{More about The Baker’s Wife}

To save her husband and son, Audrey Bofinger must rescue her enemy.

The Bofinger family has lost their church ministry in a scandal exposed by Officer Jack Mansfield. Hoping to heal and to restore their reputation, Audrey, Geoff, and their son Ed take over a failing bakery in the small community.

Driving to the bakery one morning, blinded by fog, Audrey hits a motor scooter owned by Jack’s wife, Julie. The mangled scooter is crushed and bloody. But Julie is nowhere to be found. Her disappearance coincides with a sudden illness that nearly cripples Audrey.

Jack believes the Bofingers have hurt Julie to take revenge on him, but the evidence dries up and her trail goes cold. At a breaking point, Jack takes the tiny bakery and its patrons hostage, issuing only one demand: Audrey has six hours to return Julie to him, or lose Geoff and Ed forever.

With only an excruciating and intuitive gift, an ex-con, and Julie’s estranged daughter to help search for clues, Audrey starts the search of her life for a woman who has vanished like the fog.

The Baker’s Wife is already receiving praise:

The Baker’s Wife brings together unlikely characters-Audrey, Diane, and Miralee-each with her own agenda and differences, to suggest that all things are possible with faith. A combination of suspense, mystery, religion, and even romance weaves this tale into a cohesive, compelling read.
–New York Journal of Books

Healy’s fascinating plot is fast paced and difficult to put down once started. The meaningful faith message is communicated through various ways and will help the reader’s own faith to grow. The characters are easy to relate to in both their good and bad choices, and the delectable bakery descriptions will have readers hungering for more.

Tina at Giving N Sharing I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I’m sure you will too. It’s very fast paced and you won’t want to put the book down.

Whitney at Rambles of A Stay at Home Mom When I came to the last page I gave a mostly contented sigh. The ending is about the power of forgiveness and the freedom it brings, especially when it comes at a great price.

Becky at In The Pages Erin Healy has hit one out of the park – this is an author to watch!! The Baker’s Wife was a book I honestly could not put down!

10/25

Jill at Books, Books Everywhere I really enjoyed this book, the mystery element kept me reading and what made it even more compelling was God’s guiding hand in solving the mystery.

Beckie at By The Book When I started reading Erin Healy’s novel, The Baker’s Wife, I expected a suspense novel about a missing woman and the woman blamed for her disappearance. What I got was so much more. The Baker’s Wife is one of the best books I have had the pleasure to read this year.

10/26

Denise at Under the Boardwalk This is an easy read that keeps you guessing right to the end. The discussion questions at the end will make you question your basic beliefs in a deeper more thought provoking way.

Brenda at WV Stitcher This was a very fast paced mystery that kept me turning the pages to see how things would work out. I found the plot quite interesting, and the characters quite believable and sincere.

Books, Etc…by Bina I would not be lying when I say that this is one of the best fiction books I have read all year…and that is saying a lot as I have gone thru a LOT of books this year.

Vic’s Media Room “The Baker’s Wife” is a thriller. The director, Alfred Hitchcock defined thriller this way, put a time bomb under a table in a crowded restaurant with an hour on the clock. Two women sit at the table with their baby strollers and have lunch. The audience will be screaming at the movie screen as the clock is running down. Erin Healy has written that kind of story. Be prepared to have your nerves stretched to the breaking point as you read this book. The nice thing is it is all worth it in the end .

Splashes Of Joy Overall, this was a fantastic book weaved together with characters that were likeable and interesting and living out the thrills, mystery and suspense of this story. The plot was pretty easy to guess, though there were a few surprises for me as the story was played out. I read this book in one day, I just couldn’t put it down.

Kris at Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers I was hooked from the beginning…so much so that I carried The Baker’s Wife, by author Erin Healy, in the car with me on the way to Life Group one Sunday evening. It’s not that far to Life Group, but I couldn’t quit reading .

Jill at Book Review Travels I loved this suspenseful novel and I often had a hard time putting it down when I needed to. The faith topics were also great to read. I recommend it to anybody that loves reading suspense novels with a Christian theme.

Stacie at Hobbit Door I loved this book. It was refreshingly different from a lot of what I’ve been reading lately. Once I picked this up, I really didn’t want to put it down. The author was new to me. I haven’t read anything else she’s written. After this, I will be looking for more books by her. I loved the originality of the story. Her characters felt real and weren’t perfect but not exaggerated in their imperfections. Each of their stories added something to the whole. I love the added spiritual dimension, the inexplicable and unexplainable. I loved the connection to baking bread that Aubrey and Geoff do together, first as a hobby and second as a career. Ralph and I love to cook and bake together. We love to use it to bless other people. I really connected with that part of the story as a result. I strongly recommend this book and truly enjoyed it.

Ann at The Joy of Writing The storyline of The Baker’s Wife is fascinating and well-crafted, with a mystery and intensity that will keep the reader hooked to the very end.

Kaylea at My Scrappy Life The Baker’s Wife will make you think, probably make you cringe a bit at the actions of different characters and provide you with a great read.

10/29

Linda at One Desert Rose Erin Healy, in The Baker’s Wife , sets into action the multiple scenarios that keep you speculating on the accident scene; the bizarre disappearance of Julie Mansfield; Audrey’s ‘gift’ of sensing other’s pain; and the meltdown of Detective Jack Mansfield. The scenes are well established and described. The intensity is off the charts, particularly the detective’s meltdown! The characters’ personalities are delicately, yet deliberately unraveled before our eyes, making them as real as we ourselves.

Patricia at Dream a little dream The first thing that came to mind when I read this story is this is someone who truly knows the art of writing!

Theresa at Frugal Experiments The Baker’s Wife is a riveting thriller. I particularly liked how the author managed to weave the earlier scandal throughout the story, without giving it away until the very end. This was one that I found hard to put down, once I started reading it.

Kathleen at Celtic Lady’s Reviews I have enjoyed Erin Healey ever since I read Kiss, a collaboration with Ted Dekker. The Baker’s Wife is at the same time tragic and uplifting. I love the characters and how Erin wrote them with great feeling and compassion, telling the reader that none of us are perfect and we all have our flaws. I found myself on the verge of tears a few times while reading this book and eagerly awaiting the next event that would happen, very suspenseful and fast paced reading. I highly recommend this book to readers of faith, mystery and the human condition.

Ronie at Rapid-Fire Fiction Once again Healy compiles a solid story of suspense and thrills. The story was complex but satisfying. Healy definitely knows how to write villains in a way that feels like a splinter. . .then a wedge . . .then a full-blown plank of pain and aggravation. Loved the premise for the heroine–intriguing and compelling!! Heartbreaking issues in this story with a triumph-over-tragedy ending. Overall a very good read.

10/31

Deb’s Here I started reading this book and could not put it down. It drew you in making you wanting for more.It was full of suspense and surprises.

Shonda at The Knowlton Nest I must say, this book had me thinking and guessing the entire time.

Dina at 4 Lettre Words The Baker’s Wife was nearly impossible to put down! It centers around the choices people make and how they can affect others. I loved everything about it, especially the well-crafted characters. Audrey and Geoff are so likable, and Julie’s disappearance had me puzzled until the very end. I also appreciated the reminder that everything must be forgiven…and that forgiveness brings freedom.

Edward at Summit Book Reviews The Baker’s Wife by Erin Healy is a novel I didn’t want to put down. It was a quick and fun read. The author knows how to hook readers and keep them wondering, me included.

Laura at Lighthouse Academy I have to admire the way Ms. Healy wove together a story, from start to finish, with all the intricate details included in such a fascinating way. I can’t imagine the planning that must go into a novel like this. If you are looking for a good suspense, then THE BAKER’S WIFE is a book that you’ll want to read.

11/1

Cindy’s Book Reviews An exciting book, I didn’t put this one down until I finished it. There was lots of suspense and while some have referred to some paranormal activity, I really didn’t get that, I just felt like Audrey was very in tune with the voice of the Lord and could actually feel the pain of others. Perhaps it is just my beliefs. I enjoyed this book very much and I give it a 4 star rating! Definitely a book I will be passing along to friends to read!

Chrystal at The Self Employed Writer Unbelievable! That is really all I can say.The book was THAT good. It left me speechless.

Lisa at A Casual Reader’s Blog Oh wow, this book was amazing. There were so many twists and turns, some of which I guessed and some of which kept me guessing. More than that though, it was just an amazing story. Audrey struggles with her ability to feel what others are feeling in a very literal sense. There were so many wonderful threads involving compassion, consequences, and second chances. The author was able to paint an amazing sense of atmosphere. I could feel the tension, and I think my heart even began to race at times because I was nervous for the characters.

Crystal at Cinnamon Hollow

Lauri at Knits, Reads and Reviews Just reading the back cover is enough to get you excited about the book, don’t you agree? Then you turn the book over to see the foggy woods with a lone woman…intriguing! Yes, I like a good mystery and this one fits the bill…..a fast paced page turner. The characters were great, the plot mysterious, the suspense drove me crazy and all in all this was very VERY good book.

Crystal at My Reading Room The Baker’s Wife blends the supernatural with suspense and interesting characters that make you want to keep reading the book and not put it down until you reach the last page.

Randy Brandt Healey has created an unusual blend, but it works quite well, resulting in a tasty sandwich of suspense. I highly recommend The Baker’s Wife.

Laura at Day by Day in Our World [The Baker’s Wife] takes you for a few twists and turns before ultimately having several of the characters finding forgiveness and peace. I found it to be an enjoyable read that left me longing for more.

Jill at Frugal Plus The Intriguing characters along with this fast paced Novel will keep you turning the pages!

Jettie’s Ramblings This is a very well written book, lots of side tracks, which make you have to pay attention. I really enjoyed it, and think that anyone who likes a mystery would make short work of the book.

11/4

Becky at Christian Chick’s Thoughts I absolutely could not put The Baker’s Wife down. Not only is it an exciting and engaging story, but it also beautifully illustrates the command given in Galatians 6:2, which says, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ” (ESV).

Angela at All Grown Up? I wanted more and I wanted it now. It was all I could do to keep from flipping to the last chapter and reading it first! Ok, I don’t have that much self control, I read the last chapter and then went back and read the rest of the book. Yes it was that good! I think I have found a new favorite author!
