Holly Cramer’s past choices have finally caught up to her, but she never expected them to endanger her baby.

Though Holly’s stumbled through most of her adult life as a party girl, she longs to live a more stable life for her daughter. Then police show up to question her about the whereabouts of Creed Kershaw, Lily’s father. She has kept his identity a secret from friends and family—she never even told him about the pregnancy. Now he’s a person of interest in a drug-related murder case.

Determined to keep him out of their lives and turn him over to police, Holly uses her private investigating skills to search for him. But her bravado backfires when he turns the tables and takes her and the baby hostage. As desperate hours tick by, Holly realizes his connection to Leonard Miller—the man who has gunned down several members of her family. Creed claims he’s innocent and that Miller is after him too. His gentleness with Lily moves her, but she can’t trust a man who has held her at gunpoint . . . even if he reminds her so much of herself.

Dangers old and new threaten Holly and her baby, and lives are demanded as sacrifices for love. Through a complex web of mistakes and regret, redemption is the one hope Holly has left to hold on to.

Where do you turn when your past catches up to you?

Readers will be riveted by Blackstock’s edge-of-your-seat thriller filled with twists, turns — and a lot of heart

1/19/2015 || Seattle: It’s difficult enough sometimes to live with the consequences of your own decisions, but what do you do when the ripples caused by your choices begin to endanger the ones you love? In Twisted Innocence (Zondervan/February 3, 2015/     ISBN: 978-0310332367/$15.99) beloved suspense author Terri Blackstock weaves a gripping tale of murder, mistaken identity and human frailty.

In the final installment of the Moonlighters series, Blackstock features Holly Cramer, whom the author admits is her favorite character in the trilogy. The first two books of the series (Truth Stained Lies and Distortion) portray Holly as a party girl whose wild ways came to a crashing halt when she learned she was pregnant. Although tempted to end the pregnancy, Holly chose life — and all of the rocky emotions, financial burdens and practical challenges that came with single motherhood. Now, in Twisted Innocence, some of Holly’s past choices come back to haunt her. Because of her troubled past and Holly’s valiant efforts to change, Blackstock believes readers will identify with Holly.

In Twisted Innocence, Holly begins to try to pick up the pieces of her life and create a more stable environment for her newborn daughter Lily. Everything changes, though, when police show up at her front door, asking about the whereabouts of Creed Kershaw, her baby’s father. Holly has kept his identity a secret from friends and family — she never even told him about his child.

Determined to keep Creed out of their lives and turn him over to police, Holly uses her private-investigating skills to search for him. However, her bravado backfires when he turns the tables and takes her and the baby hostage. As desperate hours tick by, Creed’s gentleness with Lily moves her, and she’s tempted to believe his claims of innocence — but how can she trust a man who has her held at gunpoint?

In the midst of these harrowing circumstances, Holly struggles with her own personal demons; will she ever be able to turn her life around and find peace? “There is nothing we’ve done that can’t be wiped clean by Christ,” Blackstock reminds us. “There’s nothing heavier than the weight of sin in our lives. It’s crushing. What a luxury to know the burden of it can be lifted off our shoulders if we repent and give it to God.”

Dangers old and new threaten Holly and her baby in Twisted Innocence, even as lives are demanded as sacrifices for love. Through a complex web of mistakes and regret, redemption is the one hope Holly has left to hold on to.

Blackstock isn’t afraid to tell stories about the messy turns our lives sometimes take. “I want this book to reach anyone who’s ever made bad choices and feels like God is disgusted with them,” she reveals. “I want them to come away with the realization that God knows what challenges they’ve had throughout their lives and understands what got them to this point. He doesn’t want to dwell on their sins. He wants to wipe their slates clean, because He has big plans for them. It’s never too late to start over.”

Terri Blackstock has been a favorite author of mine for several years. In fact, I have read all the books that she has written and am always so excited when a new book by her releases. Twisted Innocence was no exception.

The book starts with a bang and draws you into the mystery of Holly’s past and into her present. The book is written in such a way that you will be up late into the night reading and on the edge of your seat the entire time. There were plenty of twists and turns, and the ending certainly surprised me. No spoilers here, but suffice it to say, you will want to read this gem of a book. If you have never had the opportunity to read her books, this is a great once to start with.

I have read MANY of Terri Blackstock’s books and she does NOT disappoint in, Twisted Innocence, the third book in Terri Blackstock’s Moolighter’s Series…
Blackstock has an amazing ability to string along the reader in a twisted story of suspense and thrills. Mixed in with the thrills and suspense, she mixes in some romance, some humor and a lot of the Truth– God’s truth. I loved how through her sisters, Holly realizes that she has value and that God loves her even past her mistakes and is then able to show that same grace to Creed (don’t you love that name!!) and help him believe it as well. I also love that Blackstock doesn’t feel the need to water down or leave out God and His part in our lives no matter where we are or what we’re doing.

    I would definitely recommend…

A great plot, believable and likable characters, suspense, and romance – this book has it all. The book also tackles the deep subjects of second chances, and personal suffering being used by God to deepen our faith and our character.

You won’t be disappointed in this one.

I was hooked from the very beginning of this book! This is the first book I have read in the Moonlighters series and found it as a great stand alone. I wasn’t lost one bit without reading the first two books, that being said I want to go back and read the first two as I looked book #3. The author doesn’t play around and gets right into the story from the first chapter. She ropes you into the characters lives and makes you feel like you are part of the story. Holly is by far my favorite character as she is such a strong willed women who has made some mistakes in the past but is trying really hard to get on the right path only to have her past try and derail her. The author keeps the story going without any lulls and keeps you flipping to the next page to see what will happen next……

Wowza!! I was totally blown away by how well Terri Blackstock not only penned an excellent novel but also wrapped everything up the way it should be. In typical Blackstock fashion she opens the book with a bang and doesn’t leave you waiting for the action. I do have to say though, I am terribly sad to see this series end. The Moonlighters has been one of those that wormed its way into my heart and became one of my favorites.

Though this story will keep you the edge of your seats because of the intense suspense, it is also very heartwarming. A precious little baby can do that to a person. I have to admit, I was scared for Holly and her daughter, and then for all of the main characters because of the danger their lives were in. And when I thought I had it all figured out, another twist happened and the story took another drastic turn

No book will make you turn pages faster than Twisted Innocence. It has more takedowns than a wrestling match and events move twice as fast. Part of that is due to this book’s placement in the series. As the last book in the series, this book centers around Holly, but it also wraps up loose ends from the previous stories.

Terri Blackstock is absolutely one of my all-time favorite, Christian suspense authors. She is a master at building a story with complex characters that seem like real people, your neighbors, friends, and doctors. She writes community into every novel.

Her latest, book Twisted Innocence lives up to her great craftmanship. I just loved this story which brought laughter, fright, and tears (sometimes all on the same page). I wish I had started with other books in the series. This is the third one. The fact that I could pick up the book in a series and understand and follow the plot easily speaks to Mrs. Blackstock’s writing expertise.

I really liked the character of Holly, she was flawed and yet very likable. It was nice to see her grow up and become more responsible as she learns to care for her child. I also really liked how you finally got to see a satisfying conclusion to the whole mess with Leonard Miller. Over the series, it’s Holly who changes the most, the character who grows the most and it’s a lovely transformation kind of story. Her story does feel “rushed” as so many suspense novels suffer this fate, however if you’ve read this entire series, her change of heart doesn’t feel “convenient” because we’ve “grown” with Holly throughout the books. It’s great to catch up with the other primary characters of this series as well – including Michael and Cathy (Truth Stained Lies), Juliet (Distortion) and then we meet Creed. He’s the guy we want to trust (and generally can) but have a niggling of doubt in the back of our mind.

They had each others’ backs for the most part and had a lot to deal with between their past and current situations. There’s a scene where one of the sisters who is raising her three children on her own and watching her sister’s four or five-week-old baby and just about has a meltdown. It was completely crazy, but so realistic and it cracked me up. You see how great these women really are and the good men as well through some pretty tense situations. The story got fairly intense towards the end, as you would expect. Lot’s going on there too. It also had a great message about change and wiping the slate clean in reference to starting over and letting go of past mistakes.

I was given the opportunity to review the third and final installment in the Moonlight Series, but I had not read the other books first. I feel that this may have been why I did not quite enjoy this book as much as I thought I would have. I felt like I was missing something even though the author does recap things in one of the earliest chapters. I still felt a little lost with the characters, but this book can be jumped into as a standalone once you get into some of the entries that help with character recognition from the earlier two books. This is truly a book filled with mystery, fears, trials, as well as love, with the theme of redemption comes through loud and clear. I felt that it got off to a slow start and I was getting a bit concerned that it would not meet my expectations from this particular author, however, by the third chapter, I was entranced and glued to the page.

The characters are well developed and so realistic that you immediately connect with them, feeling their fears, challenges, confusion and yes, even their mistakes in life, become your own.

As the plot develops, there are twists and turns constantly , filling you with fear and worry . Just when I thought that I had answers for some of the problems, another shocking event would occur to cause more confusion. Throughout the story, an important message shines through, even at the darkest moments. There is hope and redemption for ALL of us, regardless of the mistakes made in the past. God can heal and take those bad moments away, making them into learning experiences that are valuable to our growth in the Christian walk.

Ms. Blackstock has provided us a first-rate mystery. If you did not read the first two books in this series don’t worry Ms. Blackstock lets you in on what is going on. However I do recommend that you do read the previous two just for your own enjoyment.

Teri Blackstock was the first author of Christian suspense/mystery I read. At that time, there wasn’t much of it on the Christian market. Now there is, but I still enjoy her books. This series is among her best she has written, and this third and last book brought the series to a great conclusion.

This book is about the final sibling in the family, Holly, who has a track record of making bad decisions. The book has all of the action, suspense, and drama Terri is known for, but there is also a message that no matter how bad we have been in the past, there is hope in Jesus to change and live a better life.

Even though each book in this trilogy has had an ending, there was a criminal on the run in each book, and that was brought to a conclusion in this book. I really enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down until I finished it. Great plot, characters, and a fast paced story that kept me guessing.

Terri Blackstock’s books are always full of suspense, twists n turns, romance and the unexpected. “Twisted Innocence” was no different. This book is a can’t-put-down-page-turner, that will keep you up late at night reading it to find out what happens.

This series focus’s on three sisters and the disasters that have come their way. But they stick together and remain united as a family. They are there for each other and support each other through the ups n downs, blessings and mistakes of life. This is how a family should be and reminded me of my sisters and me. Although our personalities are not like the characters in the book, in the end we’re still sisters and we’re still family.

  • I was recently stuck at the DMV for 3 hours. Fortunately, I had a good book with me! Terri Blackstock’s new Twisted Innocencekept me company during the long wait.

This was part love story, part suspense, with a good helping of redemption, as well. Holly’s made some bad choices, and it’s caused her to doubt her instincts. But she believes Creed when he says he was set up, and bad guys are out to get him. Holly’s family takes longer to believe that somebody who would kidnap a woman and her baby can be the good guy in the equation.

If you’re looking for action packed, how’s a shooting, a poisoning, and a couple of bombs? This story kept me on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what would happen next.

This is a book 3, but it stands alone well. I didn’t feel lost coming into it without reading the first two.

Wow, what a great conclusion to this awesome series. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat as your read it. It was good to see old and familiar characters from the previous books. While this book could stand alone, there is enough of the backstory alluded to, that helps you understand what is going on, it does help to have read the other books.
I enjoyed reading Holly’s story and seeing the wrap up of her sister Cathy’s story. I loved these characters because they are just like we are, flawed.

When I pick up a book by Terri Blackstock, I know I can expect a page-turner filled with true-to-life characters, gritty and sometimes edgy situations, perhaps a little romance, lots of suspense, and usually redemption. “Twisted Innocence” fully met my expectations.

Third book in Blackstock’s Moonlighters series, “Twisted Innocence” features sister Holly Cramer whose somewhat stressed life is the result of poor past choices. Little does she realize that her life is about to become even more stressful as some of that past intrudes on her life once again – in dangerous ways that threaten those she cares about the most.

With her expected mystery, suspense and bits of romance, Blackstock kept me hooked through twists and turns until the very satisfying end. Twisted Innocence is a quick read that just does not let its reader go. Fans of the series will be delighted with this third novel – it sure is worth the read.

I was anxiously waiting this next book in this series since I was so interested in Holly’s take on this continuation of the Moonlighters Series. I just love that each book is told by each sister in this story about a family struggling to catch a drug dealer who has been causing chaos. I think it is a great story about how every family with more than one child has one that that is kind of a rebellion. To me, family dynamics are interesting because everyones view is so different from the next one

From the first chapter this book was fast paced and intriguing! I absolutely loved it and couldn’t put it down until I was done reading the entire book.

Holly has had a hard life-mostly from her own bad choices-but she’s determined to get her life on track so she can protect and take care of her baby daughter. There is danger around every corner and I found myself holding my breath wondering what was going to happen next.

Stunning conclusion to a page-turning series. Blackstock’s masterful touch is in every nuance of this story. From the gripping suspense to the gnarly lives of flawed people, she spins a riveting tale liberally laced with an impactful inspirational thread.

Oh my. Terri Blackstock has brought this series to a magnificent close with Twisted Innocence. I loved the first two books, Truth-Stained Lies and Distortion, and this one completes the trilogy with Holly’s story. Although it can easily be read as a standalone, a thread that began in the first novel and continued in the second continues and is resolved in Twisted Innocence. Blackstock packs this story with action and emotion….

“Twisted Innocence” by Terri Blackstock is an exciting conclusion to her Moonlighters series and one I could not put down once I started to read! Holly is the sister of focus in this book and she is a new mom and trying to be a good mother and turn her life around; however this is not easy being a single mom and trying to support herself and her daughter. Holly’s story starts out with a crime and I was immediately hooked on the story and rooting for Holly to make good choices and get her life on track.

Twisted Innocence surprised me in a good way. While bad things definitely happen in the novel, the good things far outweigh the bad. In fact, after one pivotal plot point was resolved, I kept waiting for the other proverbial shoe to drop. It never did, and I’m so happy about that! (Maybe I’ve just watched too many prison movies …) That’s not to say the suspense isn’t there—I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book. But the terrible things that I expected to happen never did. Also, the Leonard Miller thread that weaves through all three books is resolved in a satisfying manner, and it was nice to see Cathy and Michael’s story continue. I also enjoyed watching Holly and Creed find redemption in Christ.

What a great way to end her trilogy! I love reading Terry Blackstock’s work because it captures me with interesing characters and story lines. I almost hate to see this trilogy end, but know there will be more books in the future! If you like suspenseful thrillers, this book is for you. I also think that people will want to discuss this trilogy, so think it would be a great choice for book clubs.

Once I got into it after the first few chapters, I couldn’t put it down, just like the first two in the series. The suspense did arise and keep me guessing about what was going to happen. In truck Blackstock form there are twists and turns with Holly’s baby’s father having a connection to the bad guy in the previous stories; Leonard Miller. This is where it definitely gets more interesting! Miller has shot several members of Holly’s family so it becomes even more personal for her.

This book was fabulous, but don’t start here. The book does stand alone, so I guess you can if you must. But really, go get Truth-Stained Lies and start at the beginning. This book is so much better if you know the backstory.

One major message in this story has to do with past mistakes and past events, and how you have to work from where you are now. You can’t keep going back to the “if only’s” and wishing you had made different — or better — choices.

I started this book, and was a little disappointed. I expected it to be intense from the first sentence. It was more like a romance, until maybe, the second page. From there the pace got faster until by the middle of the novel the adrenaline was flowing at high speed. If you are like me, and expect this from Terri, do not give up right away and think she has changed genres on you! This book is as fabulous as her others! The twists and turns kept me going until I was finished. Some things caught me by surprise, which is what a good author aims to do, and she succeeded. It was more than a satisfying book, it was a must keep.

The conclusion to this series is an emotional wrap-up for all the characters. There was not as much suspense as in the others in the series. There is a clear presentation of the gospel, however, as Holly and Creed contemplate their past and future. To get the full impact of this novel, one should really read the prior books in the series.

I hate to say it but this book was my least favorite in this series. The other two seemed more suspenseful and intriguing. This book does include the same characters from the previous stories, so I recommend reading them in order. Holly’s character frustrated me at times but I liked Terri’s portrayal of her life and situation raising a baby and being a cap driver. The most surprising person in this story was Creed who confused me at first and really completed the story line. Terri could have twisted the relationships up a bit but instead I think she made life more realistic and I liked it. I loved reading about all of the previous people and their continuing stories. I just didn’t connect with this book much and for me it wasn’t so much a page turner.

  • I have read several of Blackstock’s books and I really enjoy her writing. This particular book is book three in her Moonlighter’s series. I do believe this book can stand alone well, because I have not read the other books in the series, but I think if you have read the other books it will really help the reader with the backgrounds of the characters. Blackstock does make it easy to get to know the characters and backstory without reading the other books, though.

This series has been so much fun to read. I love the strong sense of family and supporting each other. Holly’s determination to figure out what was going on with Creed, her baby’s father, put me on the edge of my seat. I was so sure she would end up getting in more trouble for going out on her own, without the police, but what happened instead, could only be God’s perfect plan. Only God could turn a tragedy and a mistake into a blessing.
