to visit.

  • This is the first book I have written that was written by different authors and I really liked it. I fell in love with all of the characters and I was sad when the book ended.

  • Be ready for some delightful family dinners, and loving people who are their for each other. Three generations of Woman!!
Once you start you won’t be able to put this one down, I read it in one day! This is the second book in this series, I do recommend you read the first, but it is not necessary.
What a joy this book was. I loved it!!
We visit this wonderful romantic town in Vermont, and hear about some of our old friends, but this is 5 new romances. Yes five!!

  • Fun, that is what this book is. I love all four authors and the fact that they put this together. Love stories have to have realistic characters and story lines to get my attention. This book definitely did that. If you enjoy a good love story once in a while or all the time,

  • I was a huge fan of Smitten which was the first book in this series and was so excited for this book to come out. The terrific thing is that you don’t need to read the first book to enjoy Secretly Smitten but it does make it even more fun if you have. I love how this book is written by four authors. Each author tackles one female character in the story. Each character has a story all their own but are also tied together with an amazing and romantic back story. I fell in love with each of the ladies in this book. It is fun to see how different personalities respond to love.

  • I love that this story (four novellas) is written by four different writers! It makes for a wonderful read! The characters in each of the stories are very believable and compliment each other nicely. I found each story to be well thought out with a few twists and turns to keep me interested!

  • I enjoyed reading of how the four sisters along with their mother would meet up every Sunday in their grandmothers home for Sunday lunch along with their great- aunts. It is family tradition that has withstood the test of time and even hardships and betrayal.

Although I did enjoy the book and I finished reading in about three days I would have loved to see the characters be developed a bit more. For example, the first love story begins with Tess. I would have enjoyed reading more of who she was and how her relationship with Ryan evolved.

All in all I did enjoy the book.

  • I recently read “Smitten” and am glad that I did because I was already in love with the town of Smitten before I started “Secretly Smitten”. I learned how the town had been transformed from a manly logging town to a romance destination. So fun!

This book featured 4 more of the women of Smitten as well as an older generation of Smitten women. I love how the mystery of the dogtags is woven throughout all the stories and ended so romantically just as it should :)

  • It was interesting to see how each writer took a different character and told their story to add to the enjoyment of the overall book.

  • “Secretly Smitten” is written by four different authors and provides readers with four different tales of romance. Short and sweet, each story flows well, and gives a few twists that held my attention.. I enjoyed watching each sister get their own happily ever after, but my favorite story actually belonged to Anna their mother, who owned the Sit ‘n Knit yarn shop.I enjoyed the setting of the store, the descriptions of the yarn and clanking knitting needles. I thought the characters of Anna and Michael were very well done, and I always enjoy reading about second chances at love.

  • Secretly Smitten is a sequel to the book Smitten, takes place in the town of Vermont and we get four super awesome romances written by four wonderful authors! I love all four of these novellas and thoroughly enjoyed the characters, the difficulties, the working through their problems and the sweet romances throughout this book. Each story can easily be read in one setting, but you will find it difficult to put the book down when you start reading!

If you enjoy Christian romance stories, then this book is a must for you! It will be well worth your investment. Pick up your copy today!

  • This book has four novella’s in it. I must be very honest with you they were good but Love Blooms was great it was the best of the four and I was so excited to read it. I LOVE Denise Hunter and she has never wrote a bad book. You will not be able to put down Love Blooms . You will be so wrapped up in Denise’s novella you be very happy you bought this book for her story alone.
I am sure that you will be smitten with this book so hop on over to amazon and pick up a copy and jump right in to this 4 star book!

I was given a copy by the publisher

  • Do you like stories that are short and sweet with a little bit of mystery and humor and a whole lot of romance? Then you should check out the 4 novella collection in Secretly Smitten, book 2 in the Smitten series. Although each section is written by a different author, the charming setting, the uniting plot lines and the consistent characterizations make it feel like it could be one novel. I enjoyed Secretly Smitten. It was a quick, fresh read that satisfied my craving for a little sweet romance.

  • Secretly Smitten is another book that piqued my interest just from the cover!

Secretly Smitten is four short novels in one. All four are related and go in order. All four are written by four different women. This book was a very fun and light read. A little mystery and a little romance. All authors brought the characters, Tess, Zoe, Clare and Anna to life showcasing their lives and new found loves. Written by four authors, Colleen Coble, Kristen Billerbeck, Diann Hunt and Denise Hunter who are all Best Friends in real life! Each woman tells a different character’s story, but they are all blended together perfectly!!

  • This book was really good. It is a book of four novellas by real life best friends Colleen Coble, Kristen Billerbeck, Diann Hunt, and Denise Hunter. What makes it so good and unique is that, even though, they are seperate novellas, they all intertwine.

  • What a fun New England treat. The only thing missing was some yummy maple syrup and biscuits to enjoy while reading it. If your looking for a lighthearted, fun, read this winter than grab a copy for yourself!

  • Just when I thought I liked one better than the other, I was wooed into the pages by sweeping stories and the hope that comes along like it is a Hallmark movie (which, by the way this would make an amazing movie).

  • This is my first time reading a novella and this book is four novellas in one. Each written by a different author who happen to be best friends. Each story flowed from one to the next. The authors draw you in to the town of Smitten and the family and how they each found love. It was a quick read and one I was happy to have read. I really enjoyed this novella!

  • Welcome all to the romantic capital of the world, Smitten Vermont! In this small cozy town you’ll find that love changes everything. We experience five romance, yes five tales of love and mystery!

After reading the blurb of the book I was immediately drawn to it. Secrets in grandma’s attic, a forgotten set of dog tags, three young woman in search of love, are all things that will certainly pique your curiosity.

  • Smitten, Vermont, is where all four stories take place and with each story I fell a little more in love with the town as I was introduced to more businesses and people that call Smitten their home. I honestly can’t say enough good things about this wonderful collection of stories. I certainly hope we haven’t seen the last of Smitten from the lovely Colleen Coble, Kristin Billerbeck, Denise Hunter, and Diann Hunt!

  • I love how real the characters are and the way I want to join them at Mountain Perks for a good conversation and update on their romantic adventures. The stories tie together and bring back characters I came to love in the first collection. Because there are four novellas in this book, each can be read in a long sitting and it’s the perfect book to take along on a spring break trip. Easy to put down when you need to do something else, but also engaging enough, you’ll want to return often to this delightful town.

  • Amanda says:

I felt like not only was I learning about the characters themselves, but gaining a glimpse into my favorite author’s heads. Coble, Billerbeck, Hunter, and Hunt are a team to be reckoned with and have created a book that is a delight to read. The stories, while short, are well written, the characters are well-rounded.

  • Secretly Smitten is a collaborative novel by four authors who happen to be friends in real life. I have to give the authors a lot of credit because they did an excellent job with each story and the transition between stories was flawless. Their writing was very similar, so it was hard to pick which one was my favorite.

While I loved all of the couples, I think that Anna’s was the one I loved the most, with Tess being a close second. Anna and Michael were so cute together. I loved the scene in the barn. Even though the couple is older, they acted like 2 young teens finding love for first time. Tess’s story was the easiest in which to relate.

  • What is the next best thing to a new novel by one of your favorite authors? How about a collaboration between four of them? Yes, four of my favorite authors have once again joined forces to take their readers back to the picturesque and romantic Vermont town of Smitten. Even its name breathes romance doesn’t it? Each author has contributed a separate novella featuring one of the three Thomas sisters and their mother Anna. Although individual stories could stand alone, each one flows into the other seamlessly to provide a bigger overall picture of life in the Thomas family and Smitten. Once again I was majorly impressed at how well these authors worked together to provide such a flawless combined story.

  • The first ‘book’ called “Love Between the Lines” by Colleen Coble was my favorite part. The way the author described a love that was lost and the excitement between the granddaughters it was as if it were my own family. It was an easy read. The story was engaging and I longed to know more about the grandmother and her true love who was lost in the war. By the next story you can see the theme of the book. Each ‘book’ written from a different perspective also gives you a glimpse into another person’s life, the grandchildren. There was little mention of the grandmother and the love, which was a bit of a disappointment. It did pick back up again by ‘book’ 3 and the ending of the last ‘book.’ I don’t want to give much away because I honestly feel that any book lover will enjoy this gem. It was

  • I loved the first Smitten book, but this one is much, much better! The common theme in each of the stories – besides love, of course – is a history-mystery-romance, brought into the modern day and just begging to be solved. There’s nothing I like better than when characters stumble upon a long-lost love and have to decide how – and if – they should investigate.

Written by four authors who just happen to be best friends, these stories are woven seamlessly to create one large book, spanning a year in the life of Smitten residents. The way that each story began in the one prior and then continued on throughout the others really made this book feel like one large novel. That’s probably my next favorite thing about it.

When a book is really well written, you fall in love with the characters.

  • Be ready for some delightful family dinners, and loving people who are there for each other. Three generations of beautiful ladies!

Plenty of humor, action, drama, mystery, and of course romance, blend perfectly together to make “Secretly Smitten” the ideal reading material for the winter.

Once you start you won’t be able to put this one down, I read it in one day! This is the second book in this series, I do recommend you read the first, but it is not necessary.

  • A New Leaf says:

I.loved.this.book. The four stories by four different authors are expertly woven together. I loved the story arc of Rose’s long-lost love. That plot line propelled me to read this entire book as quickly as I could, while still savoring the other plot lines, so I could find out what happened in the end.

  • This story was really cute and I loved watching each woman fall in love when they thought love would never happen! The story of the grandmother and her long lost love was an added bonus to this book and it added a little historical element as well!

This book was really well-written, had me reading continuously, and I just couldn’t put it down (read it all in one day, in fact!) I definitely recommend this uniquely written romance fiction book written by four friends that are very good authors as well!

  • This is a great book! I love how four authors can create one great story! This is a great story about love and family! I finished it rather quickly because I could not put it down! The characters are all so well put together, you feel like a part of the story! A great book to curl up to this winter!

  • This was a delightlful collection of stories and I loved how all of the main characters from each of the stories really interacted with each other throughout all of the stories, because they are all a family so it was like a whole inter-connected series in one volume!

  • The stories were light and airy much like a cream puff and I found them quite charming. Smitten sounds like a delightful little town that I think all of us would like to visit but too much sugar is bad for us if you know what I mean. I found myself smiling through the romances and curious ’til the end as to the whys and what/fors of the big mystery. The book is a fun, easy read and I was glad to have been Smitten.

  • Each author has written one of the four stories, which are somewhat interlocked to each other. Each story is under100 pages, making it a fast read for romance fiction readers. The stories are cute, leaving me with a smile on my face long after I read the final sentence. Smitten has wonderful plots, witty dialogue and likeable characters that should satisfy all romance readers.

  • Secretly Smitten is pure fun. There’s nothing too serious about it, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want in a book!

  • Secretly Smitten is a fun, light romance that will leave you feeling good. Although the book is made up of four stories written by four different authors, the pieces flow together into one well-connected story. I don’t believe I would have known there were different authors if no one had told me. . .

One of the most intriguing aspects of the book is how each section has a different main character, but the whole cast keeps showing up. And the family mystery that flows from decades ago to the present is an important, yet sometimes subtle, thread that ties it all together.

  • I definitely recommend this book. The odds of four women in a village each meeting the man of their dreams are not good but for many reasons the book is definitely worth reading. It’s the kind of book to read by a warm fire with a hot cup of tea.

  • Collen Coble, Kristin Billerbeck, Diann Hunt, and Denise Hunter each deliver a great story and manage to fit those stories together as smoothly as pieces in a puzzle.

  • My favorite part of the stories is the ongoing story of David Hutchins, declared dead during the war. and the mystery of how his dogtags ended up in the attic. Each story was great, featuring a different member of the family, I loved them all. Great collective work by four great authors. I won’t pick a favorite story because they all were great and I liked each one for different reasons!

  • One book I know I will keep for a long time is Secretly Smitten. It is a collaboration work by Colleen Coble, Kristen Billerbeck, Diann Hunt , and Denise Hunter. As soon as I saw who the authors were I knew I would love it.

The book is a fun and easy read. The characters just grab you and make you want to be a part of their lives. The whole way through as each section built on the next I could not wait to see what happened. The story is divided into 4 sections, each being written by one of the authors. I was thrilled at how well each of them built of the last and how well they blended, that and it is set in a small town some of you may already be familiar with, Smitten, Vermont!

The mystery that unfolds with the finding of old dog tags and how the 3 sisters work to bring together their grandmother and her old beau is so sweet! Believe me your heart will be tugged on over and over and the surprises are so worth the read!

  • What a strange and cool idea for a book. This book was written by 4 authors. It is like a series of 4 books, and each book is written by a different author. Each book is a short book, and can be read quite quickly and easily. Apparently there is a previous set of the same type of stories about the same town. I have to admit I am interested in reading them now. I love how the authors styles mesh well, and there isn`t a real disconnect between the stories.

  • My personal favorite aspect of this story is the long abandoned romance between the sisters grandmother and her solider beau. Thought to have never returned from the war, when they find a set of mystery dog tags in the attic, the search for their grandmother’s unknown love affair begins.

The women learn that when you put God first in your relationships, He will bless you and the ones you love.

If you enjoy fast paced, cheerful romance you will love Secretly Smitten.

  • Excellent book with great characters!! A sweet story and this book flowed like you wouldn’t expect having four different authors. Beautiful romances for them all:)

  • If you haven’t ever read one or any of these Authors, this is a FABULOUS way to introduce yourself to them! Now then, if you are familiar with them, you know how awesome their books are, right?!!!! Well, these BFF’s have done an AMAZING job writing 4 novella’s and making the stories flow from one to the other just perfectly!
I just love it when someone has pretty much given up on love, and then suddenly, they find themselves falling, and falling hard, don’t you!?!? Well in Smitten Vermont, love & mystery are in the air and the Thomas sisters are hard at work hoping to solve the mystery and to prove, it is never too late for love. But as each sister will find out, love can come when you least expect it and in ways you never could have imagined!
Smitten is a cozy town filled with such precious people! I would love to just pick up and move there and you might just be ready to do the same after you read Secretly Smitten!

  • The authors worked these characters together like they were at a quilting bee adding their special pieces to create a mystery family quilt and then adding their fine stitches to top it off and rounding it off by starting and ending with Grandma Rose. All pieces are original. Making this book a keepsake for me and other readers.

Please don’t ask who was my favorite character or my favorite author. It’s my secret!

I have several daughters and granddaughters and will pass this book to them. I am sure it will warm their hearts as well. I found the mystery of this book to be LOVE.

  • In all of these stories of love lost and love found, we see how God is working in these women’s lives. There is the story of forgiveness when one person has betrayed another, the trusting of God to see them through new situations in their life, the prodigal son, and how we need to live our lives for God first and trust Him to lead us the right way.
This was an excellent story that I read in one sitting. I just couldn’t put it down. I loved how the Lord was woven through the story in a real way in these people’s lives. I loved seeing the characters grow through uncomfortable situations and trust the Lord as they took steps of faith. Really a lovely book that I highly recommend.

  • Secretly Smitten was a fun book. It centers around the Thomas family of Smitten, Vermont-an idyllic little town where everyone knows each other. Each of the four stories are intertwined, yet have their own focus of a different main character. There is a mystery that continues throughout all four stories. The stories are romantic, fun, and have characters that feel like they could be part of your family. I really couldn’t pick a favorite of the four stories, they were all great. I want to move to Smitten now!

  • Here are four stories in one book yet each story builds on the one before it. So in the whole it is the story continued til the finish. Perfect! Colleen Coble, Kristin Billerbeck, Diann Hunt, and Denise Hunter are the four authors who worked this magic. In Secretly Smitten you meet Grandma Rose, her daughter Anna and her three granddaughters Tess, Zoe and Clare. Each book tells the story of one of the granddaughters and their mother. But the book as a whole tells the story of Grandma Rose. You get mystery, romance, some silliness and a good deal down home advice via the town folk of Smitten, Vermont. I am telling you this is one northern place I would wanna visit. It just sounds like a lovely lil country town that is trying hard to stay active in this busy world.

  • “Secretly Smitten” is written by four different authors and provides readers with four different tales of romance with a dash of mystery thrown in for good measure. Short and sweet, each sister’s story flows well into the next one, and with a few twists that really hold a reader’s interest and attention.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it!

  • Once again we fall in love with the town of Smitten and its people and wish there really were such a place to visit. It really is a terrific idea that these four friends had when they created this town that it is so easy to fall in love in. Technically, “Secretly Smitten” is one story that lasts a whole year told through the lives of the four women. So that means we get four tales of romance as we watch the town change and grow. All four authors know how to write characters that come alive off the page. While the stories focus on Anna and her three daughters the real mystery is with Grandma Rose and the dog-tags. Great storytelling, mystery and romance, what more could you ask for? I know: one more sequel! I recommend this book highly!

  • I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Anna, Tess, Zoe and Clare Thomas. Their stories are unique and heartwarming but also filled with real life frustrations and worries. God is who they turn to when frustrated/upset and I found this truly refreshing. Colleen Coble, Kristin Billerback, Diann Hunt and Denise Hunter have created a delightful patchwork of characters that made me laugh and even cry! I was drawn to Tess most of all as I saw much of myself in her. She’s insecure about her looks, is overly sensitive at times and a bit “chubby”.:) She also loves books and has a big heart (I think Colleen Coble reads my blog- lol!) I think her story was my favorite, although each one was wonderful. The sisters are as different as the colors of the rainbow and yet they all shine in their own way.

  • What a treat, this second book about Smitten, Vermont. And you certainly don’t have to read the first one to thoroughly enjoy this one. The four stories written by the authors flow well. The authors, who are themselves friends, really did a great job in creating a fun to read collection of romance stories. And it all comes out in the end – the dog tags, I mean. What a fun read.

  • I love projects like this one! Collaborations by best-selling authors always bring us the best of multiple writing worlds, and no quartet works better together than these four dynamic women.

“Secretly Smitten” is a followup book to “Smitten”, a series of short stories about a small town needing rescue from financial collapse. A group of friends crafts and idea to turn the town into a romance getaway, and the fun and chaos ensues.

In this top notch sequel, we meet the granddaughters of Grandma Rose. With the new characters coming from one family, “Secretly Smitten” has a bit more cohesion with the individual stories. I liked that a lot.

    Review continues on site.

  • I really enjoyed reading this book Secretly Smitten. I love the small town and all the people in it. The story starts at Natalie’s Bridle shower when Mia finds some military dog tags while playing in the attic. The girls find out that it is their Grandma’s long lost, thought died boyfriends dog tags. He had been killed while serving in Korea. How did they get into their Grandma’s attic? Was he still alive? Did someone from his family leave them? The girls decide to solve this mystery even though their Mother doesn’t want them to. She is afraid they find out something their Grandmother doesn’t need to know. Along the way of solving the mystery they each find someone special. You will want to read Secretly Smitten to find out what happens.

  • Secretly Smitten offers readers four contemporary stories in one book written by four delightful authors!
If you like romance novels and you are looking for a novel to tuck in your vacation tote or to savour during this upcoming Valentine day, this could be the one!

  • Secretly Smitten is about the three Thomas sisters and their family. The book is set in small town Smitten, Vermont. It’s a story about love and the mystery that follows, when an old set of dog tags are found in their Grandmother’s attic. The book is written in four parts, each one written around the three sisters and their mother. As each one finds and falls in love, the story of the missing dog tags unwinds.

  • One thing is that I felt they all ended too soon. I WANTED TO KNOW MORE! These are all accomplished authors that write well.

  • Think of it like a box of chocolates with a creamy centre. The outside of the box features the girls’ attempt to unravel the mystery of a pair of dog tags found in their grandma’s attic and late of the Vietnam War. This charming mystery provides the outer layer, inside, you can pick and choose whatever your favourite treat, bite in and taste the confectionary delight of four very different but very charming romances.

  • The book is divided up into four novellas written by four different authors (Colleen Coble, Kristin Billerbeck, Diann Hunt, and Denise Hunter). Even though each one is about a different character, they all blended well together, and it seemed like one story.

My favorite novella was the last one, Love Blooms. It seemed the most realistic and I liked how it didn’t seem like an “instant” romance.

  • The stories are very light and cute including dog tags, knitting (and a sheep!), the same snappy, witty dialogue from the first book and another all-around feel good story.

If you like Christian fiction, you will love this quick, light love story. You’ll be smitten with Secretly Smitten. :)

  • I’ll admit it… I really enjoyed this title. Unlike a straight novel, you get the cohesion of one story with the feel of four unique ones. I’ll be honest and say I wasn’t entirely sure how it would all flow with the different authors. I was pleased to have each individual story possess it’s own feel, yet the pieces fit well together. You could tell that the authors are great at communicating with each other so it comes across feeling like the story of a family from the perspective of 4 women.
If you want some fun romance that is kept clean written by talented female authors, then put this book on your list. After sampling their writing, you might be adding their other work to your reading list.

  • THE SELF-TAUGHT COOK says:

For me, the mystery works better than the romance angle. The romance is always a bit predictable (much like the character of Clare), and I would have liked for their stories to be a bit more in-depth. But the mystery of David was enough to keep me hooked until the end.

Clean romantic mystery; suitable for adolescents and up.

    4 stars

  • While romances sometimes can be written in a way that turns readers away, this one will only snag the heart of the reader and not let go till the last page. It was very enjoyable and exciting to see each of the stories come about and the way the authors placed them. The theme of love above all isn’t so much the love of a mate in these stories, but God’s love. Read it, get lost in the adventures and pull it off the shelf for a heart-lifter anytime you need one.
    My rating is 5+ stars.

  • So this book was interesting in that it was 4 different stories written by 4 different authors. They all tied together in the end though. I found some of the stories to be more entertaining than others; I guess that’s just the nature of having 4 different authors write it. Some of them had styles that meshed much more with what I like to read than others. I won’t tell you which ones were my favorites, but suffice it to say 2 of them were much more entertaining for me. Just know that if you get in the middle of a story and it’s not that appealing, stick with it because the next story may be right up your alley.

  • WOW, 4 books in one that is the first thing I LOVE about this book. 4 Short Stories by 4 different authors and each short story is packed full of romance and mystery!

  • The common thread woven into all four of these romance stories is the mystery of what happened to the long lost love of their grandmother, Rose who learns that the man she believed was MIA is found thanks to the efforts of her granddaughters who believe that it’s never too late for a lost love. A delightful series that takes readers into the little romantic town of Smitten and teaches us all that love can be found if we are willing to be open enough to let it find us. Little by little we are slowly meeting each of the town’s residents through each of these delightful books. While this book is the sequel to Smitten, you can read this one as a stand alone book but trust me, you’ll want to get lost in all the love that this small town seems to have in big doses.

  • Welcome back to Smitten. The little quaint town in Vermont, where friendships and love abound. Each one of the stories were great in their own right. I loved how they tied together. I especially liked the story of Grandma Rose and mysterious dog tags that are from her first love. All in all this was a great read full of family, laughter and fun. I highly recommend it!

  • Here is what makes this book absolutely unique and makes it deserving of the rating I have given it. Don’t let the fact that four authors write this book together cause you doubt how wonderful the book is. I believe the authors have accomplished something that very few authors (if any) could do. This book does not read as four separate stories written by four distinct individuals. Instead, it reads like a cohesive novel that was written by one person. Somehow these four women have made it work. I honestly could not tell the difference between writing styles of these authors, and the story made complete and perfect sense.

  • Secretly Smitten was as comfortable as a pair of slippers, a favorite blanket, and a roaring fire. Which I think you should gather as you read this equally cozy book.

  • “Secretly Smitten” is the second anthology of novellas taking place in the romantic destination town of Smitten, Vermont. In this set of four love stories, a common thread of mystery is woven through the tales of love. The Grandmother of three of our leading ladies apparently has a past which is exposed in the form of a set of military issue dog tags found in Grandma’s attic that do not belong to their deceased Grandfather. These entertaining stories come together beautifully and offer hours of heartwarming entertainment.
