  • FANTASTIC BOOK

This is a wonderful book for women at any stages in life to read. I found myself drawn into this book especially by the humor combined with practicality, Bible Verses, and a look at all stages of life. I found myself laughing, crying, and doing a whole lot of nodding in agreement as I read Joyce’s antidotes throughout this book.

  • We seem to be lacking “older women to teach the younger women.” Joyce makes a conscience effort to be a Titus 2 woman with this book.
This book is full of advice on loving your husband, that marriage is not all about you, and on raising children. She discusses being a servant, and looking for ways to interact with the older and younger generations. Joyce Ellis helps you see how your “hats” come together, and how you can make a difference in your world.

  • THE 500 HATS REVIEW

I just loved reading this book. It was down-to-earth and kept my attention. I found myself nodding my head with so many things throughout the book. I like how Ellis did speak about the Proverbs 31 woman but she brought so many other characteristics from scripture into the book. I loved the quotes from real women at the beginning of chapters. I enjoyed the reflection questions and scripture at the end of chapters. It made the chapter really tie together and made me do some searching on my own. And she gives you tons of other resources throughout the book as well.
I highly recommend this book if you are of the female gender. I think everyone should read it. If only just to realize you are not alone in this journey that can sometimes feel so lonely.

  • THE 500 HATS OF A MODERN-DAY WOMAN BY JOYCE K ELLIS #BOOKREVIEW @LITFUSE

Well I am a modern-day woman who wears many hats and I have to admit this book made me laugh but it also challenged me to decide what hats are the most important and to wear them accordingly! It really made me think about my role as a wife and mother. It challenged me in my walk with God. I think this would be a great book to use in a mommy study group to help each other and keep each other accountable.

  • I thought Ellis’s writing style was conversational and easy to read. She offers lots of stories to illustrate her points. She concludes each chapter with resources to help with the particular “hat” she is discussing, as well as Bible verses and questions for further personal study. This book would be great for a Bible Study in an individual or group setting, especially for those who are new to Bible Study since it was more light and conversational…
Note:I received this book for free from Litfuse in exchange or this review. This is my honest opinion.

  • 500 HATS OF A MODERN DAY WOMAN BY JOYCE ELLIS REVIEW (LITFUSE)

I have many roles. Some I like. Some I love. Some I disdain. Some I despise. Yet, I still have to take time out and teach the kids something. Take those precious minutes and take a long shower. Read Kalen a page out of whatever book he brings me. Make sure to give Brad his meds. Wake up in the morning to make sure Brad gets up for school.
I liked the chapter about marriage. Sometimes women get married and don’t have a clue what they are getting into. I definitely had no clue. I didn’t like being married. Wasn’t sure if it was for me. It lost its appeal quickly. We lasted through one session of pre-marital counseling. I was not comfortable telling another human being my problems, especially when the pastor/counselor was my ex’s uncle.

  • THE 500 HATS OF A MODERN-DAY WOMAN (BOOK REVIEW)

Joyce Ellis has been in my shoes. And she has been in your shoes. See, being a woman automatically means wearing an outrageous number of hats. There’s simply no escaping that fact.
Written with warmth, empathy, and humor, The 500 Hats of a Modern-Day Woman takes you to the mirror and helps you examine the various hats you have to wear. This is no quick and shallow examination, though. By the end of the book, you’ll most likely have discovered how to wear several of your hats more gracefully and with less stress. And, as you know, less stress is something for which nearly every woman seeks.

  • “500 HATS” KINDLE FIRE GIVEAWAY FROM JOYCE K. ELLIS

I feel as if I am going non-stop in all different directions many days as I am a wife, a mother, a daughter, a daughter-in-law, a friend and a co-worker. Therefore, when I was given the chance to read and review Joyce K. Ellis’ book “The 500 Hats of a Modern-Day Woman” I jumped on it! I thoroughly enjoyed every page of this book and this will be one that I will go back and read the entire thing or just parts of many, many times. This book hits it right on the head – there are so many roles that each woman wears day in and day out and it is overwhelming, stressful, and frustrating, but yet we are not alone and can really be turned into something positive and rewarding.

  • This was an easy and enjoyable read. It is easy to see the many, many hats that we each personally wear every day or at different seasons in our life, but it isn’t always as obvious the hats others wear. This book relates nicely to the ones you are wearing, but I found it more helpful to see what others are going through. I did really like that this book has questions that would make it a great read for a book club or Bible study. I really recommend it for that purpose, although if you are looking for a fun read that deals with modern issues this is a great book.

This is a great book for all women to read. I enjoyed the humor combined with practicality and Scripture, and that Joyce Ellis hits all stages of life. I don’t have small children at home anymore, but as an older woman, I still have daily responsibilities to manage. This is a book I will keep handy for the times when my life seems to go in a thousand different directions and I need some reminding. This would make a great book for ladies’ groups to study and discuss together. I really think it is meant to be shared.

  • 500 HATS

The author Joyce K. Ellis, has revised her book from all those years ago to include more modern day information to apply to our lives. We don’t need an instruction manual that tells us how to organize our lives so that we can take on even more roles than the ones we have been given. We need to know how to appreciate the God given ones we have already obtained.

  • THE 500 HATS OF A MODERN-DAY WOMAN BY JOYCE K. ELLIS

I really enjoyed reading The 500 Hats of a Modern-Day Woman. My favorite chapters actually weren’t the ones relating to marriage and motherhood, but the later chapters about aging, servanthood, and being bold for Christ. It wasn’t a life-changing book for me, but it was an encouraging book that helped restore my priorities and spiritual focus. Joyce helped me remember WHY I’m doing what I’m doing, and WHO I’m really doing it for. This book would make an excellent study for a church book club or small group study, since it would work well in a multi-generational setting.

500 Hats of a Modern-Day Woman: Strength for Today’s Demanding Roles -In The 500 Hats of a Modern-Day Woman you’ll find strength, purpose, and perspective to balance your many roles—and gain insight into the roles of women around you. I read through this book fairly quickly this week. I have to say it was interesting to see the different hats us women carry. I pretty much already knew the role in which I stretch myself to get everything done. What hats do you wear on any given day? This is a great self-help for those women who feel burdened. Who want to connect with why they feel over worked, under appreciated and misunderstood. I would recommend this book to beginner’s, mother’s, sisters, empty nester’s and brides.

  • ARE YOUR HATS GETTING HEAVY?

Reading this book was like chatting with the lady sitting next to me at yet another baby shower. Ellis writes in a familiar, cozy way much like a grandmother sharing how it was done in her day. Her words encourage women to cut themselves some slack and not take the world so seriously. She supports her opinion with well-documented references and scaffolds her ideas with Bible verses. I didn’t agree with all of Ellis’s comments but could relate to many of her anecdotal stories. Each section has a takeaway thought to carry you through the next hat crisis.

  • Reading Joyce Ellis’s book gave me a taste of freedom I had been craving. She brings us a book that is written with humor, humility, and a bit of hindsight. She reaches in and tells us stories that let us peek into the many hats she’s worn, and let’s us know it’s okay to take some of those hats and hand them over to others, or just sit them on the shelf. In other words, she tells us what so many women, not just working women need to hear: It’s okay to say no. Its okay to be angry. It’s okay to let our feelings be known

While I highly recommend this book, I would have preferred an entire chapter on single women. While there are some stories scattered throughout this book that concern singles, divorcees, and widows, I believe that an entire chapter could have helped those of us)myself included) in this growing group. I sometimes struggle to find out where I belong, and I know I would have appreciated this critical inclusion. Perhaps that author herself doesn’t have enough information and experience with this demographic. Notwithstanding, the book is a valuable resource and a quick read.

  • THE 500 HATS OF A MODERN DAY WOMAN

I’ve been serving in church for over 20 years. I have a tween and a teen. I’m more of a Titus woman than a blushing bride, so I don’t know that I got much new insight from Ellis. That said, I think it would be an excellent gift for a newlywed or any woman heading into a new stage of life (a new more demanding job, having a child, caring for an elderly parent etc).
I most certainly felt encouraged. When I looked back over the notes I marked on my e-galley, I actually DID find a fair bit of insight for me. Perhaps my pride had already shut my mind down, since I felt like they were just reminders to me, but repetition is good if we want to change. They are also things you can never hear too often.

  • BOOK REVIEW: THE 500 HATS OF A MODERN-DAY WOMAN

Wow! I have to say this is probably my favorite exclusively-for-women book to date. I had two thoughts as I read page one: ‘Love!’ and ‘For nonfiction, this writing is so engaging.’
Some books have great content but are kind of like taking vitamins–tasteless and boring. This book was like putting the vitamins into a chocolate chip cookie.  The content was meaningful and relevant to modern women as well as fun to read.
This book would work GREAT for a women’s Bible study, and I loved how every chapter ended with additional resources: book titles, newsletters, and websites for further information; reflection and discussion questions; and a relevant thought to ponder. I recommend this book to young, single women to older, widowed women, and all the women in between.
