  • SOUL’S GATE READ MY MAIL!

    I don’t know why I keep reading Jim Rubart’s books–every time, he seems to “read my mail.” Seriously–Soul’s Gate is a phenomenal book, and I think it might just be one of my favorites by Rubart (ROOMS changed my life and will always hold a top spot on my Faves list). The characters are engaging and the story itself just sort of blows the mind. Most importantly, I found the premise very challenging personally. How often do we let those lies we hear in our head control and drive our actions? How often do we NOT pray when we feel like we should? This is a fascinating look at intercessory prayer, giving tangibility to a non-tangible (sometimes) aspect of faith. Very well done!

  • FANTASY CHRISTIAN FICTION AT IT’S BEST!

    Soul’s Gate is one of those books that really makes you think after you’ve put it down. It is really mind bending. That is why it is so appropriate that it mentions “The Matrix” movie in it. This book is “The Matrix” of Christian fiction. It is full of suspense and keeps you at the edge of your seat. Since this is the first book in the series I cannot wait to see what else will happen.

  • MIND-BLOWING

    Jim is an author who comes up with mind-twisting plots and what-ifs. Soul’s Gate was no exception. The characters were interesting, but what grabbed me and is staying with me after closing the book is the idea that I want God to use me in a way like He did the characters.

    I’ve read every single book by James Rubart and think he is a talented author for those that love a little something out of the ordinary in regards to suspense thrillers for Christians. He rates right up there with the greats, Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker and if you love books on spiritual warfare with a biblical twist I haven’t read anywhere, you definitely want to pick this one up. This book will change your outlook on intercessory prayer and just how powerful prayer really is.

    Rarely do I come across works of fiction that I can. not. put. down. This was one of those though. Quite the page turner. Very active; it pulls you in. You find yourself a part of the story; much more than just a reader. There are times that you can feel your self; shaken and attacked. If you do not know the power of prayer, if you have not studied spiritual warfare, this book will shake your faith to its core. An exciting yet challenging read.   • FOCUSES ON WARFARE, BUT MORE ON RESTORATION AND RELATIONSHIP WITH THE SPIRIT.

    Soul’s Gate surprised me! I’m absolutely sure this won’t be my last time reading Rubart. His character development and scene progression are fantastic. By the time you’ve finished the author’s note at the end, you’ll find that what he points out is true: this book is primarily about healing and a restoration of a relationship with the Lord, not just supernatural speculative intrigue.

    Warning: This is not a book that can be easily read in one sitting, nor should. Souls Gate is a book that takes digesting and although each bite is delectable, it will benefit the reader to take small bites and take the time to fully taste each morsel.

    “Courage is not the absence of fear, it is action in the face of fear.” When I read those words, they just jumped out at me and I had to make sure I shared this because it’s so true!! Undeniable. Fear is tangible and it can literally choke you and prevent you from moving, or reacting. However, when I read that, I was like, “YES!” no matter how afraid we are, we can conquer it through Jesus, because He is our strength.

    I wish I could describe how awesome and well-written this book is. Yes, it is fiction, but you feel like you have entered a world that truly describes in perfect clarity good vs evil and who will win at the end?

    This is only James Rubart’s fourth book, but he has quickly become one of my favorite authors. Every one of his books is different from the average Christian novel on the market and is well worth reading. His books don’t just entertain, they minister and move. I eagerly anticipate each new novel he writes, and this one more than the rest. It sounded like an excellent book, and the book trailer they made for the book made me want to read it all the more.

  • EACH SOUL IS IMPORTANT

    This is an interesting story with wonderful characters. I especially liked that Reece was so human. He had feelings to fight. I totally recommend this book to readers of all types. It might also make an interesting book for discussion groups. It will certainly raise the question of what God wants each of us to do.

    This book is full of twists and turns and the outcome of the mission of these four men is so important, you truly are on the edge of your seat as you follow the story. I enjoyed the characters and struggled as they struggled and rejoiced as they rejoiced.

    The greatest thing I enjoyed about this book was the reminder of the importance of our walk with the Lord and that there are great battles going on that we don’t see regarding our salvation. It also reminded me that not only are there battles going on in the heavens, but that there are battles right here on earth against evil that we are called to battle and that we have Jesus on our side!

  • ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I’VE EVER READ

    This was one of the best books I’ve ever read.

    I know that’s a bold statement, but seriously. I know part of it is due to the fact that Jim is a talented author, the story was suspenseful and driven and entertaining, and well written – but it was also largely due to the fact that I’m going through a personal storm right now that really related for me, so the content of this story is dear to my heart and urged me on in a way I needed – in a way God knew I needed. Such a blessing.

    Let me assure you, God is using Jim Rubart in the fiction industry, and you really don’t want to miss this story. I can’t wait for the rest of the series. I hope you give it a chance, even if it’s not your typical genre :)

  • INTERESTING SCI FI TYPE OF NOVEL

    When I began reading this title, I wasn’t sure what to expect.

    The story is entertaining while also introducing some rather important points for consideration (e.g. how we view ourselves versus how God sees us.) The blending of Scripture into the novel was well done without seeming heavy handed with it.

    I look forward to reading more books by James L. Rubart as well as seeing how this series will play out.

    Oh reader, don’t read this book as you would some fairy tale. I almost did. And then I realized the truth that was captured in this story. And it blew me away. True, the Soul’s Gate journey is fiction in a literal sense, but the truth that all Christians are in a warfare against evil is very true. Spiritual battle can and should be waged. Believers need to believe God’s Word as truth and live in the victory that comes from listening to and obeying the Holy Spirit.

    Rubart does a good job blending the fantasy of entering another person’s soul for healing purposes with characters that each have a personal story that requires Truth to replace the enemies lies… it’s a quick read that stirs up emotions, opens us up to the reality of another dimension of reality, and shows the heart of our struggle to protect ourselves from emotional pain, which causes real Spiritual bondage and greater pain and loss.

  • SPIRITUAL WARFARE, SCI-FI, & A HINT OF TIME TRAVEL

    Not since Ted Dekker’s The Circle series have I been this hooked! James Rubart’s new Well Spring series is spiritual warfare, sci-fi, and time travel all mixed together. It’s as if the author was watching Doctor Who and wondered what would it be like if the Doctor was a Christian, zooming across time and space and battling demons? I’m not saying that he did, but however he arrived at the idea, it works!

    …if you want a book that makes you think, or if you’ve been bored by the majority of the books you’ve found in the Christian fiction aisle, here is the book for you. Meanwhile, I’ll be the one camped out waiting for Book 2.

  • A THRILLING RIDE WITH JAMES RUBART

    This book is full of intriguing characters; Reece Roth, the leader of his band of warriors; Brandon, a popular Christian singer; Marcus, a professor, and Dana, a sales manager. Then there is of course the bad guys. Brrrr, they are chilling and very scary.

    James brought out some very intriguing thoughts about various gifts and abilities from God, including being able to be in one place then another in a blink of an eye. Hmmmm….. he definitely caused me to think.

  • This book is different from any book I have ever read. It is was kind of a fantasy, sci-fi Christian book. In the book, the characters can “jump” into another person’s body and wage spiritual warfare on the person’s behalf. This idea isn’t totally Biblical to me, but it doesn’t matter. The book is very enjoyable, but also very intense and almost scary, at least to me. We are constantly battling in a spiritual war and I guess I try to live without thinking too much about it in the dark and scary way.

    Definitely a great book and a great Christian book for those who really do enjoy a little intensity and sci-fi.

    I was immediately drawn into the book by the character of Brandon Scott. He seemed to be the sort of person who knew he was lost and needed to find a way back to God. He is the character that stands out the most as needing upcoming retreat. But it’s not only his life that is affected. The action starts to pick up pretty quickly and some unbelievable things start to happen. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next books. If you have ever wanted to take a peek into the “other side,” this is the book for you.

    The plot is fast-paced and unique with relationships, spiritual warfare, action, and suspense. The characters come to life on the page, especially as you glimpse into their souls.     This book was pretty good. It was more mystical than I like, but it did make me think about intercessory prayer and how important that is for a Christian.

  • AMAZING WRITING AND A GREAT STORY

    The whole premise that the fight between good and evil can take place in someone’s soul was an idea that I had never thought of. So right from the start of the book I was intrigued as to how a battle could take place inside of a soul. It was interesting to see how that worked out. I also like the imagery that was used to describe what it was like being inside of a person’s soul. We all have good places and bad places, light and dark places inside of us – and seeing how all those places turn into one seamless “world” was inspiring.
