{More about Tidewater Inn}

Welcome to Hope Beach. A place of intoxicating beauty . . . where trouble hits with the force of a hurricane.

Inheriting a beautiful old hotel on the Outer Banks could be a dream come true for Libby. The inn cries out for her restorer’s talent and love of history. She’s delighted to learn of the family she never knew she had. And the handsome Coast Guard lieutenant she’s met there on the island could definitely be the man of her dreams.

But Libby soon realizes that the only way she can afford the upkeep on the inn is to sell it to developers who are stalking the island. The father who willed her the inn has died before she could meet him, and her newfound brother and sister are convinced she’s there to steal their birthright. Worst of all, her best friend and business partner has been kidnapped before her eyes, and Libby’s under suspicion for the crime.

Libby’s dream come true is becoming a nightmare. Her only option is to find her friend and prove her innocence, or lose everything on the shores of Hope Island.

Amy | A Nest in the Rocks Tidewater Inn is just as exciting as the above description sounds. With drama and mystery at every turn, the tantalizing scent of romance swirling around the handsome Coastie, and a hurricane that sweeps devastation across this tropical paradise, there’s not a dull paragraph in this book.

Colleen Coble weaves a tale that grabbed me right from the start and kept me guessing until the end.

Heidi | Buzz4Mommies Tidewater Inn by Collen Coble comes racing out the gates with action and intrigue in the first few pages. I love it when a book starts with a dramatic event and then builds the characters from there. Colleen Coble does a terrific job of developing the characters and story lines to build to a great climatic conclusion.

Pamela | Daysong Reflections The descriptions of the Outer Banks makes me want to visit the area. Her characters are so well developed that it was easy to love or hate them, or to hope for a positive transformation in their lives. Tidewater Inn is an example of some of the best and worst of human behavior from faith and loyalty to greed and murder. It is a riveting story that merges suspense and romance in a delightful way.

Shondra | Give Me Today Kidnapping. Inheritance. Romance. What’s not to love about this book?

Hannah E. Trotter at the Yahoo Contributor Network Tidewater Inn is honestly one of the best novels I have read in a long time! It has all the fascination and intrigue of a historical novel woven together with a modern day mystery.

Christy | Home of OHM WOW. I cannot say enough about this book. Everything was just right … The characters, the storyline, the writing, etc., played out so nicely in my head, that I could totally see this book becoming a movie. I loved the book so much that in the same day that I finished it, I handed it over to a friend who was leaving for the cottage and said ‘You HAVE to read this! You’ll LOVE it!’.

8/13

Kemi | Homemaking Organized From the mystery of what happened to her friend to the relationships with her new siblings I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next.

Julie | The Surrendered Scribe Tidewater Inn took the lead for my so-far favorite fiction read of the year. It’s also my favorite Colleen Coble book, and I don’t toss either term around lightly.

Andi | Radiant Light It was super fun reading about a place I knew so well. The mystery was great! Kept me turning pages, and up late to finish.

8/14

Just Jennifer Reading It had excitement, romance, and mystery. All of which were combined wonderfully to create a compelling story.

Jennifer | Just Wedeminute Interesting characters and I loved learning a little bit about the restoration of historic properties.

Kathleen | Reviews From The Heart I rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars and was up in the wee hours of the morning because I started reading it so late, I thought I would be able to put it down, but I couldn’t! Sleep deprivation has never felt to good and so worth it too!

Brooke | I Blog 4 Books The suspense was intriguing and I was completely surprised by the ending.

8/15

Kianna’s Korner I loved that this book immediately drew me in. It immediately piques the readers interest with heart pounding suspense. I was completely immersed in the plot which contained storm-invoking drama and action that held my attention until the very last word.

Katie | Legacy of a Writer Tidewater Inn brought in a colorful cast of characters—from moody and unreadable Brent to loveable and faithful Libby. It was fun to get to know them all, though I especially loved getting to know Alec—the handsome fella who was interested in Libby. There sweet, little ‘courtship’ during the days of investigation was so…well, sweet!!

Michelle | Life in Review This story is full of small town drama, family drama, mystery, suspense, and romance. As always, she also blends in a beautiful message of faith, love, and hope. I really enjoy a small town story, and this one has a gorgeous setting as well. I will be anxiously waiting for the next book in this series! I can hardly wait!

Kim | Window To My World Colleen Coble includes elements of family, friendship, suspense, mystery, and many shades of human emotion that really delve deep within the human heart. She deals with spiritual struggles that many broken families have to deal with over a lifetime. She deals with the emotions of hope and loyalty that cling to our hearts despite what circumstances speak to us. In short, it’s almost impossible to succinctly say what this story speaks to me. It is a very well-written story of Libby Holladay’s journey of discovery amid very trying situations that just take over her life suddenly and unexpectedly.

8/16

Life with Lesley Tidewater Inn was AMAZING! I loved it! It is my favorite kind of book – full of drama and family and of course a love story. 🙂

Laura | Lighthouse Academy …by the end of the first chapter my interest was piqued and I couldn’t put the book down, reading when I should’ve been working.

Linda’s Lunacy Tidewater Inn has it all. Family, love, business, suspense, kidnapping, and murder all in the beautiful setting of the Outer Banks. This book is a great read that I didn’t want to put down for fear of missing something. It’s well written and easy to read, perfect for a relaxing read.

Krystal | Live To Read This is exciting right from the beginning!

Tammi | Our Homeschooling Pilgrimage Colleen’s ingenuity in using a simple WWJD necklace to strengthen Libby’s faith, and introduce Jesus Christ’s patience and love to the characters and therefore the reader, as personal Lord and Savior. A wonderful story that I think you will enjoy reading.

Crystal | Cinnamon Hollow I like how Colleen Coble wrote the characters and how she led them on their paths to God and Faith. I also like how she wrote the mystery. There were times when I thought I know exactly “whodunit” but then there would be a little twist and I’d think it might be somebody else. While she does give some hints along the way, you are still guessing until the very end and that makes a great mystery novel.

Suzanne | Cows and Lasers and Everything in Between Colleen Coble’s latest novel Tidewater Inn is one that will immediately capture your attention in the first chapter and have you reading as fast as you can in order to find out what happens next. She holds true to her other novels I have read and throws in a mix of romance and mystery and always shows the reader what happens when the characters follow God’s plan even though they may fight it and may not understand it. This novel reminded me to freely forgive others even though they have not asked for and may never ask for that forgiveness.

Kathleen | Jersey Girl Book Reviews Tidewater Inn is an intriguing suspense novel that has enough mystery and romance to keep your heart palpitating as you turn the pages while sitting on the edge of your seat!

8/17

Marissa | The Review Stew This book had me at the edge of my seat with the suspense from the kidnapping, praying that they would find her kidnapped friend, and willing and urging her new found family to accept her! I wanted everything to work out for her in the end!

Mel’s World with Melissa Mashburn From the start of the book you are immediately brought into the complicated life of the lead character, Libby. With great adventure, heart break, sit on the edge of your seat suspense and redemption this makes for a great read.

8/18

Melanie | A Year of Jubilee Reviews Colleen Coble is so good at interweaving storylines in her book that will end up coming together. She keeps you guessing though as to who or how they are related. I typically guess something and am completely off base.. LOVE that! She is one of my favorite writers and I am thrilled that she has this new series on Hope Beach. The characters are so fun to hang out with. I have always been one who loves old houses and architecture and that being added into the story makes it all the more intriguing. So descriptive you want to go and visit Libby on the island!

Julie | More of Him I liked the fact that the book showed Libby’s journey of faith. It was so real and I like that it showed the faith of some of the characters against the real evilness of other characters. I highly recommend this book. It shows such a stark difference in evil verses the ways of God. I really enjoyed the mystery of it and the complicated relationships.

Michele | My Blessings From Above Tidewater Inn is full of suspense and mystery! The characters are realistic and engaging. You won’t be disappointed with this read!

8/20

Tracy’s Book Nook You can always count on Colleen Coble to deliver a well crafted novel with an engaging story line. There is a lot going on in this story from kidnapping, mystery, estranged families, death and, of course, love. I really noticed the creative word choices in her descriptions of different events and appreciated them as I rolled the words over my tongue. Another GREAT novel by Colleen Coble.

Susan | His Morning Glory This is a great book for suspense lovers. Colleen Coble does a great job creating multi-dimensional characters who get caught up in situations and relationships they never expected! I especially like the setting of this one — a wonderful old inn desperate for some TLC on a wonderfully remote island. Add caves full of secrets and ruthless land developers and you have a book that is hard to put down.

Tammy Is Blessed Coble’s ability to describe the scenic setting without being too wordy or flowery makes you feel like you’re right there with the characters. The storyline is interesting on several different levels and keeps the novel moving quickly without becoming overwhelming. The characters are very realistic and believable.

Christine | The IE Mommy Coble’s story was wonderfully written as she reveals just enough answers at a time to hold your attention while holding back others to keep you reading! The mystery had many unexpected twists that I loved! I never want to know how a book will end before I get there! Suspense, mystery and love blended together for a great ending you won’t want to miss!

8/21

Patty | Broken Teepee Ms. Coble builds her story slowly and lets her bad guys be bad enough without a lot of the gore that pervades modern books. The hero is heroic and human all at the same time which makes him a delight. I generally prefer a historical novel but I did enjoy this tale of love and suspense set in old buildings in modern times.

Whitney | Rambles of a SAHM As with all of her work, Tidewater Inn, moves at a pretty fast pace. It can be detrimental to any other project you have going on. If you are like me you’ll find yourself sneaking in reading moments when you shouldn’t just so you can see what is happening.

Renee | Black ‘n Gold Girl’s Book Spot From the first chapter you know you’re in for a superbly entertaining story. Tidewater Inn is definitely a good start to a new series and I’m very much looking forward to reading Rosemary Cottage

8/22

Reviews by Renae As with all of Colleen Coble’s novel, the plot grabs you right from the beginning and holds your attention tightly until the very end. I recommend every single one of her novels.

Dianna | Savings in Seconds Kept me guessing. The first chapter was already chock full of suspense and surprise….it was that way throughout the book.

Rissi | Scribbles, Scripts and Such This novel tells a story of unconditional forgiveness with some hints of mystery and romance to keep up a cloak of intrigue. Engaging characters compel the reader to want to keep turning pages and leave us anxious for the second novel, Rose Cottage.

Pam | Southern Gal Loves to Read Tidewater Inn has mystery, action, romance — a mix of elements that make for a great story. The action grabs you at the very beginning and continues throughout the book with lots of twists and turns to keep you reading and guessing. The characters are rich and interesting, people whose stories come alive and draw you in. Their emotions and struggles with faith and personal relationships keep you engaged.

Megan | When life gets you down….read a book She delicately weaves suspense with romance and mystery that makes me forget at times that I am actually sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the plot to play itself out.

Stacey | WORD up! This is a thrilling weekend read!

Lauri | Knits, Reads and Reviews I really enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting….I just had to find out what happened next! I loved that the twist was kept under wraps, I usually figure it out, but this time I was taken by surprise. Suspense, Love, Romance, Drama, and Mystery will keep you turning the pages long after your eyes tire, I definitely recommend this one!

Anne | Mommy Has to Work I couldn’t put this book down and I’m sure you won’t be able to either!! It was a great mystery!

8/23

Vic’s Media Room Ms. Coble knows how to write characters that come alive off the page. This is a fast-paced read that will keep you guessing as to what is really going on. When you add in the themes of trust, in each other and in God, as well as God has the control this story has the force of a rocket blast-off.

Shirley | A Mom After God’s Own Heart The book is classic Coble in that it involves a great mystery, romance and stellar characters and story lines. But the most important part of the book is how Colleen Coble weaves in her faith and the importance of faith in God. I love to see characters strengthened in their walks with God, and reminded of how He guides us in our lives.

Dawn | A Passion For Pages The ending was perfect, with it’s surprises, and it’s saves, and it’s kisses.

Ashley’s Bookshelf I loved the depth of the characters in this book. The author does a great job of weaving Christian principles through the book without it feeling forced. Complications, secrets and mysteries are around every corner and it was difficult to put this book down.

Kari | From the TBR Pile The peripheral characters in the book are wonderful and really add to the story overall. It looks like this is the first in a series. I look forward to reading more about this small island!

Megan | Inspired by Fiction It is a nice easy read, a romantic suspense that will keep you turning the pages.

Jasmine | The Bookish Mama You really get a little bit of everything with this book, romance, action, mystery… so, I’m definitely looking forward to next one in the series!

Karen’s Korner Colleen Coble is a master story-teller and expert at weaving mystery, love, good, and bad into a well written piece of Christian fiction. This is a must read.

Lori | Morning Glories and Moonflowers She has once again delivered an exciting and romantic story that includes a thrilling mystery. Colleen also has a sweet focus on the Lord and it makes Tidewater Inn that much richer.

Marjorie | The Writer’s Tool The setting is exquisite, a barrier island off the coast of North Carolina. And as always, it plays a role in the story. The characters are believable; their occupations are interesting. And the suspense factor is wonderful.

Lisa | Seeking with all Yur Heart There is something in this book for just about everyone…romance, suspense, mystery, history. The characters are developed in detail and are easily related to. Their emotions seem genuine and don’t feel put on.

Sharon’s Garden of Book Reviews Coble adds an element of faith and hope to her tale that gives a beautiful inspirational feel to the novel without beating the reader over the head with preachy message. The main characters relay on the power of prayer to carry them through difficult situations, and it is the tie that binds them together.

  • This author has always been able to pull me into her books. She has done so in this book also. This book is suspenseful, heart wrenching, inspirational and romantic. Although I did think it was a little unbelievable about the circumstances of her friend Nicole it was still an amazing read.

  • I loved the island setting of Hope Beach off the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and I loved the main characters. Coast Guard Lieutenant, Alec Bourne and Libby Holladay, an outsider to the island who has inherited a beachfront property called The Tidewater Inn from her now-deceased, estranged father both pulled me from page to page. I wanted (so much!) to know what was going to happen between them when the details of the mystery came to light. And there were so many other characters that I enjoyed getting to know and hope to see and get to know better in the next books in this series.

  • Enjoyed reading this book! Had me hooked from the beginning when
her business partner was kidnapped and couldn’t put it down after
    that!
